Chapter 271 Intensify the Strike

"I'm telling you to get out." Barbara slammed the bedside table angrily, trembling with fury.

"Mom, please calm down and take a deep breath." Mr. Wilson tried to calm her down.

"Get out! Don’t you understand English? I told both of you to get out of here. Get out!" Barbara shouted with all her strength.

Worried that her condition would worsen, Mr. Wilson stood up and pulled Isla with him, "Well, you rest now, we'll come to visit you in a few days..."

"Go, go, go!" Exhausted and with her body trembling, Barbara's voice grew hoarse. After they left, she realized tears had appeared on her face at some point.

She laughed at herself in self-derision, never expecting her twilight years to be this desolate.

Not a single reliable person among her blood relatives.

After a while, she had calmed down. She reached under her pillow with trembling hands and pulled out a cellphone. Opening the recent calls, she dialed Abella's number, just wanting to hear the child's voice.

“Hello, Abella.” Barbara said in a strained voice.

"Hello, Grandma. What's wrong?" Abella noticed something strange in her voice as soon as she answered the phone. "Are you in a bad mood?"

"No, I just miss you. What are you busy with?" Barbara asked.

Abella paused her actions and glanced at the massager in her hand before gently replying, "Nothing much, just some work things."

"Don't work too hard, take care of yourself. By the way, how many more days until my surgery?" Barbara couldn't wait any longer.

"Three days." Abella answered.

"Three days..." Barbara covered her heart with one hand, murmuring that number repeatedly, unsure if she could hold on until that day.

After being angered by Mr. Wilson for the past two days, she felt her heart ache terribly and she couldn't catch her breath.

Abella thought she was worried about the success rate of the surgery and gently smiled, "Grandma, don't worry. Once the surgery is done, your body will definitely be better. Once you’ve recovered, I guarantee you'll live to be a hundred."

Barbara chuckled, "Why would I want to live that long? As long as I can live to see you get married, I'll be content."

"Grandma, don't say such things. We've overcome even the most difficult times together." Abella encouraged.

Countless times on the edge of death, on the verge of crossing the threshold, Abella had managed to pull her back.

"It's just a small surgery. Don’t worry. Sleep peacefully tonight, and when you wake up, everything will seem better." Abella continued.

"Alright, alright. With you as the surgeon, I can rest assured." Barbara smiled, seemingly having unwavering faith in her medical skills. "Oh, by the way, after I'm discharged, I want to move to that house in the outskirts."

She didn't want to be disturbed by Mr. Wilson and the others anymore.

"Alright, I'll arrange for someone to clean it." Abella said.

"After I’ve recovered, after being discharged, you can arrange for me to meet your parents. I want to talk to them face to face." Barbara said.

"Okay, no problem." Abella obediently nodded.

"Well, you carry on with your tasks. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up. Take care of yourself. I'm going to take a nap." Barbara said with a smile.

"Okay, goodbye, Grandma."

After hanging up the phone, Abella looked up and said to Sam beside her, "Go check if Mr. Wilson went to the hospital today."

"Is Grandma okay?" Sam asked.

"She is.” It's just that Abella heard a hint of sadness in her voice, but she was unsure if it had anything to do with Mr. Wilson. "Tell Dr. Smith to go and see if Grandma feels unwell."

"Alright." Sam came back after completing the tasks. "That idiot, Mr. Wilson, did go to the hospital today. And he brought Mrs. Wilson and Isla with him. They're probably trying to swindle money!"

"What did Dr. Smith say?"

"He said Grandma's emotions were a bit volatile, but nothing major. It's probably those three idiots who got her all riled up." Sam sighed.

"Do we still have any of the mini surveillance devices we used last time?" Abella asked.

"You want to install surveillance in her hospital room?" Sam questioned, realizing what she meant. "We should have done that a long time ago."

This way, they could see if anyone was mistreating Grandma on a daily basis.

"I'll go find it right away!" Sam replied happily.

After a while, Sam found the last set of mini surveillance devices, which Abella had developed a long time ago. It looked like a grain of rice and could be stuck anywhere without being noticed.

"This is the last set. Here you go." Sam said.

"I'll go to the hospital tomorrow. You keep a close eye here." Abella instructed.

"No problem." Sam nodded.

When Mrs. Wilson, who was waiting in the corridor, saw Mr. Wilson and Isla coming out of the hospital room, she couldn't help but approach them and ask, "What happened? You came out so quickly? What did Grandma say? Did she agree to give us anything?"

"Stop talking..." Mr. Wilson looked dejected and listless.

Mrs. Wilson noticed the injury on Mr. Wilson's forehead and asked, "What's wrong? Is Grandma refusing to give us a penny?"
"Mom, you don't even want to know. Grandma got extremely angry and smashed Dad's head. We even knelt down, but Grandma still has no plans to revise her will." Isla angrily explained.

"That old woman!" Mrs. Wilson cursed silently. "I'll go talk to her."

"Don't." Mr. Wilson grabbed her hand and was about to say something when his phone rang.

"Hello? What did you say? It's the Medici family again? Why are they constantly targeting our Group?"

After hanging up the phone, Mr. Wilson couldn't understand why the Medici family kept suppressing them.

The Wilson Group was even considered a rival by the Medici family.

We are no threat to them or their success!

Why do they keep targeting us?

"What's going on?" Mrs. Wilson couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong with the Medici family now?"

"Ever since the Medici family made that ruthless statement last time, almost all the raw material suppliers have stopped doing business with us. It's been a long time since we received any new stock. Although we still have some inventory and a few old orders in production, today many of our suppliers called us to say they won't work with us anymore. They asked us to stop production. Our people have been asking for a long time before finding out that it's the Medici family's doing. In addition, many of the malls where our stores are located have been using all kinds of methods to force us out. They have even breached contracts and compensated us. Some of our expiring store leases, they refuse to renew unless the rent is increased tenfold." Mr. Wilson said.

"Tenfold? Why don't they just rob us?" Mrs. Wilson could hardly believe it.

"Furthermore, our old customers have all left... and many talented people in our group have said they're going to work for any of the Medici family's subsidiaries, where they'll receive double the pay and even double the vacation time. Now, so many of our staff are resigning." Mr. Wilson frowned.

"Could it be because of our interaction with them at the diner." Mrs. Wilson suddenly said, remembering the encounter with the Medici couple at CCG Diner. Mrs. Medici had seemed quite displeased.

Could it be that because of that, the Medici family has intensified their attacks on the Wilson family?

"Now we have internal and external troubles. I heard there's a mole in the company selling our confidential information." Mr. Wilson was at a loss, not knowing what to do. "Our funding has once again been disrupted. If it's not replenished, the Wilson family will really crumble."
