Chapter 369 Playing with Fire?
Mia spent the night with Adeline at Blue Bay. Early the next morning, Thomas arrived to take her to try on wedding dresses.
He arrived too early; Mia was still asleep.
She had cried all night and only fell asleep at dawn with Adeline's comfort.
When Adeline came downstairs with Lauren and Blake, they saw Thomas sitting in the living room.
Hearing footsteps upstairs, he turned his head.
The moment he saw Blake, his eyes widened in shock. "Isn't Bennett dead?"
"Yeah, I'm a ghost." Blake said.
He glanced at him coldly. "I'm here to seek revenge."
Blake's voice was eerie and cold, genuinely scaring Thomas into silence.
After a while, Thomas frowned and looked at Blake with a smile. "It wasn't me who killed Bennett."
After saying this, he sized Blake up and exclaimed, "Identical twins are really amazing; you look exactly alike. I almost mistook you."
Blake said nothing.
Adeline didn't want to talk to Thomas much, just glancing at him lightly. "Mia slept very late last night. You should come in the afternoon. I think she'll sleep all morning."
"No problem, I'll wait here." Thomas said.
He leaned back on the sofa, looking arrogantly at Adeline and the two children beside her.
He said, "I know you hate me and don't want to see me."
"But since you can let Mia stay at your place, you should've expected me to come."
After saying this, he looked around at the villa's decorations with a cold smile. "Mr. Foster is indeed a wealthy man."
"Such a big and luxurious villa; he just moved out and let you live here."
"To put it nicely, he let you stay here to take good care of the two children and recover."
He sneered, "To put it bluntly, he just doesn't want to see the three of you, so he avoids you by going to Emerald Crest Estate!"
"You're lying!" His words finally angered the silent Lauren.
Lauren shook off Adeline's hand, ran down the stairs, and directly bit his hand!
She used all her strength. The moment she bit down, Thomas's eyes widened in pain as he shook his arm desperately.
But Lauren bit tightly, and he couldn't break free!
"If you keep biting me, I won't be polite!" He frowned, his eyes fierce, and he directly grabbed Lauren's neck.
Everything happened too quickly for Adeline to react.
By the time she realized it, Thomas was already choking Lauren, who still bit his hand tightly despite her red face.
Adeline rushed up madly, but before she could push Thomas away, Jasper reached out and grabbed Thomas's arm that was choking Lauren.
Thomas, in pain, let go of Lauren.
"Lauren." Jasper's deep voice sounded. "Lauren, let go."
Lauren looked up and saw it was Jasper, finally relaxing a bit and letting go of Thomas.
She bit her lip, looking at Jasper with grievance. "He said you don't want to see us."
"He's lying to you." Jasper looked at the red marks on her neck from Thomas's grip, his eyes a bit ruthless.
The next second, he directly knocked Thomas down.
Jasper, clad in leather shoes, pressed his foot down on Thomas's spine and remarked, "A man of your age, quarrelling with a mere six-year-old?"
Adeline rushed over, holding Lauren and comforting her while squinting at Thomas and Jasper.
Jasper stepped on Thomas, his eyes cold as ice.
Thomas struggled desperately on the ground, his eyes full of unwillingness and hatred.
Adeline's brows furrowed.
If yesterday's Thomas and Jasper were acting, what about today?
Instant reactions couldn't be faked.
Adeline held Lauren, feeling a bit dazed.
Did they really have no connection?
Thomas, the kind of person who climbed to his current position from the bottom using tricks, could scarcely tolerate being trampled upon by others.
Jasper should know this very well, but he still did it.
If they were really in cahoots, wouldn't he be afraid that doing this would anger Thomas and provoke betrayal?
"Mr. Foster." Suddenly, Mia's voice came from the stairs behind.
Wearing Adeline's pajamas, she frowned as she walked down. "Let him go."
She walked down and finally stood in front of Jasper. "Consider it a favor for my late father."
"I remember he was on good terms with the Foster family before he passed away."
Jasper sneered. "It's hard to believe you still remember Mr. White Senior."
"If he saw his daughter being so unreasonable, he might regret leaving the family fortune to you, right?"
Having spoken, he withdrew his foot coldly and looked down at the staggering Thomas attempting to stand up. "Today, out of respect for Mia, I'm giving you only a warning."
"If I see you hurting my children again, I won't let you off!"
Seeing Thomas stand up, Mia hesitated for a moment before going and gently supporting him. Her voice was soft, "Thomas, are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Thomas replied.
He grimaced in pain but still gently held Mia's hand. "Go change your clothes, and I'll take you to try on wedding dresses."
heS smiled and nodded. "I'll go change now."
After saying this, she glanced at Adeline, then at Jasper. "Mr. Foster, don't be angry. I'll take him away soon."
After saying this, she took a deep breath and went upstairs.
Soon, she changed her clothes and left with Thomas.
After they left, Alice came out of the kitchen wearing an apron, smiling and calling Blake and Lauren. "Blake, Lauren, come have breakfast!"
Lauren pursed her lips before getting up. She walked to Blake's side and silently took his hand, heading to the dining room.
Only Adeline and Jasper were left in the living room.
Watching Lauren and Blake sit down to eat, Adeline frowned and glanced coldly at Jasper. "Mr. Foster, why are you here?"
"Didn't you say that after leaving me here to take care of Blake and Lauren, you wouldn't come back easily?"
"Why are you here uninvited on the second day?"
Jasper frowned, a bit annoyed by her distant attitude.
He narrowed his eyes slightly. "No need to talk to me like that; we're not enemies."
After saying this, he directly walked upstairs. "I'm here to get some documents I didn't take before."
After a few steps, he stopped and looked at her. He said, "You said before Thomas is evil, so why are you with him and Mia everyday now? Playing with fire?"
