Chapter 864 Get Off the Car and Inspect
Sterling had planned to play dirty, but Abella's car kept accelerating, leaving him in the dust.
Abella's sports car could hit 210 mph, while his could go up to 217 mph. Yet, no matter how hard he floored it, he couldn't catch up to her.
He couldn't even keep pace.
Maybe it was those few seconds he eased off the gas during the earlier turns that put him at a disadvantage.
Distracted, he suddenly noticed debris on the road and swerved to avoid it, causing sparks to fly as his car grazed the guardrail. By the time he regained control, Abella had widened the gap even further.
This stretch of road occasionally had falling rocks that could hit the windshield or land on the pavement. It was a common occurrence. He usually paid extra attention to this during practice or races, but tonight Abella's performance had him so rattled that he lost focus.
Watching Abella cross the finish line far ahead, the Boeing team erupted in cheers.
"Awesome!"
"Abella is incredible!"
"We won? The Boeing team won!"
Many spectators stood up, cheering and shouting, surprised that the Boeing team had managed to crush the competition in the first round.
Sean clenched his fist in excitement. "Yes, that's so cool."
Dennis watched the red sports car return to the starting point via another route. The Boeing team members crowded around her, celebrating. The car window rolled down, revealing a beautiful, unfamiliar face.
With so many people surrounding Abella, Dennis handed his binoculars to Louie and went inside to check the surveillance footage.
"Zoom in." Louie knew exactly who Dennis wanted to see. He quickly tapped the smart screen on the wall, enlarging the image of the red sports car. Someone handed the driver a bottle of water, and Louie and Dennis could clearly see the girl's face.
Delicate and beautiful features, a cool and aloof demeanor—this wasn't the Boeing team's captain, Saskia! She looked more like the girl who caused trouble last night, with the same bun hairstyle, cold eyes, and proud demeanor.
If it wasn't her, who else could it be?
"How could it be her..." Louie was surprised that Dennis had come to watch the race, but didn't see Saskia. Where was she? Wasn't she eager to get the Velocity Circuit track?
"I'll go get her right now..." Louie had been unable to track down the girl, but tonight she had practically fallen into their lap.
"Hold on." Dennis stepped into the elevator. "I'll go meet her."
Louie was stunned. Was Dennis planning to race her himself?
Dennis had founded the Drift team and always held the position of captain, but he had never led the team in any races. He usually let Sterling, the vice-captain, handle the competitions.
This girl's driving skills must have piqued Dennis's interest. Although Dennis hadn't raced with the Drift team, he had competed in numerous international races. He had another identity: a top-tier racer.
"Abella, you're amazing! Your first race, and you drove so fast, so well."
"You even left Sterling far behind. I couldn't believe my eyes. No one has ever managed to leave Sterling behind like that, except their captain, Mr. Medici."
Abella raised an eyebrow. Ever since she arrived in Britonia, she kept hearing this person all the time.
Was it the same person, or just a coincidence with similar names?
"No wonder Saskia asked you to step in. You're incredible!"
"You were so modest earlier, saying you only knew how to go forward, reverse, and brake. You clearly drive exceptionally well."
"You're a hidden gem!"
"We're definitely going to win the Velocity Circuit tonight!"
As the Boeing team celebrated with Abella, Sterling pushed past his consoling teammates and stormed over, angrily slapping the hood of Abella's car.
"Get out." He was so furious that he didn't care about his image, gritting his teeth. "There's no way you drove faster than me. Be honest, did you modify your car? Turn off the engine and get out, let me check."
Abella remained in the driver's seat, ready for the second race, so she didn't waste time getting out.
The Boeing team members stood protectively in front of her. "If you want Abella to get out for inspection, admit you're not as skilled. Then she might consider letting you check."
Sterling was in no mood for their nonsense. He had every reason to suspect Abella had modified her car and bought the track map. Otherwise, how could she beat him, a professional racer? Abella had never shown up in any races before; she must be hiding something!
"Our vice-captain asked you to get out, and you're not coming out?"
"If you didn't modify your car, what are you afraid of?"
"Whether it's modified or not, we'll know after checking."
"Get out!"
The Drift team members stepped forward, pressuring her.
Suddenly, a voice rang out from the crowd. "The vice-captain of the Drift team can't handle losing and is bullying a girl in public. Aren't you afraid of being laughed at?"
Everyone turned towards the voice, showing some apprehension.
Even Sterling's expression darkened. Sean was the sole heir of the Gray family, a status not to be trifled with.
"Mr. Gray, you don't understand. This girl is racing on the Velocity Circuit for the first time, yet she's incredibly familiar with the track and drives faster than me..."
Sterling forced a smile, but Sean replied, "That just means you're not as skilled."
"If you want her to get out for inspection, you should discuss it with her and get her consent, not slap her car and force her out with a group of people. If she didn't modify her car, would you dare to apologize to her in front of everyone?"
Abella looked up. A young man stood in the spectator area, separated from the track by a metal fence, but his righteous words were clear.
His attire was expensive, clearly not an ordinary rich kid. Sterling and his team had shown obvious apprehension upon seeing him.
So, he had a significant background.
"If I misunderstood her, I can apologize, but first, she needs to get out and let us inspect the car!" Sterling insisted on finding an excuse for his failure.
To everyone's surprise, Abella turned off the engine, put on a black mask, opened the car door, and stepped out.
Sean hadn't expected the girl to be so slender and tall. Seeing her up close, the visual impact was far greater than the fleeting glimpse he had earlier.
