Chapter 472 Jasper Won't Let You Go
"You know deep down if it was boiling water that burned you," Mia sneered, flipping through the files on the USB drive.
"Here's a burn from ten minutes of boiling water. This one's from coffee. And this last one? That's Ms. Jones's burn. Which one does it match?"
The room went dead silent after Mia finished talking.
Finally, someone piped up, "Ms. Jones's burn looks a lot like the one from boiling water."
Mia nodded, repeating what the doctor had said when Adeline took Jasper to see him, "Coffee's for drinking, so it's usually not as hot as boiling water."
Luna's face twisted in anger. She bit her lip and glared at Mia. "You can't just say that! The coffee that burned me was meant for Miss Wilson, and it was made with boiling water. So yeah, it's possible I got burned like this."
Luna's words made Adeline frown.
Adeline asked, "So, Ms. Jones, you used boiling water to make my coffee that day?"
She smirked coldly. "Were you trying to please me with scalding hot coffee, or were you trying to hurt me?"
Adeline's question left Luna speechless.
Luna had been so focused on blaming Adeline for her burn that she forgot this crucial point. If she made Adeline's coffee with boiling water and served it right away, she intended to burn Adeline. If she didn't use boiling water, just hot water, she wouldn't have been burned like this.
Luna was stunned, cornered by Adeline and Mia's logic, and couldn't find any words.
In the hall, disbelief in Luna grew louder, and the murmurs about her spread.
Luna's face went pale.
"You don't need to explain," Mia said with a smile. "I know how you got your burn."
Mia chuckled and played the last video.
In the video, Luna was alone in the VIP ward. After a phone call, she walked to a kettle of boiling water, picked it up, and poured it over her own stomach.
Everyone in the room was shocked by Luna's twisted face in the video.
Even Luna was stunned. She stared blankly at the surveillance video, her mind buzzing. How could this be? She had checked for cameras that day! Where did Mia get this?
Seeing Luna's confusion, Mia laughed. "It's a VIP ward. Do you think they wouldn't use surveillance to avoid liability? Plus, it's rude to openly use cameras for VIPs. So, this is the hospital's hidden surveillance."
Luna was speechless.
She had been too anxious, only looking for obvious cameras. But she forgot some hospitals use hidden cameras to avoid liability and monitor VIPs' emotions.
Now, everything she did was shown to everyone by Mia. Her burn was self-inflicted.
Nothing hit harder than that video. Luna shut her eyes. At this point, nothing she said would make a difference.
After a few seconds of silence, the room exploded into chaos.
Almost everyone who had backed Luna against Adeline realized they’d been played.
The whole story about Adeline bullying Luna half a month ago? Total fiction.
Luna’s burn? A setup by Luna herself. She had two plans: steal Adeline’s designs and frame her for the burn.
In the end, Luna did get burned, but it was self-inflicted in the VIP ward with boiling water! Her goal was to frame Adeline!
With these two things cleared up, other issues like Adeline bullying her, not letting her work on core designs, and pushing her down became less important. It was obvious Luna was framing Adeline.
The room buzzed with voices condemning Luna.
But Mia wasn’t done. She pulled up a few photos after the video. "I want to clear up one more thing. There’s a reason Adeline didn’t let Luna handle the key tasks in jewelry design."
Mia showed the photos one by one. "These are some basic detail designs and light and shadow drawings Adeline asked Luna to do. Anyone who knows design can see these are basic tasks. These are Ms. Jones’s designs. If you were the team leader, would you let someone like this handle core designs?"
The hall went silent for a moment, then erupted into laughter and angry shouts.
Richard, who had been quiet, frowned. "This level?" He glanced at Luna. "How did you get into Moon’s team?"
"Isn’t it obvious?" Timothy, standing next to Adeline, sneered. "Ms. Jones is Mr. Foster, the CEO of the Foster Group’s girlfriend."
Richard frowned, looked at the competition organizer, Jerry, then back at Luna. "Are these elementary-level designs really yours?"
Luna bit her lip; she knew she’d embarrassed herself enough today. She couldn’t let this go on!
Taking a deep breath, Luna denied, "They’re not mine. I have some artistic skills, or Jasper wouldn’t have let me join Miss Wilson’s team."
"So, you’re saying I’m framing you?" Mia smiled, pulling out a piece of paper and a pen. "Then why don’t you prove your skills on the spot, Ms. Jones?"
Looking at the paper and pen, Luna gritted her teeth. Mia wanted to ruin her!
Luna trembled as she took them, her body shaking, her voice choking, "I..."
Before she could finish, Luna fainted. The paper and pen fell to the ground.
Mia frowned and sneered. "What, you know you can’t prove yourself, so you’re pretending to faint?"
Before she could finish, Jasper rushed onto the stage from backstage.
"Mia, don’t push it," he said coldly, then carried Luna and left.
Standing there, Adeline watched Jasper leave with Luna amidst the boos and curses, her heart aching.
"Mia, you’re too much." After Jasper left with Luna, Jason, who had followed Jasper from backstage, frowned at Mia. "Luna has a terminal illness! If she has an episode today, Jasper won’t forgive you!"
