Chapter 329 Unexpected Encounter
"I don't need them!" Isla snapped, her eyes flashing with contempt as she dismissed Daisy's offering. "I can buy my own things at the canteen."
Daisy, undeterred, pressed a wad of cash into Isla's hand. "Call Mom if this isn't enough."
Despite deeming the money insufficient, Isla accepted it begrudgingly. "Fine, you can leave now."
"Remember to call if you need anything," Daisy insisted.
"Yeah, yeah," Isla muttered, her attention already elsewhere.
As Isla turned to head back to school, she locked eyes with Abella and her group. Frustration bubbled over, and she confronted Clare. "What's your deal? This is between Abella and me. Are you her lapdog, that’s why you are always snapping at me?"
"And what does that make you? You're worse than swine, considering how you treat Abella." Clare shot back.
"How we treat her is none of your business," Isla retorted.
Clare stood her ground. "Mess with Abella, you mess with me. Pull another stunt, and I won't hesitate to confront you."
"Don't get too cocky; even the mightiest can fall," Isla sneered, her threat thinly veiled.
Abella cut in with icy resolve. "Touch her, and you're asking for trouble. Want to end up like those in jail? Try me."
Daisy, witnessing the altercation, stepped forward to intervene, but Isla sharply cut her off. "Stay out of it!"
"We'll just see about that," Isla spat before storming off.
Daisy approached, and Clare quickly explained her side. "She started by calling me a dog. I had to respond."
Daisy bowed deeply, her apology sincere. "She's changed lately, and I'm sorry for her behavior. Please, don't retaliate."
Clare was taken aback by Daisy's plea. "We won't, unless she provokes us. We're not her mother."
With that, they parted ways, leaving Daisy hoping Isla wouldn't stir further trouble.
"That Isla's mother seems kind. How did she end up with such a daughter?" Joanna wondered aloud.
Josie chimed in, confused by Isla's attitude towards her mother.
"That's her foster mother," Clare clarified.
"Foster mother? Where's her biological mother?" Joanna and Josie asked together.
"In jail." Clare said simply.
The girls digested this new information as the school's announcement system broadcasted a notice about the bullies' punishment, a public reprimand.
Joanna and Josie felt justice had been served, but Clare knew the consequences for Abella could have been far more severe.
"Why haven't we been reprimanded?" Josie pondered, puzzled.
Clare revealed that Abella had erased the surveillance footage of their counterattack.
Both girls were astounded. "Abella, you're incredible," Joanna said, newfound respect in her eyes.
Clare agreed, knowing Abella's capabilities extended far beyond academics. She couldn't help but wonder about Abella's past relationship with Phillipe.
"Hey, Abella," Clare teased,. "Has your man been searching for you?"
Before Abella could reply, her gaze drifted to a familiar figure in the distance.
Phillipe?
What brought him to school today?
