Chapter 386 I Really Can't Afford to Offend

"Yes, Miss Wilson," Lucia said upon receiving Adeline's order before leaving.

Luna stood beside Jasper, her nose wrinkled in grievance, her mouth downturned, and tears welling up in her eyes. "Ms. Wilson, what do you mean?" she asked. "Are you saying I'm slandering Anne?"

Her voice trembled with sobs. "Fine, just assume I'm talking nonsense and slandering Anne! I am wrong!"

Luna began to wipe her tears while sobbing. "It's my fault," she said.

"On my first day at work, the design department caused such an uproar that they had to start reviewing the surveillance footage, turning me into the laughingstock of the entire company," Luna stated.

"I shouldn't have felt bored and thought of working at the Foster Group, and I definitely shouldn't have come to the design department to offend Miss Wilson, making her unhappy," she lamented.

"Moreover, I shouldn't have been so startled by Anne that I spilled my coffee, causing injury to her."As Luna spoke, she cried even more, tears streaming down her face. "It's all my fault. Just assume it's all my fault."

The more she spoke, the more unstable her breathing became.

Jasper frowned, worried about her health, and quickly supported her.

Luna took the opportunity to collapse softly into Jasper's arms, her back still trembling with sobs. "Jasper, I was wrong.," she said. "You should have HR fire me. Don't fire Miss Wilson's assistant."

Seeing Luna's face grow increasingly pale and her breath weaken, Jasper knew she was on the verge of a severe episode.

He bit his lip and glared at Adeline. "Do you have to make such a big deal out of this and embarrass Luna?" he asked.

"She's my girlfriend. Even if she did something wrong, do you have to humiliate her in front of so many people?"Jasper looked at Adeline, his voice and gaze equally cold.

Adeline stood there, feeling dizzy. How long had Jasper known this Ms. Jones? Three days? In just three days, he could talk to her like this for Luna! Even if he had no feelings for her, even if his previous affection with her was all an act! But she was still the mother of his three children!

Thinking of this, she suddenly found it laughable.

Why did she have to justify that she was the mother of his three children? He wasn't even willing to pay for Blake's medical expenses. Did Jasper still deserve to be Blake and Lauren's father? He didn't.

Adeline took a deep breath, her voice cold. "But Mr. Foster, I originally wanted to let this go. It was you who said you wanted to fire my assistant. I argued with you, presented the facts, and defended my employee. Is that wrong?"

Adeline's words made Luna cry even harder.

"Jasper, stop it." Luna sobbed, her face pale. "Don't argue with Miss Wilson for me. Just assume it's my fault."

As Luna spoke, her breathing became rapid, and her gaze started to scatter.

Jasper's eyes darkened; he knew Luna was currently having an episode.

The doctor had advised previously that she couldn't be emotionally unstable, or it could lead to further health problems!

For her and Blake's health, he had initially refused to let Luna work at the company!

But Luna insisted that staying at home was boring, and he didn't dare to refuse her, so he let her work in the design department.

Unexpectedly, in less than half a day, Luna had such a big conflict with Adeline. And the main reason for this conflict was related to Adeline's three assistants!

Thinking of this, Jasper steeled himself and directly picked Luna up. He stated, "I'm taking you to the hospital."

He then turned  to give Adeline a cold look as he warned her, "I won't fire your assistant, but you better keep them in line!

"If I find out they are targeting Luna again or saying anything about kicking her out, I won't show any mercy!"

Upon speaking, Jasper carried Luna and left in large strides.

He didn't even finish listening to Adeline before leaving.

He only cared about Luna's feelings; because Luna cried too much and was upset, he took her to the hospital.

But he never cared about Adeline, who had just lost two children and was still struggling to pay for the medical expenses of the other two. Did he ever think about how she felt?

Watching Jasper leave, Adeline felt more and more like a fool.

How could she have believed Jason's words and thought Jasper had fallen for her, that his so-called affection was real?

Even if he hadn't had a sexual relationship with Molly six years ago or planned her car accident.

So what? A man who didn't care about her or their children. How good could he be?

"Mr. Foster is really devoted to Ms. Jones..." one employee remarked.

Another said, "I wish I had a man who would take me to the hospital if I cried and felt wronged. So considerate."

A third employee whispered, "Keep your voice down. Don't let Ms.Wilson hear. She must be feeling terrible seeing Mr. Foster and Ms. Jones so affectionate."

A fourth employee suggested, "Yeah, let's get back to work. Ms.Wilson is in a breakup state now; we can't afford to provoke her."

Although the employees deliberately lowered their voices, Adeline heard every word clearly.

Adeline coldly curled her lips into a smile.

Sad? Heartbroken? For Jasper? Did he deserve it?

Taking a deep breath, Adeline composed herself and turned back to her office.

Sitting in her chair, she looked at the drafted plans on her desk. For the first time, she felt she couldn't continue her work.

Every time she picked up the pen, the image of Jasper gently carrying Luna away appeared in her mind.

She threw the pen down, covered her head with her hands, and kept cursing herself in her mind.

"Adeline," Lucia called out to her.

At this moment, Lucia, who had gone to the surveillance room, returned with a disappointed look. "The surveillance room said they can't release the footage without Mr. Foster's permission.

"I told them I lost something and wanted to see who took it in the design department. Then they only allowed me to take a quick look but didn't let me take the footage."

After speaking, Lucia took a deep breath and pulled out her phone from her pocket. "I secretly recorded it. Do you want to see it?" she suggested.

Adeline was intrigued and took the phone from Lucia.

The phone contained the surveillance footage of Luna and Anne during that time.

It was evident that, although Luna could have taken a shorter path to reach Lucia while carrying her coffee, she deliberately chose a longer route.

Before Luna arrived, Anne was already restlessly searching for something, muttering incessantly under her breath.

As Luna approached Anne with the coffee, she approached slowed down and adjusted the angle of the coffee cup in her hand.

Finally, when Anne irritably closed the drawer, Luna spilled the coffee.

In a moment of frustration, Luna even considered pouring the remaining coffee on Anne's back.

"You were right. Ms. Jones did it on purpose," Lucia sighed as she looked at Adeline. "I think Ms. Jones knew Anne was your assistant, so she deliberately targeted Anne to give you a hard time, to show you that she's not someone to be trifled with."

Adeline gazed intently at the surveillance video again. "I really can't mess with her."

Lucia paused for a moment, then said, "Adeline, you should not concede so easily. Should I show this video to Mr. Foster and let him see what kind of person Ms. Jones really is?"
