Chapter 802 Am I Impulsive?
"Is there an accident up ahead?"
Linda's voice from the passenger seat snapped Adeline out of her thoughts. Sitting in the back, she glanced at the photos Lauren had sent her and frowned.
"How could there be an accident here?"
Oliver had picked this little house in the countryside for her. The roads were wide, and there were hardly any cars around. How could there be an accident?
"I'm serious!"
Linda's eyes were glued to the two cars ahead, her brows knitting together.
"Adeline, doesn't that RV look like Daisy and your dad's?"
Adeline, who had been looking at her phone, froze for a moment.
Hadn't Howard and Daisy been gone for a while?
She instinctively looked up.
In the distance, she saw a man in a gray suit being pinned against a car's hood by another man in a black suit. A driver-like figure was pulling at the black-suited man's arm, shouting something.
But no one in the RV seemed to be getting out.
Adeline's heart skipped a beat.
She recognized that black sports car—it was Jasper's!
And the man in black? She knew him all too well!
Adeline's sense of urgency spiked. "Drive up and stop the car!"
The driver floored it, and Adeline and Linda's car pulled up beside the black sports car.
Adeline tossed her phone aside, flung open the car door, and rushed out.
The scene before her was even more suffocating than what she had seen from the car.
Jasper had Howard pinned against the hood, his grip tight around his neck.
Howard's face was turning a deep shade of red, even starting to turn purple.
Adeline rushed over and grabbed Jasper's arm.
"Are you out of your mind?"
"Jasper, let go! Let go!"
"If you keep choking him, my dad's going to die!"
"Jasper!"
Seeing Jasper's bloodshot eyes, Adeline took a deep breath and bit down hard on his arm.
"Jasper, you've already hurt my mom. If you don't want me to never speak to you again, let go!"
The sharp pain in his arm and Adeline's screams brought Jasper back to his senses.
He released his grip, the murderous rage in his eyes slowly fading.
Adeline quickly supported Howard. "Are you okay?"
No matter how angry she was at Howard for favoring Daisy, she couldn't ignore the innate concern and worry that came with their blood relation.
He was still her father, after all.
Howard slid off the hood, collapsing weakly to the ground, coughing violently.
If Adeline had been a moment later, he feared he might have lost his life right there.
Jasper was ruthless!
From the RV, Daisy watched the scene unfold, stomping her foot in frustration.
"Why is she everywhere?"
If it weren't for Adeline, there would have been a major news story in Oceancrest City today!
But now...
Daisy threw her phone behind her, took Patty from Anna's arms, and rushed to Howard's side.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at Howard.
"Dad, are you okay?"
"You scared me to death!"
As she cried, Patty, in her arms, started crying too.
For a moment, the street was filled with the sounds of women and children crying.
Howard's head throbbed from the noise. "Daisy, I'm fine."
He said this to get Daisy and the child to stop crying, as his heart couldn't take it.
But to Adeline and Linda, it sounded different.
Adeline's hand, which had been helping Howard catch his breath, paused.
Linda couldn't hold back her anger. "Mr. Phoebe, get it straight. It was Adeline who saved you from Jasper!"
Adeline saved him, and his first words were to tell Daisy he was fine?
What kind of father was this?
"Linda, let it go."
Adeline sighed, turning to Daisy. "Don't you have plenty of servants in your car?"
"Have them help Dad into the car and take him to the hospital."
Daisy pursed her lips and waved to the RV.
The servants got out and helped Howard up.
Adeline stood up too, stepping aside to give them space.
Howard looked at Adeline, opened his mouth, and finally managed to say:
"Thank you."
This thank you was directed at Adeline.
But Daisy smiled, gently patting Howard's back.
"Dad, what are you saying? Taking care of you is my duty."
Howard hesitated, wanting to say more, but the servants had already helped him into the car.
The RV started up, and Daisy left with Howard.
Adeline stood there, watching the RV drive away, her eyes darkening.
"That's too much!"
Linda gritted her teeth in anger. "I've seen favoritism, but this is ridiculous!"
Howard had been choked by Jasper, and Daisy had seen it all. She stayed in the RV and didn't come out!
Adeline saved him, and his first words were to reassure Daisy, and his second words were to thank Daisy!
Adeline's kindness was completely ignored!
"Forget it."
Adeline sighed, holding Linda's hand. "I never expected him to like me."
She returned to the Phoebe family for her mother, Zara.
She stayed in the Phoebe family with her mother, Zara.
Howard had lost the right to be her father the day he sent her to the orphanage.
She never expected Howard to do anything for her.
"I thought after you returned to the Phoebe family, they'd treat you better."
Suddenly, Jasper's deep voice came from behind.
Adeline's blood froze for a moment.
She smirked, turning to look at Jasper.
"Did you enjoy the show?"
"But."Adeline took a deep breath, her eyes fixed on Jasper.
"No matter how the Phoebe family treats me, it doesn't justify Mr. Foster killing my mom and then choking my dad."
"Remember, this is Oceancrest City. You can't get away with murder in broad daylight."
"Last time, there wasn't enough evidence. This time, there were witnesses."
"Next time, don't be so impulsive."
With that, she took a deep breath and walked back to the car.
She and Linda had planned to visit the church in East Oceancrest City to clear their minds and pray for Zara.
But they hadn't expected to encounter this.
"Was I impulsive?"
Jasper's eyes narrowed as he watched Adeline's retreating figure, his voice cold and low.
"Howard said that because I've done so many bad things, my child deserved to die."
"And I shouldn't be impulsive, right?"
