Chapter 755 I Will Also Take Good Care of You

"Is Brandon here?"

Adeline froze at the servant's words.

The servant said Brandon had come to admit his mistake after hearing she was pregnant.

The implication was that the child she was carrying was Brandon's.

But Adeline knew better than anyone that the child was Jasper's.

Moreover, since she returned to Oceancrest City, Brandon had been paralyzed. Nothing inappropriate had ever happened between them.

What was Brandon trying to do by coming here now?

"Adeline's pregnant, and he's here to admit what mistake?" Oliver frowned, glancing suspiciously at Adeline's back and then towards the door. "Is he trying to claim that Adeline's child is his?"

"The dates don't match, and he's been paralyzed for how long now?"

Oliver's words made Howard frown even more. He glared at Oliver, "So what if he's paralyzed?"

"Six years ago, you were so weak, yet you still managed to father a child at Radiance Springs."

Oliver, hit where it hurt, fell silent.

Daisy sighed dramatically, "I always thought the child Adeline is carrying was Jasper's."

"Who knew it was Brandon's."

"Well, this works out. You two can get engaged right away."

"The child is only a little over a month old. By the time it's born, we can say it was a premature birth, and no one will know Adeline was pregnant before marriage."

Daisy emphasized the words "pregnant before marriage," making Howard's face pale.

Esther had also been pregnant before marriage. When he married her, she was already five months along. Not only did she endure undue verbal abuse at the wedding, but she also remained depressed afterward. If it weren't for the constant verbal abuse, she wouldn't have run away and returned so badly injured... Thinking of this, Howard made up his mind, "Let Brandon in!"

He wouldn't let his daughter repeat Esther's mistakes!

Zara, sitting in the corner, saw the look in Howard's eyes and knew he was thinking of Esther.

Zara lowered her eyes and remained silent.

After all these years, she was still just a woman slightly closer than a stranger to Howard.

She could never compare to Esther in his heart.

Even though she had tested and made poisons for him for years, ruining her own health, she never had a place in his heart.

When Adeline turned and came downstairs, she immediately saw Zara's pale face.

Adeline was too familiar with the emotions in Zara's eyes.

Adeline sighed. Although she had been angry at Zara for being closer to Daisy, she couldn't help but feel sorry for the pitiful woman.

Adeline walked over, sat beside Zara, gently held her hand, and whispered, "What's wrong?"

Zara shook her head, resting her head on Adeline's shoulder, and sighed deeply, "Nothing."

"Mr. Phoebe, Mrs. Phoebe."

Soon, Brandon entered, led by the servant.

As soon as he entered, he saw Adeline sitting beside Zara.

Brandon smiled at Adeline.

Adeline frowned and turned her head away.

She had firmly rejected Brandon's proposal at the backstage of the banquet hall earlier tonight. The scene was still fresh in her mind.

Now, Brandon was here at the Phoebe Mansion because of her pregnancy.

Adeline didn't know how to face Brandon.

"Brandon."

Howard frowned, glancing at the man in the wheelchair, his gaze indifferent. "You said you came to admit your mistake?"

"What mistake are you here to admit?"

Brandon sighed, glancing at Adeline's profile, a smile on his lips. "Because the child Adeline is carrying is mine."

The living room fell silent.

Oliver squinted, "Mr. Torres, when did you develop a habit of claiming other people's children?"

"You say Adeline's child is yours, but the child is already over a month old."

"Over a month ago, Mr. Torres had just been in a car accident, paralyzed, and severely injured... In that condition, you expect me to believe you could get Adeline pregnant?"

His rude words made the room fall silent.

Howard's frown deepened, "Oliver!"

"Do you have any manners?"

Oliver sneered, "No."

"My father never set a good example for me."

"You!"

Seeing the father and son about to argue, Brandon smiled faintly, "Mr. Howard Phoebe, Mr. Oliver Phoebe, don't argue because of me."

He sighed, "Mr. Oliver Phoebe's words aren't entirely unreasonable."

"My health wasn't great before."

"But..."

Brandon glanced at Adeline, "Anything is possible, right?"

"Exactly."

Daisy smirked, "Oliver, you're too narrow-minded."

"Mr. Torres may not have been in good health, but in matters between men and women, it can be initiated by either party."

She looked at Adeline smugly, "Adeline, isn't that right?"

"But it must have been tough for you. Most people would control their desires seeing the other person in such a state."

"It shows you like a challenge."

Adeline's face turned ugly.

Zara sighed, pushing Daisy to defend Adeline, "Don't joke around. What do you know about relationships?"

Brandon couldn't help but smile at the description of Daisy as someone who had never been in a relationship.

Daisy, never been in a relationship? That was the funniest thing he'd heard in years.

After their engagement, Daisy had often tried to sneak into his room.

But it was impressive how she had kept up the act for so long.

Taking a deep breath, Brandon looked at Adeline and smiled:

"Adeline, can we talk about the child?"

"I know you want to keep the baby, but if you still think we're not suitable and don't want to get engaged or married... this child can't be born."

"You understand that, right?"

Brandon's gaze was fixed on Adeline.

Adeline closed her eyes and sighed deeply.

After a moment, she stood up and pushed Brandon's wheelchair out the door to the small garden behind the Phoebe Mansion.

The rain had stopped, and the air was filled with the scent of freshly washed earth.

In a secluded corner, Brandon looked ahead and spoke softly:

"Adeline, I don't know why you're so determined to have Jasper's child, but..."

Brandon turned his wheelchair around and gently held Adeline's hand:

"If you want, I'll take care of this child just like I take care of Blake, Bennett, and Lauren."

"And I'll take care of you too."
