Chapter 57 It's Time to Settle the Score with Molly!
"Great Grandmother!" Lauren bit her lip and held Adeline's finger with her small hand. "I've already said it. I only want Auntie to take care of me! If you keep saying that, Lauren won't like you anymore!"
Only then did Grandma Foster soften her indifferent expression and force a smile toward Lauren. "Lauren, Great Grandma has already said that you can't rely on a servant like this."
After saying that, she coldly glanced at the butler behind her. "Take Lauren out to play. I have something to discuss with this young lady."
Lauren bit her lip. She knew that Grandma Foster and Adeline were definitely not having a pleasant conversation.
The little girl reached out her frail arm and hugged Adeline. "No! I want to be with Auntie! Whoever separates me from Auntie, I will hate them forever!"
The reckless words of the little girl made Grandma Foster's face grow increasingly unsightly.
She thought she would never get to experience having four generations under one roof in her lifetime.
Now, out of nowhere, a little granddaughter appeared, and Grandma Foster was willing to give her everything.
However, even if she spoiled and doted on Lauren, she still had her own bottom line and principles.
Someone like Adeline, who made Lauren depend on her more than her own family, absolutely could not stay!
Moreover, not only did she win Lauren's heart, but she even caught Jasper's attention!
Several days ago, during that fire, Jasper clearly saw that Lauren was unharmed, yet he still rushed into the burning building without any regard for his own safety to save Adeline.
He even got into conflicts with the people outside the fire scene!
This was the second time Grandma Foster had seen Jasper disregard everything for a woman.
The only woman who drove Jasper to such extremes before was Adeline.
After Adeline's death, Jasper secluded himself at home. He drank alcohol every day and nearly tormented himself to death!
Thinking about all of that, Grandma Foster's eyes grew even colder.
Even if she loved Lauren dearly, a woman like Adeline absolutely could not stay!
She cast a cold glance at the butler behind her. "Why haven't you taken Lauren out yet?"
Watching the little girl grip onto Adeline tightly, the butler felt a bit helpless.
Adeline sighed and gently patted Lauren's back. "Lauren, listen to great-grandma's words and go outside."
Lauren held onto Adeline's hand. "No, no, no! Great-Grandma wants to chase you away! Lauren doesn't want you to leave!"
In the past, Lauren thought her mommy was invincible, but it wasn't until these past two days, when Adeline remained unconscious, that she finally became afraid.
She was scared of losing Adeline, scared of Adeline not being by her side.
However, Grandma Foster had made up her mind to separate Adeline from them.
The little girl cried so hard that she could barely catch her breath. "I don't want Auntie to leave!"
Seeing her tears, Grandma Foster's eyes briefly reflected a hint of reluctance.
But when she looked at Adeline, she still decided to be firm.
"Take her away!"
After several reminders, the butler finally approached and lifted Lauren into his arms.
"It'll be alright."
Adeline's heart ached when she saw Lauren crying.
She comforted her softly.
"Please don't go!" Lauren said.
Amidst her crying, the door to the ward closed.
"I never expected that you could make my great-granddaughter like you so much."
After Lauren's crying finally faded in the corridor, Grandma Foster snorted coldly. She leaned on her cane and sat to the side. "But the more you act like this, the more I'll keep you. Today, you managed to convince my great-granddaughter, and tomorrow you might turn her against us."
Grandma Foster's voice was filled with disgust. "I wonder what trouble you'll stir up once you establish yourself in the Foster family."
Adeline smiled faintly. "You're overthinking. I merely have affection for her."
"Affection?" Grandma Foster snorted. "I see. You're fond of her father, aren't you? What a schemer you are! You took advantage of the little girl's fondness and reliance on you. You were living shamelessly in Blue Bay. You pleased Lauren on one hand and seduced Jasper on the other. You have a beautiful face, but your heart is truly ugly!"
Adeline had long anticipated that she would say something like this, so she chuckled softly. "Grandma Foster, your deductions are quite logical, but unfortunately, they're all wrong."
After speaking, she glanced at the necklace around Grandma Foster's neck.
"Did Miss Collins give it to you again?"
This necklace was from the same series as the previous one.
Of course, it was also fake.
Grandma Foster glared at her coldly. "It was Molly's gift. Molly is gentle, virtuous, and has good taste. She's leagues ahead of you! What's more, Molly is Lauren's own aunt—a connection you can never compare to! If I had to choose between you and Molly, I would, of course, help Molly become a member of the Foster family.
"As for you, you should be more sensible. You came to work in Blue Bay and deliberately got close to Lauren and Jasper. All for the sake of money, right?

Leaning against the hospital bed, Adeline lightly laughed as she looked at the necklace on Grandma Foster's neck. "Indeed, one shouldn't be too greedy. So, this million-dollar necklace isn't about quantity, is it?"
Grandma Foster frowned. She was unable to tolerate Adeline's mocking tone. She put the necklace back inside her clothes and said, "Don't try to change the subject! How much money would it take for you to leave?"
Adeline sighed and closed her eyes.
After a moment, she said, "I can leave. I don't want your money either. But I have one condition."
"What?" Grandma Foster asked.
"I want to wait until after your birthday banquet before I go," she replied.
She knew she couldn't stay by Jasper's side as a servant for too long.
It didn't align with her previous plans, and living under Jasper's watchful eyes every day, she feared that she would eventually slip up due to some small details.
Jasper had already started to doubt her.
But even if she were to leave, she wanted to wait until after the banquet when Jasper would publicly announce Lauren's identity. Only then would she be at peace.
If Lauren's status as his daughter was made public, Molly wouldn't be able to make a move easily.
After all, if something happened to Lauren, Molly would be the first suspect.
She wouldn't be foolish enough to let everyone know how cruel she was.
"Fine." Grandma Foster sneered. "Deal."
Then, as if remembering something, she added, "At my banquet, Molly will present me with the most valuable piece by designer Y. It's a good thing you'll be staying. You'll see what priceless means. I hope you'll have the guts to say it's fake."
Adeline smiled. "Sure."
She actually wanted to see how far Molly would go with her deception.
And also, it was time to settle the score for what happened before!
