Chapter 533 Take Me to See Her

Jasper got shoved aside by Adeline. He stumbled, almost losing his balance.

He frowned, about to say something, but then he saw Adeline curled up like a shrimp, trembling all over.

"It hurts," she muttered.

Seeing her like this, a wave of sorrow hit Jasper. How did this happen? She was fine just yesterday. What went wrong?

Heartbroken, Jasper moved closer, wanting to pick her up. But even in her pain, Adeline knew it was him without even looking.

As he reached out, she pushed him away. It was a small push, but strong.

Sweat dotted Adeline's forehead, whether from pain or the effort of pushing him away.

Jasper was stunned. She was in so much pain, yet she still used all her strength to push him away. Did she really distrust him that much?

Just then, the head of the mental hospital rushed in. "Quick, help her up and get her back to her room! Prepare the medication!"

Watching the caregivers lift Adeline, the head turned to Jasper with a fawning look. "Mr. Foster, are you alright? I saw you got pushed by this patient. Patients in her condition are very strong. Are you hurt?"

Jasper ignored him, his eyes fixed on Adeline being taken away.

As they passed the doorway, her left pinky finger hit the door frame, wobbling weakly. Adeline gasped in pain.

Jasper's brow furrowed deeply. Her hand was hurt!

He pushed the head aside and rushed forward, grabbing Adeline's left wrist.

When his fingers touched her hand, she gasped in pain again.

"What happened?" Jasper pulled off her glove.

What he saw was shocking. Her once slender and fair left hand was covered in wounds she had scratched herself. Her pinky finger was wrapped in thick bandages, clearly out of control even with the bandages.

A flash of pain crossed Jasper's eyes.

He wanted to unwrap the bandages to see the damage, but the head of the mental hospital, Gary Walker, stopped him.

"Mr. Foster, please don't. It's better not to look," Dr. Walker said, pulling Jasper's arm.

Jasper's brow furrowed, his voice turning cold. "Dr. Walker, you told me you'd take good care of her. Is this what you call taking good care of her?"

Dr. Walker quickly instructed the caregivers to take Adeline to her room, sighing lightly. "Mr. Foster, you saw it yourself yesterday. Adeline scratched the flesh off her hand right in front of you. Patients with her condition always self-harm when they feel cornered and stressed. We've done our best to protect her, but doctors and nurses can't watch her every second."

Dr. Walker sighed. "Miss Wilson was fine last night. Our caregivers didn't expect her to break her finger in the middle of the night when everyone was resting."

That left even the usually composed Jasper speechless. She broke her own finger. How much pain must she have been in?

Seeing Jasper silent, Dr. Walker knew he had accepted his explanation. So he sighed again. "We put gloves on her today to prevent her from hurting herself again. I remember you said her hands were beautiful and shouldn't be scarred."

Jasper clenched his fists at his sides. He grabbed Dr. Walker by the collar, lifting him. "You remember what I said, yet you let her get hurt like this? Do you not want this job anymore?"

Dr. Walker panicked. In all the years he'd known Jasper, this was the first time he'd seen the usually elegant and composed man so angry. In his rage, Jasper even got physical.

Dr. Walker's lips trembled, and his voice shook. "This was indeed our failure in supervision."

Jasper coldly let go, and Dr. Walker fell to the ground. Jasper turned away, not looking at him. "Prepare her discharge papers. If you can't take care of her, I'll take her myself."

The image of Adeline's pain-stricken face flashed before Jasper's eyes, and his heart felt like it was being stabbed. If Dr. Walker and his staff couldn't take care of Adeline, letting her break her own finger during an episode, then Jasper would take care of her himself. He would never allow such a thing to happen to Adeline!

Seeing Jasper's serious attitude, Dr. Walker bit his lip and quickly got up. "Mr. Foster, please don't be angry. I know Miss Wilson is very important to you. Her broken finger is indeed our fault. I'll assign more caregivers to watch over her! Please don't take her away. In our hospital, she can receive the most systematic treatment. When she has an episode, we have sedatives to calm her down. If you take her away and she has an episode, hurting herself is one thing, but if she hurts your two children, that would be even worse!"

Dr. Walker's words made Jasper's eyes narrow slightly. He knew he wasn't a professional doctor and couldn't handle Adeline's current condition.

He had no better choice. Jasper sighed and lowered his voice. "Dr. Walker, I can consider your previous condition. But you have to take good care of her."

"If I come back in a few days and she's hurt again," Jasper turned, his gaze icy as he looked at Dr. Walker, "I won't hesitate to break your fingers one by one."

Jasper's cold eyes and serious tone made Dr. Walker's hair stand on end. He could feel that Jasper was serious.

Dr. Walker quickly nodded. "Understood! We will take good care of her and not let her hurt herself again."

Jasper closed his eyes and sighed. "Take me to see her."
