Chapter 855 The First Meeting
At 10:30 PM, Abella climbed into Theo's car.
Netherhaven was tucked away in a secluded spot, hidden behind an abandoned train station. There was a giant billboard that, when pushed aside, revealed the entrance to Netherhaven.
Theo showed a QR code, which a staff member scanned before letting them through security. Only after confirming they had no weapons were they allowed to proceed.
Ahead was a dimly lit corridor guarded by armed personnel on both sides. At the end of the hallway, they pushed open a door to enter the main arena.
The place was packed with people.
In the center of the circular stands was a massive ring, where a 200-pound fighter was about to face off against a ferocious beast.
The crowd's roar was deafening. "Kill it! Kill it! Kill it!"
The beast already had the advantage in weight, and being a carnivore starved for days, it pounced on the fighter, tearing a long gash in his arm with its claws. The beast's roar from within was a clear indication that it saw the fighter as its prey.
The entire audience went wild.
For them, "intense" and "bloody" were the bare minimum requirements. They came here for the thrill.
Abella knew that underground fight clubs existed everywhere, but she hadn't expected it to be this brutal. To satisfy these crazed spectators, they were actually staging a man-versus-beast fight...
There were several staircases leading to the stands and a few elevators guarded by staff.
The elevators led to the upper-level private boxes, accessible only to those with high status.
Theo showed the QR code again, and the staff member glanced at it, allowing only Abella to go in.
"Wait for me here," Abella said.
"Ms. Medici..." Theo was a bit uneasy, but seeing Abella's confident look, he nodded, feeling less tense.
The elevator doors closed, and Abella arrived on the second floor alone. When the doors opened with a ding, it was noticeably quieter compared to the chaos downstairs.
Though the roars from below were still audible, they were no longer deafening.
As Abella stepped out of the elevator, she saw a woman suddenly strip off her pink fur coat, revealing only a bikini. The woman called out sweetly, "Mr. Medici."
She had her back to Dennis, showing off her graceful back and long legs.
She boldly walked towards Dennis in the hallway, her steps full of seduction. Before Dennis could respond, she hooked her arm around his neck, deliberately pressing her ample chest against him.
"So forward?" Dennis's voice was particularly charming, with a hint of amusement. In the dim light, Abella couldn't see his face, only hearing his seductive voice ask, "Want it?"
"You're so naughty..." The woman cooed, "Mr. Medici, you're so blunt, I'm embarrassed..."
Abella wasn't interested in who they were. She saw a sign on the wall indicating that boxes numbered 10 and above were to the right, and she had to pass by them.
"Excuse me." They were standing in the middle of the hallway, with several bodyguards behind Dennis.
The woman didn't expect someone to be so oblivious, not noticing she was flirting with Dennis?
This person must be blind, daring to ask Dennis to move aside?
But Dennis, with one hand around the woman's slender waist, pulled her closer while looking at the passing girl with interest.
The girl wore a black mask, revealing only a pair of clear, beautiful eyes. Her hair was in a bun, she wore casual clothes, carried a backpack, and had white sneakers on.
"Mr. Medici..." Perhaps sensing Dennis's gaze on Abella, the woman called out sweetly, trying to kiss Dennis.
Louie, leading the group, initially didn't want to make way for Abella. Seeing Dennis step aside, he signaled the others to move.
Abella passed by them and knocked on the door of box 11, then went inside.
The woman closed her eyes, just about to kiss Dennis, when he suddenly threw her into the trash can by the elevator.
The woman fell awkwardly, her expression changing in pain as her elbow bled. She looked up to see Dennis playing with a white pill, a cold smile on his lips.
The woman touched her pinned-up hair, realizing the white pill hidden there had somehow ended up in Dennis's hand.
"Trying to drug me?" Dennis flicked the white pill at her.
"When did you find out?" The woman couldn't believe he was so sharp. Did he notice when that girl passed by? It couldn't be; she had hidden it so well... Did he smell it?
Louie quickly stepped forward, firmly restraining the woman.
"Did Harry send you?" Dennis asked, seeing her silence, and laughed coldly, "Guessed it so quickly? How boring."
He lazily instructed his men, "Cut off her hand and send it along with the drug to Harry."
Harry Brooks was his business rival. Seeing Dennis's growing power and his own territory being encroached upon, he naturally harbored resentment.
"You think I'll suffer at your hands?" The woman was about to put her thumb nail in her mouth to lick it when Louie quickly stuffed a handkerchief in her mouth.
The woman had coated her nail with a layer of gold powder, ready to poison herself if she failed and fell into Dennis's hands...
She hadn't expected to be discovered.
"Harry, not only is he incompetent, but his subordinates are also this lousy." Dennis took off his suit jacket, which the woman had touched, and threw it into the trash can. He then took a wet wipe from his subordinate and cleaned his hands.
Seeing him enter box number one, Louie knocked the woman out and dragged her away to have her hand cut off.
After a while, he returned to the box to report, "Mr. Medici, it's done. We've sent it over. Also, a mysterious buyer has been trying to purchase one of your islands, offering three hundred million dollars."
"Which island?" Dennis seemed to have no recollection.
"The one with a lot of weeds..."
Louie couldn't think of a better way to describe the island. In his memory, the island was overgrown with weeds, looking desolate, but it had a large beach and a clear view of the sea.
"The buyer probably wants an isolated island to live a secluded life..." Louie added.
But in Louie's mind, the island wasn't worth three hundred million dollars...
Dennis had bought it for only twenty million dollars back then.
"Mr. Louie, at this price, we've already made a good profit."
"Keep him waiting." Dennis wasn't planning to sell it so quickly. He swirled the wine in his glass and drank it all in one go. "What about that guy?"
"You mean the one from this afternoon? His name is Cruz. He's downstairs luring Bobby out. Apparently, Bobby loves watching intense fights. As long as the fight is brutal enough, he'll show up."
