Chapter 736 Instantly Becoming a Fan
Henry was about to slap on the medicine when Bonnie piped up, "Lola, you not gonna help out?"
Lola suddenly felt a bit cold-hearted in front of Bonnie, considering she was Henry's girl and all.
"Nah, I got this," Henry said, giving Lola a soft look. "Lola's hands are for tickling the ivories."
Bonnie's curiosity was piqued. "Lola, your grandpa said you snagged first place in your last piano showdown? What kind of competition was it?"
"It was a national gig," Lola mumbled, looking a bit sheepish.
Phillipe, sitting across from them, chimed in, "Judged by folks under Abella."
"Wait, what?" Bonnie's eyes widened as she turned to Phillipe. "What do you mean?"
"There's this annual piano contest. Abella's a top judge but usually lets her crew handle it."
Henry and Lola were just as shocked, especially Lola. She couldn't believe her win was judged by Abella's team!
"So, Abella is..."
"Anika Moses," Phillipe dropped the bomb, leaving Bonnie and Henry speechless.
Anika was the queen of the piano world, untouchable. She'd racked up awards left and right, both at home and abroad, and was on par with Clifford Edward!
Someone in showbiz once offered her $20,000 per note to compose a piece, but Anika turned it down! She didn't need the cash or the hassle!
Bonnie, who usually jammed to Anika's tunes, was floored. The piano master she idolized was actually Abella!
And get this, Bonnie knew the president of the national piano association, Lady Rossmary, who was a piano whiz herself. But Lady always gushed about Anika, saying her skills were light years ahead.
So, the person Lady hyped up was her niece Abella?
Bonnie couldn't contain her excitement, turning into a total fangirl. "You're Anika? I adore your music!"
Henry was gobsmacked. He knew Anika was a piano prodigy, but the girl in front of him was so young. How could she be Anika?
But if she wasn't, why would Phillipe lie to Bonnie?
What really threw him was that Bonnie and Abella seemed like family, but not quite? Bonnie didn't even know she was Anika, yet Abella called her "Aunt Bonnie"?
"My niece is a piano genius," Bonnie gushed, "Caleb and Dad would flip if they knew."
Lola had known Abella was Anika for a while, but she didn't expect this to be the first time bringing Phillipe home to meet Bonnie, and Bonnie spent the whole time raving about Abella, her medical skills, and her talent.
She and Henry were totally sidelined!
"Next time, you gotta play a couple of pieces for me live!"
Abella saw Bonnie's excitement and couldn't help but chuckle. "Aunt Bonnie, I'll play as many pieces as you want."
"Awesome!" Bonnie beamed, grinning from ear to ear. "I really like you!"
Realizing she was getting carried away and that Henry and Lola were still there, Bonnie cleared her throat and got serious. "So, what was the deal earlier? Why were you guys scrapping in front of the house?"
Phillipe's eyes zeroed in on Henry.
Henry spoke up, "Before we get into that, can I ask who she is?" He nodded towards Abella.
Bonnie's eyes went wide. She looked between Henry and Lola. "What? Lola, you didn't introduce your sister to your boyfriend?"
Lola's face went pale.
She tried to smile but couldn't pull it off. Bonnie caught on quick.
"This is Abella, from the Medici family, my niece." Henry looked surprised, his gaze lingering on Abella.
"Eighteen years ago, there was a fire at the hospital. Kimberly took the wrong baby and brought Lola home, thinking she was Abella."
Henry stared at Lola in shock. 'Why didn't she ever tell me this?'
"Abella was found six months ago. Since Lola's parents are missing, the Medici family kept her. So now, Abella's the older sister, and Lola's the younger one."
Lola's pride and dignity crumbled with Bonnie's words.
She could feel Henry's shocked and disbelieving gaze on her, but she didn't dare look up.
Henry must be thinking she's not good enough for him now.
The Hall family might not be as prestigious as the Bourbon family, but they were still better off than most.
If she couldn't even keep Henry's heart, what kind of rich guy could she hold onto in the future?
Henry added, "So, the engagement with the Bourbon family got switched to Abella."
These were things Lola had never mentioned before!
Phillipe, sitting across from them, finally spoke up, "Before Abella came back, I barely knew Lola. I was gonna break off the engagement. But then I saw Abella, and we had history. I like her, so the engagement between the Bourbon and Medici families stayed."
Bonnie didn't expect this twist. Phillipe was ready to ditch the engagement just because it was with Lola, ignoring the ties between the Bourbon and Medici families.
This proved he had no love for Lola!
From the start, he really didn't like Lola!
Henry was stunned into silence again. He looked at Lola, unable to believe she'd always told him how romantic Phillipe was and how good he was to her.
"Lola, Henry's your boyfriend. How could you not tell him about this stuff?" Bonnie, sitting at the head of the table, spoke up, "Aren't you supposed to be the closest to each other?"
Lola didn't know how to cover up her lies anymore. Her mind went blank, and she couldn't say a word.
