Chapter 1080 Was It You?

Sam had spent the whole night grilling Scorpion, but he got nowhere.

The next morning, Abella was having breakfast when Carl, sitting across from her, spoke up.

"Hey Abella, I heard from your aunt and uncle that you caught someone messing with their company. Is his name Scorpion?" Carl asked out of the blue.

Abella hadn't expected them to spill the beans to her grandparents. They must be desperate, hoping her grandparents would step in and get Scorpion from her.

Thinking about this, Abella replied calmly, "Yeah, I have him."

"I heard this guy's really bad news. He poisoned your aunt and uncle's restaurant, and now a bunch of people are in the hospital. Their families are demanding answers, but your aunt and uncle can't say you caught Scorpion. They need to question him to figure out why he did it," Carl explained.

"Abella, why did you catch Scorpion?" Winslow asked, looking confused.

"He hired someone to kill me," Abella said flatly. "He wanted me dead."

"What? Why didn't you tell us? When did this happen? Beckett and Kimberly didn't mention anything," Winslow exclaimed, shocked.

"Is it that girl from the Wilson family, Isla?" Carl suddenly remembered. "She kidnapped your friend and Lauren recently to force you out. Is she working with Scorpion?"

"To be precise, Scorpion gave her the money and the contact for the hitman. He even provided her with a poison called Sevenfold Poison to make sure I was dead," Abella explained.

"Unbelievable!" Carl slammed the table in anger. "What grudge does Scorpion have against you? Why would he do this?"

"I'm still trying to find out," Abella said. "That's one of the reasons I caught him."

"Seems like Abella's questions are more important than George's," Winslow said to Carl. "Let George wait. Abella needs to get to the bottom of this first."

"That Isla doesn't have the means to pull this off on her own. Her family's bankrupt, and she has no support. Scorpion must be helping her. He wants Abella dead and is causing chaos in George's company. Who is this Scorpion?" Carl was still talking when his phone buzzed. He answered, "Margaret."

Abella kept eating her breakfast quietly.

"I just asked Abella. Scorpion hired someone to kill her. She needs to question him," Carl said into the phone. "I know you need to give those people an explanation, but Abella's life is more important. If it weren't for Terrence teaching her self-defense, she wouldn't have survived Isla's attack. I get your situation is urgent."

Abella heard Margaret giving Carl a hard time and said, "Grandpa, let me talk to Aunt Margaret."

"Abella wants to talk to you," Carl said, handing the phone to Abella.

Abella put the phone on speaker. "To be honest, Scorpion is also involved in the hospital fire years ago. Are you in such a hurry because you have something to hide?"

Margaret didn't expect Abella to be so blunt in front of Carl. She quickly tried to smooth things over. "Abella, you've got it all wrong."

Her tone was patient and gentle, like she was talking to a child.

"I just want to give those people an explanation. More and more families are coming to us, and it's hurting the Medici family's reputation. How is Scorpion involved in the hospital fire?"

"If you're innocent, then wait until I get the answers," Abella said, hanging up before Margaret could say more.

Carl and Winslow were taken aback by Abella's decisiveness.

"Abella, why do you think Scorpion is involved in the hospital fire?" Winslow asked.

"There are some clues that match. Don't worry, Grandpa and Grandma. I know Uncle George and Aunt Margaret's situation is urgent. I'll get the answers quickly and hand him over," Abella assured them.

"Alright, just don't overwork yourself. Let us know if you need help," Winslow said lovingly.

"Okay."

Meanwhile, when Lola woke up, she found a message from Henry saying there was a great breakfast place nearby that required an hour's wait. He told her to sleep in.

Besides Henry's message, Lola hadn't received any other texts.

She felt uneasy and a bit irritated. By now, that person should have arrived in Solstice.

They had agreed that he would send a message in a specific format to confirm his safe arrival abroad, and she didn't need to reply.

But it was already nine in the morning.

Just then, the door to her ward opened. Lola was surprised. "Henry? You're back already? Didn't you say it would take an hour?"

Before she could finish, she saw it was Cecil who entered. A sense of dread washed over her, and she instinctively reached for her phone to call Henry.

But Cecil quickly stepped forward and grabbed her by the throat. "Was the car accident your doing?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Lola gasped, trying to pry his hand off, but his grip was too strong. "Let go, what are you doing?"

"Tell me, or I'll snap your neck," Cecil tightened his grip.

Lola's face turned red, and she struggled to breathe. She clawed at Cecil's hand, her vision darkening. "I'll talk, let go."

Cecil loosened his grip slightly.

Lola took a few desperate breaths before saying, "Melanie's car accident was an accident. It had nothing to do with me!"

"Looks like you need more convincing," Cecil said, tightening his grip again.

Lola didn't have time to press the call button on the wall. The suffocating and terrifying feeling returned. She felt the oxygen depleting, and no matter how much she struggled, it was useless.

"Cecil, you're crazy," Lola gasped, her head spinning and her vision blurring. "Help."
