Chapter 726 Don't Forget Our Agreement

The next morning, Adeline had just woken up when she heard a commotion outside.

She frowned and instinctively pulled back the curtains.

Downstairs, Joseph, dressed in a red hoodie, was standing with his hands on his hips, directing a group of workers to arrange roses into a giant heart shape in the garden.

Jasper stood nearby, holding a massive bouquet of roses, talking into his phone. It looked like he was video chatting with Lauren, as her excited little voice occasionally came through.

By coincidence, as Adeline opened the curtains, Jasper looked up in her direction.

Their eyes met.

Jasper put away his phone and smiled at her.

Today, he was wearing a charcoal gray trench coat over khaki pants and a white sweater, with frameless glasses on his face.

In the morning sunlight, his smile lacked its usual arrogance and coldness, replaced by warmth and elegance.

This was a side of Jasper that Adeline had never seen before.

She stared at him, stunned for a while.

Finally, Adeline blushed and let the curtains fall back into place.

Even through the curtains, she could still feel Jasper's intense gaze.

Maybe it was the morning sun, but Adeline found herself blushing, which was rare for her.

Downstairs.

Jasper watched her close the curtains, his brow furrowing slightly.

He glanced at Joseph. "Are you sure this will work? Why did she close the curtains?"

Joseph rolled his eyes at him. "Mr. Foster, you have to trust my taste. I picked this outfit for you. It's the standard look for TV drama leads! No woman can resist it!"

He sighed. "Originally, I planned to buy this for Mr. Phoebe to woo my mom, but he is hopeless. He still hasn't found my mom after all this time."

Jasper smirked. "Why do you call him Mr. Phoebe?"

It was the first time he had heard a child call their father "Mr. Phoebe."

"He used to call me Dad." As Jasper's question hung in the air, Oliver got out of a nearby car and walked towards the villa. "He and Nova grew up without a mom, so he didn't think much of it. A year ago, when he found out other kids had moms, he started pestering me to find him one. He even threatened that if I didn't find him a mom, he wouldn't call me Dad."

Oliver's words made Joseph cross his arms and look away. "But it's been a year, and you still haven't found one!"

Oliver gave him a brief glance, said nothing, and walked into the villa.

Inside the villa, Mia, in her pajamas, was sitting on the couch having a meeting with Ryan.

"I sent you the documents yesterday. All the information is in there. You don't need to ask me everything!"

Ryan, on the other end of the video call, looked even more confused. "But Ms. White, about the Torres family's recent actions..."

"The Torres family's recent actions are all to lure you into bringing Jasper back to take charge, so there's no need to worry."

Suddenly, Oliver interrupted Ryan and Mia's conversation.

Mia in the villa turned around, shocked to see Oliver walk in.

Her eyes widened. "You..."

Ryan on the other end of the call was silent for a moment, then laughed. "I've been wondering why Ms. White, someone from Radiance Springs, knows so much about Oceancrest City and can guide our work. So, Ms. White has Mr. Phoebe behind her. My apologies."

With that, Ryan ended the call.

Mia continued to stare at Oliver. "You've been the one communicating with me about Oceancrest City's layout!"

Oliver sat next to Mia, pulled her head onto his shoulder, and quickly snapped a few photos with his phone.

The unfamiliar scent of Oliver's cologne made Mia feel like she had been electrocuted.

Instinctively, she pulled away from his embrace and raised her hand, preparing to slap him.

However, Mia's hand was intercepted mid-air by Oliver.

He smirked, shaking his phone. "I told you yesterday during our call that Brandon had withdrawn the people tracking me and monitoring you? Do you know why?"

Mia frowned, her hand suspended mid-air, trapped by his firm grip.

She glared at Oliver, embarrassed. "What does Brandon withdrawing his people have to do with you taking advantage of me?"

"Really?" Oliver smirked and, with their current position, pressed Mia down onto the couch.

Mia's hands were pinned above her head, her body trapped beneath his, unable to move.

Oliver leaned close to her ear, his lips curling into a smile. "This is taking advantage."

The heat from his body and the coolness of his breath made Mia momentarily breathless.

Oliver smirked at her flushed face, whispering in her ear. "Ms. White, don't worry, I'm not interested in you. Taking photos with you is just to make Brandon think I'm really pursuing you. If it weren't for covering for Jasper and Adeline, I wouldn't want to act with you, understand?"

He released Mia and stood up, elegantly adjusting his collar. "Today's photos are done. See you tomorrow."

With that, Oliver turned and left without looking back.

Mia, both embarrassed and angry, grabbed a pillow from the couch and threw it in Oliver's direction. "Get out!"

Brandon's people had relaxed their surveillance on Oliver and Mia, so Jasper could stay outside Magnolia Estate all day.

At first, Adeline found him annoying. As time passed, she slowly grew accustomed to waking up and checking if he was there.

Pulling back the curtains, she saw Jasper standing outside in the autumn breeze, wearing a new khaki sweater.

Her heart felt inexplicably warm.

Adeline told herself that if he could keep this up for seven days, she would go down to see him.

Adeline counted the days on her fingers, worried that seven days might be too long and he wouldn't last.

But then she thought, hadn't she suffered for him for more than seven years?

If standing for seven days was too much for him, he would never take her seriously in the future.

So Adeline sighed, gently stroking her flat belly. "Baby, for your sake, let's hope he can last seven days."

Just then, her phone rang. It was Brandon.

"Adeline, don't forget our appointment tonight. At seven, I'll be waiting for you at Lucky Restaurant with the jade ring."

Adeline bit her lip, glancing at Jasper outside. "I'll be there."

That jade ring, since it was left by Esther for the Foster family, she had to get it back and give it to Jasper.

Not just for him, but for the late Lily as well.
