Chapter 694 Got the Cold Shoulder

"Sorry, we can't spill the beans on our VIP. Step aside," the salesperson said, about to shut the door.

Lola stood her ground, arms crossed, and boasted, "Do you even know how much I dropped at the last store?"

The salesperson, remembering the manager's heads-up about a spoiled rich girl in a pink suit who ticked off Caleb's wife at the last place, thought, 'Caleb's wife made it clear: anyone dealing with her is asking for trouble.'

Even as just a salesperson, she felt the itch to roll her eyes at Lola's stuck-up attitude.

If it weren't for the fact that she worked for a top-tier brand and rolling her eyes would mess with the brand's image, she would've given Lola a big ol' eye roll.

"Miss, no matter how much you've splurged elsewhere or what kind of record you've set, our store has its own standards. Step aside, we don't want you getting hurt."

"I wanna see this so-called VIP. Probably just some rich chick or a mistress."

Seeing Lola wouldn't budge, the salesperson had no choice but to call security.

When two security guards showed up, looking all tough, Lola, not wanting to cause a scene, glared at the salesperson. "Are you nuts? Turning away a paying customer? You're just a salesperson, acting all high and mighty. You lowlife..."

The salesperson, shocked by the insult, felt both angry and wronged.

Lola, feeling a rush of satisfaction from her outburst, strutted to the next store in a better mood.

The salesperson at the next store, already clued in, blocked her at the entrance. "Sorry, you can't come in."

Lola was puzzled. "Why not?"

"We don't want you here."

Lola thought, 'Could this be Abella's doing? But Abella doesn't have that much pull; it must be Phillipe's power! Damn it!'

Lola added, "You don't have to listen to her. I'm more powerful than she is. I just dropped $250 at the last store."

The salesperson replied, stone-faced, "Even if you bought out our whole store today, we wouldn't let you in. Find another place."

"Are you seriously gonna go against me for her?"

The salesperson thought, 'Is this girl for real? No matter her background, who'd dare go against Caleb's wife in Verdania? She's pissed off someone way up there and still has the nerve to talk like this. Is she nuts?'

"Please leave," the salesperson said, motioning for her to go.

Lola, fuming, couldn't believe other stores would be the same. She went to the next store, only to be stopped before she even got in.

It must be Abella!

She couldn't help but shout, "Do you know who I am? Ever heard of the Medici family?"

"Sorry, don't make this hard for us." Several salespeople stood in a line, blocking her way.

Passersby and folks in luxury cars watched her, amused.

In front of everyone, Lola felt totally humiliated. "You've never heard of the Medici family? What about Beckett Medici? You know, the richest guy in Libertya?"

"Sorry, if you don't leave, we'll have to call security."

No matter who you were, in Verdania, you had to step aside for Caleb!

Lola couldn't believe these salespeople were so clueless, not even knowing her dad's name. Seeing more and more people watching, she stomped away, fuming.

She thought, 'Abella, I'm gonna get you back for this!'

Meanwhile, the store manager was personally packing everything, giving the membership discount, then an extra 20% off, and even threw in two extra dresses for Abella.

Seeing Bonnie and Abella competing to pay, the manager couldn't help but compliment, "Mrs. Harris and Ms. Medici, you two have such a great relationship, like mother and daughter. In all my years here, I've never seen such a young mom or such a thoughtful daughter."

"Abella, these clothes are on me. I insist on paying!" Bonnie said firmly, "Besides, you've already bought so many clothes for me. You can't fight me on this."

"Ms. Medici, please let Mrs. Harris pay," the manager interjected, "We wouldn't dare take your money."

Bonnie insisted on paying, and they wouldn't dare take Abella's money.

Seeing Bonnie's determination, Abella smiled. "Alright, you win."

"That's better." Bonnie smiled. "You accepted what I bought for you earlier, so you gotta accept everything I buy now!"

She then noticed a beautiful bag in the corner and was immediately drawn to it.

She picked it up and said, "Abella, look at this. It's perfect for you. It'll look great on you. Let's add this to the package."

Seeing Bonnie's affection, Abella smiled warmly. "Then I'll treat you to dinner later."

"In Verdania, you don't need to pay. Don't be so polite with me!"

As the manager finished packing, Abella was about to pick up the bags when Bonnie took her arm and said, "Someone will carry them later. Come on, let's go eat. You must be starving."

They had spent a long time in that store.

Feeling the warmth of family, Abella couldn't help but smile.

Since reuniting with her biological parents, she had discovered the joy of being loved and cared for by family.

She instinctively linked arms with Bonnie, a gentle smile on her lips.

"Abella, what do you want to eat? Just say it," Bonnie said affectionately, "If you're too shy to say, I'll call Kimberly and ask."

Abella smiled. "I'm not picky. I eat everything. Aunt Bonnie, you pick the restaurant."

"Abella, where did you get this accommodating nature? Did the family that raised you mistreat you?" Bonnie thought Abella's willingness to go along with others was a sign of a kind heart, possibly due to being treated poorly by her previous family, or maybe she was just naturally kind and generous.

"I'll have to ask Kimberly more about you someday," Bonnie said, then thought of a restaurant. "I know a place you'll love. Come on, I'll take you there."
