Chapter 112 Forbidden Thoughts about You?

With a loud "bang," the office door slammed shut.

At that exact moment, Adeline's back violently collided with the cold door panel.

Jasper pinned her neck, his gaze icy. "Who gave you the audacity to spread rumors about me?"

Adeline felt her breath being squeezed out of her.

The air escaped her lungs, and she gasped hoarsely. "I was just expressing my personal opinion."

His stare intensified, his eyes colder. "So your 'personal opinion' is that I wanted to be engaged to Molly because I like her?"

"And what if it is?"
Adeline lifted her gaze, her eyes defiant. "I've said it before. There are many ways to care for someone. There's no need to pretend like that."

She had crafted countless excuses for him during her time abroad, wanting to believe that her past judgments were incorrect.

She wanted to find reasons for him, too!

There was that tiny sliver of hope, hoping that it wasn't him, that he had nothing to do with Molly, that he still loved her.

But she had to confront the harsh reality!

The reality was that he and Molly had conspired together, hand in glove.

They not only went behind her back but also plotted her car accident and her supposed infidelity.

They even used a fake suicide note to cover up their illicit affair.

Disgusting! Utterly revolting!

Jasper did everything despicable and annoying; in the end, he declared that Adeline was his true love.

His involvement with Molly? Just looking out for her, he said.

Almost everybody believed this clumsy lie.

But Adeline didn't buy a word of it!

Jasper's fingers tightened around her neck, and his voice grew lower and colder. "You've decided that because I played the role of Molly's fiancé, I must have feelings for her."

"Right now, you and I are still in a relationship."

"Do you also think I have improper thoughts about you?"

"And what if I do?" she countered, amused by his anger.

Caught red-handed, he was raging with embarrassment.

She looked up, her eyes calm. "If you have no improper thoughts about me, Mr. Foster, why, of all the women in the world, do you choose to play this charade with me?"

Her pink lips kept moving, uttering words that fueled his anger.

Jasper's eyes narrowed, anger rising to his head as he fixated on her lips, his gaze intense.

"Isn't it because…Umm!"

Before Adeline could finish, Jasper's lips crashed onto hers with fury and restlessness, violently silencing her protests.

Adeline's instinct was to struggle and resist.

But the physical disparity between men and women was too great.

She was no match for Jasper.

So she let him kiss her until all her rationality was stolen away.

Her mind went blank, leaving only the storm-like onslaught of his kiss.

They lost track of the time.

"Mr. President."

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

The disheveled pair froze in response.

"Uh, your father is here, waiting downstairs."

Adeline quickly pushed Jasper off of her.
The man closed his eyes and took a long, deep breath.
When they reopened, his inscrutable gaze had regained its clarity.
He looked down, neatly straightening his disheveled collar with an air of unaffected grace as he spoke indifferently, "Tell him to wait a few more minutes. I'll be right down."
"Understood."
As Ryan's footsteps receded, Adeline leaned wearily against the door, exhaling a deep breath of relief.
When she collected herself again, the man stood in front of her, impeccably dressed, looking down at her with an air of superiority. His voice was icily detached. "I do not want today's incident to repeat."
"In this company, you can cross anyone; just don't cross me."
With that, he moved to leave.
But Adeline stepped forward, arms outstretched, blocking his path.
"Is there something on your mind?"
His eyebrows furrowed with visible annoyance.
"Yes."
Taking a deep breath, Adeline lifted her chin. "If I recall correctly, Mr. Foster, during your visit to the design department, you said we were having lunch together?"
"Hmm."
The man's brow furrowed slightly. "There was a photo taken for the press release."
A small smile played on Adeline's lips; she'd anticipated this.
Standing her ground, she looked up at his chiseled jawline, "I'd like to negotiate terms now."
"What terms?"
"I was too naive before, thinking that I could get what I wanted by occasionally playing the part."
"But considering what happened this morning and just now…"
She deliberately licked her swollen lips, which his kiss had reddened and continued, "I think I'm at a loss."
"So, you want to negotiate conditions with me, and if I don't agree, you'll embarrass me in front of others?"
Jasper crossed his arms and stared at her coldly. "I underestimated you."
This woman had initiated a relationship and cooperated at every turn; he thought she wanted nothing more.
Unexpectedly, her schemes were deeper.
First, she had aligned with him, letting him publicly declare their relationship, and now she was using it as leverage to gain more ground.
Of course, he could deny her demands, but having just announced their union, to be refuted by her would be an insult, especially for someone of Jasper's stature.
"All's fair in love and war."
Adeline's lips curled into a smile as she looked at Jasper's face. "Mr. Foster, relax. I won't ask for anything unreasonable."
"It’s something you can accomplish without it being a significant inconvenience."
His glance swept over her with dispassionate scrutiny. "Speak."
With another deep breath, Adeline clenched her fists discreetly at her sides, "I want to see Molly."
Jasper's brows furrowed.

"What do you want with her?"

"I have my matters to attend to."

She took a deep breath, struggling to control her emotions. "I am aware that she is well-protected by you now."

"I just want to see her. It won't harm her or affect any decisions or relationships between you and her."

"And I won't let out that she's still in Denver."

"It's just a meeting."

"That shouldn't be a problem for Mr. Foster, right?"

Jasper's eyes narrowed, gazing steadily at her.

His gaze was sharp and cold, as if he intended to see through Adeline's secrets.

She couldn't bear the weight of his scrutiny and quickly turned away. "Will you agree, Mr. Foster?"

The only response was his even breathing.

After a moment, his lips barely parted as he spoke, "I suppose I could agree to your request."

"But…" His mysterious eyes suddenly fixed intensely on her face. "Why do you harbor such hate for her?"
