Chapter 545 Hung Up on by Blake
"You've got more talent than her; you just haven't practiced as long," Abella said. "If you work hard, you'll probably surpass her."
"Then I'll practice more and aim for a big improvement."
The short-haired girl was surprised by Abella's encouragement and felt a burst of motivation. She had never thought she could surpass Lola!
"Abella, what did you think of my saxophone performance?"
"How was my piano playing?"
"Was my flute okay?"
People crowded around Abella, seeking her feedback.
Meanwhile, Lola watched Abella, who was getting all the praise, and couldn't snap out of her daze. Even after the crowd left, she stood there, stunned.
Abella had been learning from Clarence for over ten years. Even the famous Go master Ben only got a month's guidance from him.
Why did Abella get so much attention from Clarence? He even came here just to play Go with her!
From what Clarence said, it seemed like she ignored his calls and messages. How could she be so arrogant?
But then again, she was always been like that, acting superior and above everyone else.
Just then, a few girls ran over to Lola.
"Lola, what are you thinking about? You seem so focused."
"Your violin performance was amazing. The judges must have been off; your score should've been higher than Elsa's."
"Yeah, Elsa's violin skills aren't as good as yours. Her performance was terrible."
"I didn't like it either."
Lola knew her friends were trying to cheer her up, and she felt a bit better. She smiled and said, "It's okay, Elsa is also from the Medici family. Her win is a win for all of us, and I'm proud of her."
"Lola, you're so generous."
"This must be the upbringing of a wealthy family heiress. We should learn from you."
"Oh, by the way, Lola, about those concert tickets you promised us..."
Several hopeful eyes looked at her.
Lola smiled. "I'll call Blake right now."
"Awesome! We knew you treat us like real friends."
"Lola, you're so kind. You always help me get concert tickets when I can't."
"I'm so jealous you have a celebrity brother who's so popular and handsome..."
"Lola, your family has such good looks, especially you."
Everyone showered Lola with compliments.
Lola dialed Blake's number in front of them, and people around her couldn't help but say how lucky she was to have a celebrity's phone number.
The call connected quickly.
"Blake, can you get me a few tickets to your concert?" Lola smiled at her friends. "My friends are big fans and couldn't get tickets. You're too popular, and the tickets are too hard to get."
Worried Blake might say no, Lola added, "They've asked me a lot, and I feel bad turning them down, but I don't want to trouble you."
Blake sounded a bit sorry. "Lola, I already gave out the tickets I had. Next time, I'll save more for you."
"None left?" Lola's voice trailed off, feeling the tension around her.
Her friends looked at her with hopeful eyes, urging her to ask Blake again.
Blake had a dozen tickets but promised his manager to save most for family and friends. The rest went to people who had helped him. The best seats were already given to Abella and Phillipe.
"Tell your friends I'm sorry, and I'll save more next time," Blake said, then someone called him. "I have to go rehearse now, talk later."
"Hey, Blake," Lola tried to say more, but he had already hung up.
She looked at her friends and explained, "Blake said he had a dozen tickets, but most were promised to family and friends, and the rest are gone."
"Not even one?"
"But I really want to go to the first concert!"
"Lola, can you ask Blake to sneak us in?"
Celebrities often did that.
"Please, Lola..." everyone pleaded again.
Lola knew Blake was strict and wouldn't let people wander around or hide backstage.
"Blake asked me to apologize and said he'd save more tickets next time. I'm really sorry, I called too late."
Her friends felt disappointed and blamed Lola. They thought she could called Blake and sweet-talked him into letting them in. If she didn't want to help, why promise in the first place? Was it just to show off her celebrity brother?
"Lola, I don't need concert tickets. I've always admired Steven. I heard he's attending a charity gala in New York next Monday and needs a date. Can you recommend me?" a short-haired heiress asked.
Worried Lola might refuse, she added, "Lola, I get that Blake's tickets are hard to get, but Steven is always alone. Just call him and ask if he has a date. If not, recommend me."
"Lola, please help her. If she becomes Steven's wife, she'll make sure he gives you more pocket money."
"Not just pocket money, but shares too."
The short-haired heiress quickly pledged, "If I become Steven's partner, I'll give you all the shares he gives me."
Though Lola felt a bit speechless, the pleading made her pick up her phone.
She dialed Steven's number.
