Chapter 511 Conflict Escalated
Compared to Lola, Winston was more concerned about Abella and Nicole's injuries, so he didn't explain much
After hanging up, Lola grew increasingly angry as Winston hadn't called back. Tears streamed down her face.
Maria, who overheard the conversation, sensed something was wrong. Shecautiously asked, "Miss Medici, did Mr. Medici think you were bothering them?"
"Winston is getting more and more outrageous," Lola angrily wiped away her tears and complained, "He refused to answer my call just now. He picked up after I called five times. And when he did, he asked if I had anything important. Can't I call him if there's nothing urgent? His tone was so impatient! It was as if I was interrupting something important!"
Lola cried and ranted, "He even claimed to be occupied and instructed me not to contact him for a few days. What could possibly keep him and Abella so busy? Just eating, sightseeing, and taking pictures? Is that more important than taking my call? He can't even pretend to care!"
After weeping for a while, Lola furiously added, "He says he regards me as a sister, but it's all lies! They are probably having a fantastic time at some beautiful location right now! And that Abella, hearing Winston treat me that way, must be secretly thrilled! She might as well come and flaunt it in my face!"
Lola sniffled. "I don't understand what's so special about her. She always acts so full of herself, yet everyone adores her! Why doesn't anyone like me? Could it be because Abella instructed them not to?"
Maria sighed, "Now you see the significance of family ties."
Lola's eyes welled up with tears. 'Could it truly be because of blood?
Maria added, "Regardless of whether she's cold or not, as long as she has the Medici family blood, the Medici family will naturally cherish her deeply."
"They used to think you were their own, so they treated you exceptionally well. But now that you're not, think about the difference in treatment."
"Mr. Medici used to put on a show when he first came back, but he couldn't keep it up. You just called to check on him, and he treated you like this!"
Maria became increasingly displeased with the Medici family, particularly Winston. Since his return, he had been inseparable from Abella. To an outsider, it would appear as if they were a couple!
'What kind of brother stuck to his sister like that?'
'He was the most useless of the five brothers!'
"I'm so furious, Maria," Lola sobbed in Maria's embrace. "Why do I treat them like family when they don't appreciate it? It's the same with Mom, Dad, my brothers, and even Abella!"
All this time, she had been warm and proactive in trying to get close to them, but they didn't appreciate it!
"They don't care about my feelings at all. None of them care about my feelings!" Lola shouted.
Maria patted her back sympathetically and sighed, "And you can't leave this family. If you leave, Abella will laugh at you even more."
"Maria, what should I do? You're the only one who can help me now," Lola said.
In this family, only Maria was loyal and treated her well.
Maria suggested, patting her back and offering advice, "Before Mr. and Mrs. Medici reveal that you're not their biological daughter, remember that in everyone's eyes, you're still the rightful heiress of the Medici family. Before they disclose this information publicly, seek out a suitable marriage proposal swiftly. Utilize the Medici family as a means to elevate yourself to another affluent family and secure a substantial dowry. Wouldn't that be preferable to enduring mistreatment here?"
"But..." Lola hesitated. She had just started college and didn't want to talk about marriage so soon.
Mainly, she still had a sliver of hope for this family.
She hoped they would treat her well and change their minds, just like before.
Maria stated, "After researching, Phillipe holds the top spot on the global rich list, followed by older men from second to eleventh place. The thirteenth spot is occupied by a notorious playboy. The fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth positions are held by women. The Medici family is seventeenth, while the eighteenth and nineteenth are unsuitable matches. Overall, the most fitting choice for you appears to be the Hall family, ranked thirty-sixth as we previously discussed."
Long ago, Kimberly had discovered Lola harboring fantasies about Phillipe and sharing inappropriate details with him. In response, Maria hastily fibbed, claiming that Lola was already in a relationship.
Henry from the Hall family had been pursuing Lola since middle school, continuing through high school for six years. After the summer following the SATs, Maria, in order to prevent Lola from being thrown out of the house, falsely claimed that Lola had been won over by Henry's sincerity and was attempting to date him, denying any inappropriate feelings for Phillipe.
Subsequently, Lola reluctantly agreed to date Henry, occasionally going out for meals or movies simply to maintain appearances for the family.
Henry thought he had a chance and often bought expensive gifts, driving to the Medici family home just to see Lola when delivering the gifts.
He really liked Lola and treated her like a goddess.
But Lola had no feelings for him.
Maria continued, "Their department store chain has a global presence, with over six thousand stores and a workforce of over two million employees. Henry leveraged his family's assets to establish a logistics company that has recently received funding, boasting a fleet of fifty cargo planes and exclusive route rights. Their air logistics venture has rapidly expanded across the country, emerging as the industry's swiftest player, surpassing other logistics firms."
At this pace, the Hall family could potentially exceed the Medici family and rise to the top in the country, ranking among the top fifteen globally.
"The key is, he's only a freshman and already has such a business mind. The future is promising," Maria said.
How many individuals possess such talents to excel in the business world at a young age?
Observing Lola's hesitation, Maria felt compelled to interject, "He could potentially become the next Philippe! Lola, his family background is decent, he's attractive, and he truly admires you. You should grasp this opportunity."
"Many women, after marrying into wealthy families, have lower status at home without their husband's support."
"But with Henry protecting you, your future will be incredibly bright!"
"Instead of trying to win over Phillipe, who doesn't care about you, why not find someone who loves you? I also want you to be happy."
Lola felt a bit disappointed. Her ex-fiancé, Phillipe, was a highly esteemed figure, admired and envied by many.
