Chapter 68 Almost Doing Something Regrettable
Chapter 68 Almost Doing Something Regrettable
Audrey took Lauren back to their room, and Adeline went to the back garden to call Brandon.
As soon as the call connected, Brandon laughed on the other end. "I take it you saw Audrey?"
Adeline sighed helplessly. "I didn't expect you to personally escort them over."
"I had some business to attend to in America, so I brought them along. It wasn't just for the sake of escorting them."
"Just for the sake of it?"
Brandon stayed silent for a moment before laughing. "Not completely for the sake of it. I wanted to see Bennett and Lauren. And maybe a little bit of you."
Adeline's heart skipped a beat.
After being silent for a while, she sighed. "Are you attending Grandma Foster's birthday banquet tonight?"
"Yes." The man chuckled softly. "I want to see those people who bullied you back then."
Adeline closed her eyes. There were a thousand words in her heart.
And yet now, speaking to Brandon, she couldn't say anything.
After a moment, she forced a smile. "Let's talk about it when we meet tonight."
"Sure."
Just as Adeline was about to hang up the phone, Brandon sighed on the other end and calmly said something.
She closed her eyes, pretended not to hear, and ended the call.
As the woman turned around to go back to the villa, she stopped dead under someone's gaze.
Jasper was looking at her with a cold gaze.
"Boyfriend?" he asked.
She smiled; her lips curled up. "Yes."
In an instant, a storm brewed within the depths of his unfathomable eyes. "Since when do you have a boyfriend?"
She continued to smile. "I've always had one."
Before she finished speaking, his long arm reached out and pressed Adeline against the pillar.
His dangerous gaze locked onto her tightly. "You've always had a boyfriend, yet you came to my house as a maid and repeatedly tried to seduce me?"
Looking into his profound eyes, Adeline couldn't help but laugh. "Mr. Foster, I explained this to you from the very beginning. I became a maid to the Foster family because I liked Lauren, it has nothing to do with you. As for seducing you or having ulterior motives, those are all your own delusions."
Jasper tightened his grip on her hand. Adeline continued to smile, a wild and confident smile. "Mr. Foster, I admit that you possess both wealth and good looks, but not every woman will go crazy for you."
Adeline was that woman who once went crazy for him. But her ending was too tragic.
Jasper was completely provoked by her words. His deep, bottomless eyes, glared at her fiercely. "You say you never liked me, never seduced me?"
"Yes!" Adeline struggled; her neck stiff. "I really never liked you, never..."
Before she could finish her sentence, his lips aggressively crashed onto hers.
Jasper pressed her against the pillar, one hand holding her wrists above her head, while the other trapped her tightly between him and the pillar.
The sudden kiss was domineering and arrogant.
Adeline didn't expect him to kiss her so directly. Her mind couldn't keep up, and she even forgot to resist.
He had never kissed her with such intensity and dominance before.
In the past, she had always been obedient to him, not resisting, even pleasing him.
But the more she pleased him, the more impatient he became.
Six years ago, when she left, he was too lazy even to give her a kiss.
Even during their most intimate moments as husband and wife, he wouldn't kiss her.
And now... Adeline was left disoriented by his dominance and arrogance.
After a while, she finally realized that she should struggle.
But it was too late for her struggle.
While the man was angrily kissing her, his hands involuntarily gripped her waist and slowly went upwards.
In the end, he carried her directly into the villa.
"Put me down!"
"Jasper!"
Being carried on his shoulder, Adeline finally realized the severity of the situation.
She struggled desperately.
But for the man in his rage, her struggles only fueled his desire to conquer her.
He carried her into his bedroom.
This was the first time Adeline stepped into his bedroom since her departure all those years ago.
What surprised her was that everything in the bedroom was exactly the same as when she left.
Even the potted plant on the windowsill was the same variety she used to care for.
But after so many years, the potted plant she cared for must have died and withered.
Yet this potted plant was alive and thriving.
So, does Jasper have someone replace it every once in a while?
He must have had a lot of free time.
But now was not the time to think about this.
With a loud "bang," the bedroom door was shut.
A frightened Adeline was pressed against the door panel by the man.
Kisses rained down on her like drops of rain.
"Mr. Foster.""
"Jasper!"
"Snap out of it!"
"You..."
Her cries were swallowed by him.
It passed for a long time, yet it felt like an instant.
Adeline lay in Jasper's bedroom, staring blankly at the ceiling.
She had come so close to doing the most intimate thing with Jasper.
Just minutes ago, right when Jasper and she were about to take the final step, he received a call from Ryan, instructing him to prepare for the dinner at the venue.
As Grandma Foster's oldest and most powerful grandson, there were many matters that required Jasper's personal attention.
Ryan's call seemed to wake him up from his irrational behavior.
He disdainfully pushed Adeline away, put on his clothes in a cold manner, and left, looking sharp and refined.
As he was leaving, he glanced at her with indifference. "Didn't you say you didn't like me and had no desire to seduce me? It certainly felt like you were quite proactive right now."
Adeline lay on the bed, panting as she tried to steady her breathing.
She couldn't refute now, because she had initially refused him.
But then she realized that today might be her ovulation period.
So, despite her dislike for him, for Blake's sake and to conceive another child from him, she forced herself to endure.
Not only endure but also take the initiative.
Fortunately, their past married life had taught her all his triggers and habits.
She followed his lead, seduced him, and brought his desire to its peak.
If it weren't for Ryan's call, she might have succeeded today.
She hoped that in the future, she wouldn't have to deal with this stone-hearted person anymore.
Adeline closed her eyes and let out a bitter sigh as she smiled, she smiled bitterly too now.
What a pity.
...
Downstairs.
Jasper rinsed his face for the third time with cold water where Adeline had kissed him.
"Sir," Ryan said with a touch of concern, watching the man's self-harming act, "should I call a doctor?"
"No need," Jasper replied, looking at his disheveled reflection in the mirror.
For some reason, when he kissed Adeline, a strange sense of familiarity had rushed over him.
That feeling... was exactly like when he was with Adeline.
In the moment that he pressed her down on the bed, he had a strong feeling: she was Adeline!
If it weren't for Ryan's call, he might have really done something to betray Adeline.
Closing his eyes, the man asked hoarsely, "Do you think she looks like Adeline?"
