Chapter 496 This is... Sebastian
Adeline shot a quick message to Violet.
Even though Violet was just a plastic surgeon, she had some solid connections in the Radiance Springs medical scene.
In no time, Violet had Adeline add one of her old mentors.
Once the mentor heard Adeline was looking for a kid named Liam, he quickly sent over Liam's room number. Turns out, Liam was on the same floor where Adeline and Vikram were hiding!
Adeline and Vikram were thrilled and snuck out of the storage room to find Liam's room.
But when they got there, they found an unfamiliar boy sitting on Liam's bed.
"Are you Liam?" Vikram asked, barely believing his eyes.
Liam pouted. "Yeah, who are you guys? What do you want?"
Adeline frowned and quickly pulled Vikram out of the room.
"I swear I didn't get it wrong," Vikram said, still looking confused in the hallway. "I saw it clearly; the wristband said Liam."
Adeline didn't have time to worry about whether he remembered right.
She took a deep breath and glanced out the window.
Just then, she saw Jasper carrying Blake, who was in a hospital gown, into a car.
She pursed her lips and was about to text Violet's mentor for help when her phone rang.
It was Blake calling.
Adeline was stunned but quickly answered, her heart racing. "Blake!"
But the little guy on the other end didn't respond right away.
After a long pause, she heard Blake's voice. "Jasper, why did I fall asleep?"
Then Jasper's deep voice came through. "Maybe you were too tired after the blood transfusion."
Jasper's voice had a mix of tenderness and helplessness. "I still prefer you calling me Daddy."
After a moment of silence, Blake chuckled softly. "Let's stick with Jasper; calling you Daddy feels weird."
Blake took a deep breath. "Jasper, you said I accused my mommy of domestic violence. Are you sure you didn't get it wrong? I passed out after the blood transfusion; when I woke up, I was already in your arms. When did I accuse my mommy?"
Jasper sighed and gently stroked Blake's hair. "So, you regret exposing Adeline, huh?"
Jasper looked at Blake, a hint of pain in his eyes. "I know, you and your siblings have been with Adeline since you were little. You wouldn't want to send Adeline to a mental hospital. But Blake, you're a smart kid. If your mommy has mental issues, we should treat them early. Otherwise, things could get really bad. I promise you, once your mommy's better, you'll all go back to her, okay?"
On the other end, Adeline listened to Jasper's words, a cold smile forming on her lips.
Jasper's words sounded sweet.
He said he'd send the kids back to her once she got better?
He hadn't even looked at the doctor's report. Based on a few words from the fake Blake and Luna's manipulation, he actually concluded she had mental issues and decided to take her kids away.
Adeline believed that Jasper would always use her supposed mental instability as an excuse to keep the kids from her!
Mental illness was such a tricky thing to pin down. Just now, Luna had clearly provoked her, leading to her extreme actions. But Luna and Jasper twisted it into her having an episode.
Adeline held the phone, wanting to keep listening, but the call abruptly ended.
Listening to the busy tone, Adeline closed her eyes and sighed deeply.
Putting away her phone, she noticed Vikram was still hung up on the Liam issue. "If that kid isn't Liam, then who is he? Blake hasn't been taken by bad people, has he?"
Adeline shot him a cold glance. "Blake is perfectly safe right now."
It was clear the other side had used a fake Blake to fool Jasper and then sent the real Blake back.
It made sense. Jasper had just decided to take Blake and Lauren to live with him. Although Blake hadn't had much contact with Jasper and wasn't very familiar with him, Blake and Lauren were inseparable. If the real Blake wasn't sent back, Lauren would eventually notice something was off.
Thinking of this, Adeline let out a long breath, finally feeling relieved.
Blake was safe and hadn't fallen into Molly's hands, which was the best news.
Her kids would go to Emerald Crest Estate. Although Luna would definitely target them, Blake and Lauren weren't pushovers either.
However, to prevent Jasper from always favoring Luna and mistreating the kids, Adeline picked up the phone and called Lily.
Lily had always missed the kids and wanted to find a chance to spend time with Blake.
When Lily heard that Adeline planned to take the kids away, she was so upset she almost ended up in the hospital.
Now, hearing that the two kids were staying at Jasper's Emerald Crest Estate, she packed her bags and headed there.
After hanging up Lily's call, Adeline let out a long breath and sat by the window, looking at the gloomy sky outside.
Adeline's mind was in turmoil.
These past few days, she had been trying to get Mia to help find Molly and the child.
But she hadn't expected the other side to act first, having that child impersonate Blake, accuse her of domestic violence, and claim she was mentally unstable! Molly's move had really caught her off guard.
Adeline didn't even know how to respond. Should she go to a psychiatrist to get a certificate proving she wasn't ill or provide evidence that she had never hit her children?
She had just heard on the phone. Even when Blake spoke up for her, Jasper thought the child was too kind-hearted to abandon his supposedly abusive, crazy mother.
Proving herself this way clearly wouldn't work. The best approach now was to expose Molly and the child impersonating Blake. But how easy would it be to find them?
Adeline and Vikram had found Violet's senior and used connections to review all the hospital's surveillance footage, but they hadn't seen any sign of the child or Molly.
While reviewing the footage of cleaners coming and going through the back door, a tall man in a cleaner's uniform caught Adeline's attention.
Adeline said with a hoarse voice, "Can you zoom in on this person's face?"
The surveillance staff nodded and zoomed in.
A man's chiseled face appeared in the center of the screen.
Adeline's eyes widened instantly. It was Sebastian!
