Chapter 727 Is Adeline Really Worth It
Jasper had spent the whole day in the garden of Magnolia Estate.
As evening rolled in, Joseph started whining about being hungry and insisted that Jasper and Oliver take him out for some good food.
Jasper checked his watch; it was already 6 PM.
He quickly spoke a few words into his voice recorder, telling Adeline he'd see her tomorrow, then packed up his things and left.
After they left, Adeline let out a long sigh of relief.
Finally, they were left.
Otherwise, she had no idea how she would sneak out to meet Brandon at Lucky Restaurant without Jasper noticing.
Adeline took a deep breath, put away the voice recorder handed to her by a servant, and went upstairs to change clothes.
Downstairs, Mia, dressed in red, frowned at her. "Are you really going?"
Adeline nodded, putting on her trench coat. "That jade ring is important. I need to get it back as soon as possible."
When the seven-day deadline arrived, she planned to give the jade ring to Jasper when she saw him.
Maybe then, she could uncover the mystery behind Esther's death.
Mia pouted. "But Blake and Bennett said they've set up signal jammers here. If you go out, you might be tracked. That would be dangerous."
Adeline smiled. "It's even more dangerous to have Brandon come here to find me."
She spoke as she walked out the door. "Don't worry, I'm not meeting anyone else. Brandon will make sure I'm well-hidden. I'll be back soon."
With that, Adeline left.
Mia watched her leave, biting her lip in worry.
They had been here for almost a month without any trouble.
Was it really worth taking such a big risk for a jade ring?
Mia suddenly remembered. She had a jade ring that she had forgotten to return to Joseph!
Thinking of this, Mia quickly rummaged through her suitcase and found the ring.
She had picked it up a while ago and had always meant to return it to Joseph, but kept forgetting every time they met.
So, when she came to Oceancrest City, she made sure to pack it, knowing that Joseph and Oliver were from here and she would eventually see them.
But with everything going on, she had completely forgotten about it!
After placing the jade ring on the table, Mia began to worry about Adeline's safety again.
She just couldn't trust Brandon.
After some thought, she picked up her phone and dialed Oliver's number.
The call was quickly answered.
Oliver's voice was calm. "Business or personal?"
By "business," he meant helping Ryan with matters related to the Foster Group.
Mia pursed her lips. "Personal."
Oliver immediately hung up.
Listening to the dial tone, Mia's eyes widened in anger. She dialed the number again.
After a long wait, the call was answered. "Speak."
Mia was instantly annoyed. "Oliver! Do you think I'd call you if it wasn't important? Even if it's personal, it's not your business! Where's Jasper? I need to talk to him!"
Oliver frowned, glancing at Jasper, who was video chatting with three kids from Radiance Springs. He put the phone on speaker. "Go ahead."
Mia suppressed her anger. "Adeline just left to meet Brandon at Lucky Restaurant. I don't trust Brandon. Shouldn't you guys keep an eye on her?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Jasper and the kids in the video chat fell silent.
Joseph, munching on a chicken leg, pointed to the words on the plate. "Aren't we at Lucky Restaurant right now?"
"Got it," Oliver replied calmly and hung up.
By the time he put his phone away, Jasper had ended his video call.
They were in a private room on the second floor.
"Mr. Torres is here!" a waiter announced loudly from downstairs.
Jasper and Oliver exchanged glances.
Oliver handed Jasper a bodyguard uniform. "Hide your identity first. Let's see what he's up to."
Jasper nodded and went to the restroom to change.
When Jasper came out of the restroom in his bodyguard uniform and sunglasses, he overheard Brandon's men talking on a walkie-talkie.
"Remember Mr. Torres's instructions? When Adeline arrives, Team One will create a distraction and discreetly plant trackers on her bag and clothing. Team Two will monitor these trackers and swiftly attempt to locate her residence. Team Three will follow her upon departure and meticulously track her movements. Do not lose her. Team Four will manage security inside Lucky Restaurant. Mr. Torres stated that if Adeline appears, there is a possibility Jasper will follow. If Jasper is spotted, eliminate him immediately. A million-dollar reward will be granted by Mr. Torres to whoever kills Jasper."
With that, the man ended the call and walked away.
Jasper, now dressed as a bodyguard, walked out of the restroom with a cold smile.
Jasper thought, 'Does Brandon really think my life is only worth a million dollars? Is he underestimating me, or is the Torres family that cheap? But...' he narrowed his eyes.
Brandon had prepared four teams. It seemed he was determined to find Adeline's residence tonight.
Jasper could guess that Brandon wanted to know Adeline's location to use some old trick to force her into marrying him.
He couldn't let that happen!
Jasper returned to Oliver's room, and they devised a plan.
First, they would have Joseph find Adeline and slip a signal jammer onto her.
Second, while Brandon had many men, tracking Adeline was less important to him than killing Jasper.
If Jasper showed up when Adeline left, Brandon would likely focus all his men on killing Jasper.
This would allow Oliver to switch Adeline's car with his and get her to safety.
After finalizing the plan, Oliver lit a cigarette and looked at Jasper. "Are you really going to let Brandon see you? That would make you a target."
Jasper lowered his eyes. "It doesn't matter."
He couldn't hide forever.
Besides, David had already secretly brought people to Oceancrest City to take over the local gangs.
If he wanted, he could make Oceancrest City his domain; it was just a matter of time.
Oliver looked at Jasper with newfound respect.
But he still raised an eyebrow. "Is Adeline really worth all this? You've been outside her place for days, and she won't even see you. But she knows it's dangerous to meet Brandon and still went."
