Chapter 780 She Won't Ignore the Three of Us!

As Adeline's car pulled up to Swan Villa, another car was just arriving at the entrance.

The door swung open.

Out stepped Jasper, dressed head-to-toe in black.

It had only been a day since Adeline last saw him, but he looked like he had aged years.

His stubble was dark, and he appeared even thinner.

He ran towards the villa, shouting, "Lauren!"

Moments later, Lauren's tearful voice echoed from inside the villa, "Daddy! You're finally back! Look at Blake!"

At the same time, another car pulled up at the villa's entrance.

Dennis hurriedly grabbed his medical bag and rushed inside.

Behind Dennis, a small chubby hand pushed open the car door.

A six or seven-year-old girl in a uniform stepped out.

She intended to follow Dennis inside but, for some reason, her big eyes turned towards Adeline's car.

Nova, with her curious eyes wide open, instinctively walked towards Adeline's car.

She had only taken a few steps when Dennis's voice called out from the villa, "Nova, come in and help!"

Nova stopped in her tracks and quickly turned to run into the villa.

Adeline sat in the back seat of her car, watching everything unfold at the villa's entrance, listening to the sounds from inside. Her heart felt like it was being drenched in a downpour.

The driver in the front seat was silent for a moment. "Ms. Phoebe, aren't you going to go in and check?"

Adeline closed her eyes and shook her head. "No."

Just yesterday, she had sworn to Howard that she wouldn't see Jasper until the baby was born.

Even though she didn't believe in such things...

And besides, she needed to keep her distance from the children now.

If Blake was in trouble today and Lauren called her, she would show up.

Then if Bennett or Lauren were in trouble in the future, she would have to come see them too.

Over time, not only would she inevitably see Jasper, but the children would also become as dependent on her as before.

Thinking of this, Adeline sighed deeply.

"Find a discreet place to park the car."

The driver was silent for a moment, then spoke in a low voice, "Ms. Phoebe, are you sure you don't want to go in and check?"

"I can hear your daughter crying pretty hard in there."

Adeline closed her eyes and tilted her head, indeed hearing Lauren's cries.

Her heart twisted painfully.

She wanted nothing more than to rush in, hold Lauren, and check on Blake!

But... seeing Adeline's troubled expression, the driver sighed and suggested. "I have a friend who works as a maid in Swan Villa. How about I ask her to get you a maid's uniform... so you can go in and check? It's already late at night, the lighting isn't great, they probably won't recognize you."

Adeline bit her lip, hesitating for a long time, but eventually gave in to the temptation.

Ten minutes later, she was dressed in a maid's uniform, head down, following a maid into the villa.

In the center of the courtyard, Blake lay on a bed, eyes closed, face pale.

Machines were running beside him.

A red liquid flowed through the IV in his hand.

Lauren was crying uncontrollably, clutching her arm, while Bennett stood silently beside her.

It was clear that Lauren had been crying because of the blood draw.

Lauren had always been like this, terrified of needles.

But for Blake, she would help despite her fear.

A haggard Jasper held Blake's hand, watching the numbers on the machines.

"What happened? Why did he collapse and start vomiting blood?"

Dennis, adjusting medication nearby, sighed.

"His health was never good. Even after the bone marrow transplant, he needs regular care."

"Clearly, both you and Adeline have been too busy to help him with his check-ups and care."

"And from his condition, it's obvious he's been worrying too much... probably about you and Adeline."

Dennis glanced at Blake's pale face.

"Of your three kids, he's the most mature, always calm and steady, comforting his siblings."

"I thought he didn't care as much about you and Adeline as the other two."

"But it turns out, at such a young age, he's been worrying himself sick over you two."

Dennis's words made Jasper sigh deeply. "Blake is like me."

"He keeps everything bottled up inside."

He tightened his grip on Blake's hand, speaking softly.

"You kids shouldn't have to worry about adult problems... even I can't handle them, let alone you."

Standing at a distance, Adeline helped the maid Willow Reed with the medication, trying to hold back her tears.

She had been so caught up in the Phoebe family and Jasper's issues that she had neglected her three precious children.

They wanted nothing more than for her and Jasper to be together.

But she had chosen the Phoebe family.

She wasn't a good mother. She had let her children down, especially Blake.

If it weren't for her, Blake wouldn't have collapsed... As she wallowed in guilt, a hand took the medication from her.

"I'll handle this."

The familiar voice snapped Adeline back to reality.

It was Jasper, who had just been holding Blake's hand and speaking in self-reproach.

Now, he was crouched beside her, taking the medication from her hands and starting to work on it.

Adeline froze, afraid he would recognize her, and quickly grabbed more medication, keeping her head down.

"You're nervous?"

Noticing the maid's anxiety, Jasper frowned and asked quietly.

Adeline realized her hands were shaking as she held the medication.

Willow, worried they might be found out, laughed awkwardly to cover, "She's new here. She's never seen someone as handsome, rich, and imposing as Mr. Foster."

"So having you crouch beside her to help with the medication makes her nervous."

Jasper chuckled softly without looking up. "Handsome and rich? Imposing?"

"What good is that?"

He stood up, a self-deprecating smile on his lips.

"I can't even keep the most important person in my life."

His low voice made Adeline's heart clench.

The most important person... Was she really the most important person to Jasper?

If she was, why did he harm her mother?

Didn't he realize that when he stabbed Zara in the chest... there was no going back for them?

He said she was the most important person.

But did he ever see her as a real, flesh-and-blood person?

"Daddy," Lauren's tearful voice broke the silence, "Can you check if Mommy is here?"

Lauren added, "I called Mommy, and she said she would come."

Jasper frowned, picking Lauren up. "Sweetie, she won't come."

Lauren sniffled. "You're lying!"

"Mommy promised Lauren she would come, so she will!"

"She won't abandon the three of us!"
