Chapter 391 Bullying Ms. Jones
Jasper clutched his phone, l his brows furrowing deeply as he replied, "Wait."
Then Jasper hung up the phone icily, frustration evident on his face.
"Jasper," Luna called out to him as she lay obediently on the bed, her eyes filled with worry as she looked at Jasper. "If it's too difficult, just put all the blame on Hazel and me. Please don't have a conflict with Miss Wilson, okay?"
Her considerate demeanor made Jasper sigh heavily. He nodded and left the room.
Leaning against the headboard, Luna watched Jasper's departing figure with a cold smile, her eyes filled with smugness.
She had thought Adeline was so strong, but now she saw her as just another impulsive woman. How could Adeline possibly compete with her? Jasper would be hers sooner or later!
Outside. Adeline sat elegantly on the bench in the hallway.Beside her, Lucia was constantly checking the online price of the dress Hazel was wearing.Timothy had gone to deliver food to Anne, while Robert sat indifferently in a chair, reading today’s social news from Radiance Springs
Hazel sat opposite Adeline, occasionally glaring at her before looking down at her soup-stained dress, sighing repeatedly.
Before long, the door to the ward opened. and Jasper walked out with a sullen expression.
"Mr. Foster!" Hazel exclaimed, hurrying over to him, her voice laced with grievance. "Please, you have to judge this fairly!"
Hazel continued, "One of your employees, a tall young man, bumped into me in the restaurant and dirtied my dress!"
She tugged at her stained dress as she spoke, "Look at this big oil stain!
"I demanded compensation from him, but he said that he would only compensate me if I took the garment off in his presence and handed it to him in front of everyone.
"Isn't that harassment? Mr. Foster, you have to stand up for me!"
Jasper frowned, glanced at the oil stain on Hazel's dress, and then looked at Adeline. "Timothy did this? Where is he?" he asked.
Adeline shrugged as she explained, "Anne was hungry, so Timothy went to deliver food to her."
Jasper scoffed coldly, "He committed the wrongdoing himself, yet he doesn't come forward and sends you in his stead? Shameful!"
"That's not shameful." Adeline interrupted coldly, "I didn't let Timothy come.
"I was afraid his bad temper would upset Ms. Jones again, and Mr. Foster would get angry and fire the three of them."
Jasper's eyes narrowed coldly, and he chose not to continue the topic with Adeline. Instead, he turned to Hazel, asking, "Is that all?"
Hazel paused and explained further, "Yes. Like Ms. Jones, I'm not from Radiance Springs. I'm unfamiliar with the place, and I'm alone while they are four. I felt I would be at a disadvantage when I confront them, so I contacted Ms. Jones."
After speaking, she glanced towards the ward and inquired, "Where is Ms. Jones?"
"She's resting." Jasper interrupted Hazel, turning to Adeline. "Were you there when it happened?"
Adeline nodded in affirmation. "I was."
Jasper snorted coldly, his gaze turning icy as he looked at Adeline. "You were there and allowed him to be so arrogant? Timothy should compensate Hazel for bumping into her.
"Hazel is almost sixty years old and she is Timothy's elder. But he actually asked her to take off her dress in front of him, do you think that's appropriate?"
Adeline laughed. Then she retorted, "Mr. Foster, Hazel's dress was only splashed with soup. Shouldn't Timothy just compensate for the dry cleaning fee?
"But Hazel not only refused to let us compensate for the dry cleaning fee, but also insisted we compensate her for the dress at its full price.
"We refused, then she said we were all poor, far beneath Ms. Jones.
"Do you think her words were appropriate?"
Jasper's gaze shifted to Hazel as he asked, "Hazel, is that true?"
Hazel's face turned ugly.
She had assumed they were just poor nobodies who would be intimidated into paying up upon meeting Jasper. But she didn't expect them to be Jasper's employees, nor did she anticipate that Jasper wouldn't unconditionally support her because she was Luna's servant.
Hazel bit her lip in frustration. She remarked, "Mr. Foster, I think this dress is precious.
"After they dirtied it, even if it's dry cleaned, it won't be the same as before!
"I just wore this $50,000 dress for one day and now it needs dry cleaning. I'm not content with that!"
"So Timothy is willing to pay $50,000, but he asks you to take off the dress immediately and give it to him. Is that wrong?" Adeline's voice was calm. "A new dress, once dry cleaned, is no longer the same. So, once you wear it, it shouldn't be worth the original price, right?"
Adeline continued, "Timothy is willing to pay the price of a new dress but asks you to take it off immediately to prevent it from devaluing. Is that unreasonable?"
Adeline's words made Hazel's face turn pale instantly.
Jasper frowned deeply. He wasn't familiar with Hazel. After all, he didn’t know much about Luna either, and Hazel was just an employee who had been taking care of her.
He always thought Luna was gentle and kind, so her employees wouldn't be too bad. But now it seemed otherwise.
Turning back to Hazel, Jasper said, "Hazel, if you want Timothy to compensate for the dress at its original price, his request is reasonable."
Jasper rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. He added, "If you think the dress is different after being splashed with soup and dry cleaned, I can have Ryan buy you a new one. Let's just drop this, I'm a bit tired."
Hazel bit her lip, glancing at Adeline, then gritting her teeth. "But Mr. Foster, this has nothing to do with you. Why should you buy me a new dress?"
She pointed directly at Adeline. "If anyone should buy me a new dress, it should be her!"
After speaking, Hazel looked at Adeline disdainfully. "But I guess you can't afford it. I'm not insisting you buy me a new dress. How about you bow and apologize to me in front of Mr. Foster, admitting you were wrong!"
Adeline chuckled, crossing her arms as she regarded Hazel."Although I'm currently in financial difficulty, a $500 dress is still affordable. But I just don't want to buy it for you."
"You're lying!" Hazel shouted, pointing at Adeline. "This dress I'm wearing is worth $50,000! Ms. Jones gave it to me! But you say it's only worth $500!"
She was trembling with anger as she spoke to Adeline, "You slander me and bully me, fine! But you even slander Ms. Jones!"
"This dress is indeed only worth $500." Adeline interrupted Hazel calmly. "Either you're lying, or Luna is lying."
Hazel fumed with rage."What lie am I telling?! Ms. Jones wouldn't lie either! Alright, no wonder you've been pestering me, you were waiting for this! Are you trying to use this opportunity to slander and bully Ms. Jones. "
