Chapter 1048 Aren't You Very Resistant to Hits?
Whitney, fuming with rage, hurled the entire tray of pastries at Lola's face.
The delicate pastries were scattered across her collar, legs, and the floor.
Whitney clenched her fists and demanded, "I'm asking you one last time, are you moving out today or not?"
"Mrs. Hall, you have a heart condition. Don't get yourself worked up. If you don't want me here, I'll move out," Lola said, her voice dripping with fake sincerity. "But I can't leave Henry. Even if you make me live in a tiny cottage in the middle of nowhere, with no transportation, barely enough food, and no one to help me, I can accept that. Just let me stay with Henry."
Whitney was livid. "Fine, you won't leave? Someone, get her out of here!"
Two servants, terrified, didn't dare to show themselves.
"Briar? Celestia?" Whitney looked around, surprised that the servants weren't obeying her. She glared at the two-faced Lola in front of her. "You've got some nerve. You've only been here a few days, and already my people are listening to you? Fine, I'll throw you out myself!"
Whitney stood up, and Lola, with tears streaming down her face, clung to her clothes, pleading, "Mrs. Hall, I know you don't like me. If you need to hit me to vent your anger, go ahead. As long as you let me stay with Henry. I'll do anything."
"Lola, can you stop being so pathetic?" Melanie stood up and moved to push Lola's wheelchair.
Lola pressed her hands on the armrests, forcing herself to fall to the ground, begging them.
"Mrs. Hall, Ms. Hall, Henry and I truly love each other. Please, let us be together," Lola said, her emotions running high.
"You, you..." Whitney couldn't believe Lola would go so far as to throw herself to the ground. "No matter how much you beg, you're leaving Henry today! Melanie!"
Melanie immediately stepped forward to help lift Lola back into the wheelchair.
But Lola, like a limp rag, lay on the ground, refusing to cooperate. "Mrs. Hall, Ms. Hall, please don't do this..."
Lola waved her heavily bandaged hands, pretending to accidentally hit them a few times, her long nails deliberately scratching their wrists and hands.
"Lola!" Melanie was furious.
Lola, after flailing enough, clung tightly to Melanie's leg, crying, "I really love Henry."
Whitney couldn't pull Lola off. She tugged at Lola's clothes and even her hair, but Lola wouldn't let go.
"Have you no shame?" Whitney was beyond furious and slapped Lola on the shoulder.
"Mrs. Hall, you can beat me to death, but as long as I have a breath left, I won't leave Henry."
Whitney started punching and kicking her, and Melanie didn't hold back either, joining in.
"What are you doing?" Henry, having rushed over after hearing the commotion, immediately pushed Whitney and Melanie away, tenderly helping Lola up from the floor.
"How did your clothes get wet?" Henry quickly took off his suit jacket and draped it over Lola, seeing her shivering and disheveled, his heart ached as if it were being torn out.
"What did you do to her? Who told you to come here?"
"Henry, why are you back? Weren't you meeting an important business partner today?" Lola, now on the couch, pushed Henry away. "Don't worry about me. Let them vent their anger. You should go back."
"You're like this, and you want me to leave? Where are Briar and Celestia?" Henry, for the first time, couldn't contain his anger.
Briar and Celestia finally appeared, one quickly wiping the coffee stains off the wheelchair, the other off Lola.
"Where were you?" Henry was furious. He had left Lola in their care, and now she was in this state?
"Don't blame them. I told them not to come out. They're just doing their jobs. Besides, I can take a beating. It's not the first time. Don't worry, Mrs. Hall and Ms. Hall won't really kill me. They just need to vent."
"Henry, can't you see she's trying to drive a wedge between us?" Melanie was fuming, especially when Lola shot her a provocative look after speaking.
"Enough!" Henry didn't want to hear any more. "Just because you're my sister, you think you can come here and beat up my girlfriend? Haven't I told you how much I love her? She's important to me."
Henry, still furious, picked Lola up and placed her in the wheelchair, telling Briar, "Take her downstairs to change her clothes."
Briar hurriedly pushed the wheelchair.
"Can't you move faster? Can't you see her clothes are wet? Do you want her to catch a cold?"
Briar, terrified, ran, pushing Lola into the elevator.
"You can take it out on me, but why take it out on her? Did you see her injuries? She's already hurt, and you still hit her?" Henry's angry shouts echoed, even reaching Lola on the second floor. She smirked, feeling triumphant.
From the moment she knew Whitney and Melanie were there, she had planned to provoke them into hitting her. She knew nothing worked better than playing the victim.
Though she took a few hits, it was worth it to deepen Henry's love and push forward their engagement.
Those two bitches thought they could compete with her?
Once she married into the Hall family, she'd have plenty of opportunities to deal with them!
Lola signaled the servant not to push her into the room. She wanted to watch the scene unfold downstairs.
Melanie, red-eyed from Henry's outburst, couldn't believe he was so infatuated with Lola.
Whitney, even more furious, slapped Henry hard across the face.
Both Henry and Melanie were stunned. Whitney, who always doted on Henry, had never hit him before.
Feeling it wasn't enough, Whitney slapped him again, her body trembling with rage. "You ungrateful brat—are you trying to drive us to our graves? You think you're so tough now? That woman means nothing to us! You want to be with her? Fine, protect her once, protect her twice, let's see if you can protect her forever! She can take a beating? I'll hit her every time I see her!"
