Chapter 266 Regret

"Mom, please understand." At this moment, Mr. Wilson sat by the bedside and looked at Grandma's face with helplessness. "We know you're upset. We shouldn't have put Abella profile on the missing persons website and caused you to be separated."

Barbara was somewhat surprised to hear such words. Did the sun rise from the west today?

Even her son was repenting? Really?

It's rare to see Mr. Wilson look like he truly realizes his mistakes. He lowers his head, full of remorse.

Barbara had once mentioned that ever since they put Abella profile up on the adoption website, the Wilson family has been in disarray.

"I never knew Abella had such outstanding achievements from a young age. You never told me." Mr. Wilson said.

Upon hearing this, Barbara found it very amusing and sarcastically retorted, "When have I not told you? Every time I called, as soon as I mentioned Abella, you impatiently hung up, claiming you were busy, in a meeting, or doing something else. Basically, you never had the time to hear what I had to say."

That was a fact that Mr. Wilson could not refute.

"Every time you call, it's always for money, or asking for the contact information of some executive. I thought, after giving you the money and the contact information, I could update you on Abella's situation, but before I could say a few words, you hurriedly hung up!" Barbara sneers.

"You could've sent me a text!" Mr. Wilson says.

"Don't you know that ever since Abella started middle school, the school system automatically sends you her daily assignments and monthly test scores? Abella, in order to make you like her more, always scored perfect on every test!" Barbara says.

Mr. Wilson is taken aback. He didn't expect Abella would have such good grades over the years, and he never thought that she had been yearning for their love all this time. They really did a poor job in that aspect. But he was completely unaware of the school's assignment and grading system.

On the other hand, Mrs. Wilson's face turned slightly ugly as she suddenly recalls that indeed, the school used to send her text messages every day, telling her what homework Abella had that day, which words needed memorization, or how many test papers needed to be completed! They sent these messages every day, annoying her, until she finally called the school to scold them, after which the messages stopped.

But Abella didn't know about this. She thought her parents could see her grades, so she studied hard every day.

"You didn't even tell us about Abella being the founder of QY!" Mr. Wilson says, his words carry a slight hint of reproach.

"You didn't care about her, and now you blame me? Abella is not yet an adult. She didn't want you to feel inferior to even an underaged child. She was silently working behind the scenes, utilizing various resources to help you. Otherwise, with your two empty heads, would the Wilson family be where they are today?" Barbara says angrily.

Mrs. Wilson can't help but argue upon hearing this. "Mom, even though Abella is the founder of QY, the achievements of the Wilson family today are clearly due to my and Jeff's hard work over the years."

"Hard work?" Barbara sneered, "You two idiots! Let's talk about what happened before. You wanted to invest in several projects, and Abella showed you several clear paths. You didn't even have to count the money, it was practically handed to you on a silver platter! But what did you do? You lost everything, and Abella had to cover a whole billion dollars for you behind the scenes!"

Upon hearing this, both Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Wilson were stunned, finding it hard to believe.

"There are countless incidents like this. That child poured her heart and soul into helping you, but what have you been doing all these years?" Barbara said.

Mr. Wilson was shocked for a while before finally asking, "Mom, are you telling us the truth?"

Could it be that Abella did all this a long time ago? Was she really that good to them?

"Whether I say it's true or not, don't you have any clue in your hearts? Putting aside other big corporations, let's just talk about QY. They have such great momentum and promising prospects, why would they collaborate with a small company like yours? Do they value your low intelligence? Or is it something else? Do you have any resources in your hands that would attract QY to actively seek cooperation with you? I don't think so!" Barbara said angrily.

The Wilson couple felt extremely embarrassed by their mother's words.

"If it weren't for you two idiots making all sorts of wrong decisions these years, causing Abella to solve problems for you behind the scenes, with her abilities, forget about being the richest person in New York, you would have been the richest in the whole country!" Barbara continued.

Although Mrs. Wilson didn't believe it, after seeing Grandma's righteous indignation and thinking back to all the things that had happened before, including Abella being able to manage such a big company like QY, she believed it somewhat...

"Serves you right!" Barbara said, unable to hold back her coughs. After a while, she continued, "I can sit here with this attitude all because of Abella. You two should be thankful to her!"

The Wilson couple looked at her in disbelief, unable to fathom exactly how much Abella had done for them!

She didn't know medicine, she didn't contribute financially, why should they thank her?

Seeing their reactions, Barbara chuckled in anger, "You don't actually think that with just the two of you and your abilities, I could afford to stay in this VIP ward for so long, do you?"

This is NYU Medical Center. Even though it's just a regular VIP ward, you can't stay here with just money, it's all about connections!

"Dr. Smith became my attending physician because of Abella! And also, I have to take medication twice a month, costing ten million dollars each time, continuously for three months before the surgery can be performed! Abella provided the medication! And you two, you think just paying the hospital fees and visiting me once every ten days or fortnight is being filial? Abella and I have no blood relation, yet she has helped me the most! You are never satisfied and have repeatedly hurt and humiliated her." Barbara pointed at them.

Mr. Wilson couldn't hear what Barbara said next, his head was buzzing.

Suddenly, he remembered a long time ago, when he was afraid Abella would come to the hospital to cause trouble for Grandma, how he had considered transferring Grandma to another hospital.

But Dr. Smith told him that the best medical resources in the country are at NYU Medical Center, and if she were to be transferred, that Grandma would soon be meeting God.

He consulted Dr. Smith again, asking if there were any other ways to save Grandma, aside from staying at NYU Medical Center.

Dr. Smith mentioned a type of medicine that can only be found on the black market, costing ten million dollars per pill. Grandma would need to take it twice a month for three consecutive months in order to proceed with surgery.

Back then, he hesitated to spend the money, but who would have thought that Abella would.

What Grandma said was exactly the same as what Dr. Smith had told him. If Abella hadn't given Grandma these medicines, how would Grandma have known about the black market, the price of the medicine, and how could she have recovered like this? Her condition was once beyond the capabilities of many doctors...
