Chapter 685 The Fish Took the Bait

Abella listened to Oliver and coolly told Jacques, "Spread his address ASAP."

"Got it." Jacques whipped out his phone and started spreading the word.

Oliver, still rubbing his sore head from being slammed against the wall by Abella, nervously asked, "You guys working for Mr. Harris?"

Abella shot back, "Not your business."

"So, what now?" Oliver asked.

"Hit up the convenience store, grab something, then head home and wait for the fish to bite."

Oliver had no choice but to go along with it.

"We'll head to his place and wait." Abella made sure to walk separately from Oliver. Jacques, a bit uneasy, caught up with her and whispered, "Ms. Medici, you really trust him? What if he bails?"

Abella replied coldly, "He's more scared of us ditching him."

Jacques glanced back and, sure enough, Oliver kept looking over his shoulder, clearly terrified they'd leave him.

"If he wants to live, he has to play ball," Abella said confidently.

Ten minutes later, Oliver came back with a pack of smokes and went home. Not long after, there was a knock on the door.

Oliver didn't dare open it and looked at Abella. She signaled him to ignore it.

The person outside knocked for a bit, then lost patience and kicked the door in. About a dozen masked guys stormed in like they owned the place.

Oliver, pretending to eat noodles, was so scared he dropped his fork and backed away. "Mr. Butler, didn't you say you'd spare me?"

Gregory, the leader, glared coldly. "Finally found you."

He lunged and grabbed Oliver by the throat. "Didn't think you'd hide right under our noses. Since we know each other, I'll personally end you."

Oliver desperately slapped at Gregory's hand, but Gregory's grip was like iron.

He was about to pass out.

Just then, a slender hand shot out. Gregory tried to block, but Abella easily separated them, shielding Oliver. Gregory stared in surprise—'Abella again?'

Suddenly, someone locked the door. Everyone turned to see Jacques standing there.

They realized they were trapped.

"Well, well, setting us up. You've got guts." Gregory sneered.

Oliver, gasping for air, thought he was done for. He didn't expect Abella to save him. Despite her young age, she kept her word.

"Abella, you're something else, finding him before us and flipping him." Gregory sneered at Abella. "You've changed my view of a rich girl, but today, you won't get away!"

"Enough talk." Abella attacked. Gregory pulled out a knife to counter.

Others jumped in. Jacques, seeing Abella in danger, rushed to help.

Gregory was pushed back a couple of steps by Jacques' strike. "Leaving a cushy life to serve Caleb, you must be tired of the easy life."

"Mr. Caleb Harris's got some moves worth learning. But you, betraying his trust and trying to mess with David Harris, today, I'm taking you to Caleb for him to deal with personally."

"Let's see if you can!"

The fight got wild. Suddenly, lightning flashed, and it started pouring. With the skylight busted, rain flooded the small living room, making the floor slick.

One of the goons pulled out a knife to stab Oliver. Abella kicked a wooden stool, nailing the guy in the face.

Another dude threw a knife like a dart at Oliver. Abella yanked Oliver aside, and the knife stuck in the wall where Oliver had been crouching.

Oliver broke into a cold sweat and got shoved into a corner by Abella. Seeing several goons surrounding her, Oliver got anxious. 'How long is this fight gonna last?'

Several goons drew knives and lunged at Abella.

Jacques, focused on taking down Gregory, got slashed on the arm. Clutching his wound, he saw two guys about to stab Abella.

In a split second, Jacques rushed over, kicking one away and using his back to shield Abella from the other.

The sound of a knife cutting into his back reached Abella's ears. At the same time, the door was kicked open, and a bunch of people in black swarmed in.

They quickly formed two lines. Phillipe, standing at the door, looked all noble and aloof, with someone holding an umbrella for him. Seeing Jacques hurt while protecting Abella, his eyes darkened.

Jacques didn't know who the newcomers were, but Gregory recognized Phillipe and started to panic. 'Why is Phillipe here? Does the Harris family have Phillipe's backing? This is bad news.'

Phillipe's crew was clearly better in combat and numbers, quickly taking down Gregory's group.

Abella was about to step forward when Jacques stopped her. "Ms. Medici, we don't know if they're friend or foe. Be careful."

Abella noticed Jacques' pale lips and his blood-soaked back. She pulled out a small bottle of medicine. "Don't move, I'll stop the bleeding."

Phillipe, seeing she was about to treat Jacques, immediately stepped forward. "Let me."

Abella sensed his intentions and handed him the medicine instead. "Why are you here? Who told you I was here?"

Jacques realized they knew each other and seemed pretty familiar.

"I found out." Phillipe poured the powder on Jacques' back. Jacques winced in pain. Phillipe seemed a bit hostile, being so rough.

Abella figured it must have been Sam who tipped him off.

"Looks like he forgot the organization's rules." Abella planned to deal with Sam later. She'd been too lenient, letting him share her info with Phillipe.

"Are you mad I came?" Phillipe asked.

"I can handle this myself," Abella didn't want to involve Phillipe and his crew. Sam must have secretly informed Phillipe, thinking she couldn't handle it alone.

"Ms. Medici, Mr. Bourbon missed you. He mentioned you countless times back home and on the plane. On the way here, he was worried about your safety and urged us to hurry."
