Chapter 606 No Wonder Mother Doesn't Like Him

Hypocrisy, deceit.

Those two words made Adeline take a step back without even thinking.

She bit her lip and stared at the kid in front of her.

He was her Bennett.

Since he was little, he had always taken care of her, Blake, and Lauren.

She loved her son, and now he was calling her deceitful and hypocritical.

She knew this wasn't really Bennett talking; he just lost his memory.

But it still hurt like hell.

Adeline fought back tears and forced a smile. "Liam, I'm just worried about you. If you don't like it, fine, but why say something so mean?"

The pain in Adeline's eyes made Bennett's heart skip a beat.

A weird feeling, almost like heartache, bubbled up, making him a bit irritable.

Bennett took a deep breath, "Adeline, I've told you. My mom and I came back for revenge. If you think you can make me betray my mom with this fake concern, you're dreaming. Don't waste your time. I'm not staying here forever. Once Jasper finishes the paternity test, I will be out. I can't stand being with the Foster family any longer."

Adeline's hands clenched into fists at her sides. She bit her lip, "Why do you think there's some hidden agenda behind my concern for you? I see a kid feeling envious and jealous because others are happy, yet unwilling to fit in, so I comfort him. Is that so wrong?"

Adeline's words made Bennett's brow furrow deeply. He looked at Adeline coldly. "Who's envious and jealous and unwilling to fit in? Not me"

Adeline smirked, "If I didn't hit the nail on the head, why are you blushing and getting all worked up?"

Bennett's face turned even redder. He bit his lip and turned his face away, not wanting Adeline to see. "Get out. If you don't leave, I'll find a way to bully your two kids!"

Looking at Bennett's stubborn back, Adeline sighed.

Even with amnesia, he was still her son.

No one knew him better than she did.

She crossed her arms and sat down beside him, "You won't."

She knew her son; even with amnesia, his kind nature wouldn't change.

"How do you know I won't?"

Adeline looked at his face. "It was pouring last night, and Jasper and I weren't home. You were alone with them. If you wanted to hurt them, you had the perfect chance last night. Why didn't you do anything?"

Those words left Bennett speechless.

He glared at Adeline, "I don't need to explain to you!"

After saying that, Bennett lay back on the bed, facing the wall, and stopped talking.

Seeing that he was ignoring her, Adeline sighed, took the thin blanket by the bed, carefully covered him, and then turned to leave.

As she closed the door, Adeline sighed. "I know you think we're all bad people right now, but think about it. Blake and Lauren are the same age as you. They haven't done anything to wrong you and couldn't do anything to harm you or your mom. Becoming friends with them will only bring you happiness and won't cost you anything."

With that, she closed the door and left.

Listening to the sound of the door clicking shut, Bennett stared at the wall and let out a deep sigh.

According to Molly's instructions, he should have acted last night.

Jasper's face inexplicably popped into his mind.

On Adeline's birthday night, when he went to find Jasper, Jasper didn't seem surprised at all.

It was like he knew Bennett would show up.

Bennett didn't waste any time and pointed a knife at Jasper's stomach.

But he couldn't go through with it.

Bennett knew that if he followed his mom's orders, Sebastian wouldn't suffer as much. He also knew that Jasper was a jerk who had wronged him and his mom and deserved to die.

But the moment he picked up the knife, his whole body resisted. In the end, he couldn't stab him.

Seeing his hesitation, Jasper laughed, "What, can't do it?"

He smirked, "But if I don't get hurt, you'll be punished, right?"

Jasper's calm demeanor made Bennett, who was holding the knife, start to tremble uncontrollably.

Jasper chuckled softly, "I don't know what your plans are, but remember, you owe me this time."

After saying that, Jasper took Bennett's hand and silently stabbed himself.

Bennett's eyes widened, watching Jasper remove his hand from the knife.

He heard Jasper's weak voice, "Remember, you owe me. Hurting me this time means you can't hurt my family again."

At that moment, Bennett was too shocked to speak.

After a long time, he turned and left in a panic.

Thinking about that night, Bennett closed his eyes silently.

He thought Jasper would call the cops, and seek revenge. But he never did.

Even though he almost died and almost didn't wake up, he didn't pursue it.

Once he was awake, it was like his injury had never happened.

Last night, Bennett was angry because Jasper publicly denied his identity, so he didn't want to honor their agreement and went straight to Lauren with a knife.

There was always a voice in his heart holding him back, so in the end, he didn't do it.

Bennett closed his eyes and sighed. He still wasn't ruthless enough. He wasn't fit to be Molly's son.

No wonder Molly didn't like him.

After leaving the kids' room, Adeline went back to her room to take a shower.

Last night, she drank with Violet and Mia, then got caught in the rain, and she smelled terrible.

Just as she came out of the bathroom after her shower, her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.

Adeline frowned, hesitated for a moment, and finally answered the call, "Who is this?"

"Fiancée, don't you recognize my voice? It's your fiancé!"

On the other end of the line came Rex's disgusting and sleazy voice. "I wanted to call you this morning, but it was raining too hard, so I waited until the rain stopped."

Adeline frowned, resisting the urge to hang up. "What do you want?"

"Of course, I have something to discuss." Rex's voice on the other end carried a hint of coldness, "I want to discuss our wedding date with you."
