Chapter 45 You Seem to Have Animosity Toward Her

Adeline took a sharp breath.

"No!"

She firmly refused, fearing Jasper would catch her.

Jasper didn't say whether he believed her or not. He simply stared at her with those deep, bottomless eyes.

Adeline's heart grew even more anxious.

After a long silence, she said, "I really have no connection with him."

"I'm just..." She took a deep breath and glanced at Ryan standing next to Jasper. "It's Ryan."

"Ryan said he would find the person who drugged you, and if it's not me, then it must be that boy outside." When Adeline mentioned Bennett, she deliberately spoke with distance. "I think that young child might have just played a prank, but if you, sir, were truly angry, he wouldn't be able to handle it at his age."

"So you took the initiative to admit it was you who drugged me. Is that so?"

"Mhmm,"

Jasper raised an eyebrow and chuckled. "So, is Miss Wilson someone who cares so much for unknown children?"

Adeline nodded and smiled softly. "Yes. That's my biggest flaw. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come to Blue Bay to serve Mr. Foster as a maid and almost ended up being molested."

Ryan, beside her, was instantly stunned.

He stared at Adeline, then at Jasper.

Mr. Foster? Did he actually act inappropriately toward Adeline?

For the past few years, Ryan had been by Jasper's side, and Jasper had remained chaste to the point where he didn't even show any intimate actions toward his fiancée, Molly!

And yet, he had acted inappropriately toward this woman named Adeline!

Moreover, judging from Mr. Foster's attitude, what Adeline said didn't seem like a lie.

Ryan was at a loss.

Wasn't Adeline always plotting against Mr. Foster?

Then why was it Mr. Foster who acted inappropriately first?

"Go out," Jasper said to Ryan. Perhaps Ryan's shocked expression was too blatant.

"Alright! I'll leave immediately!" Ryan quickly turned around and left.

Right before closing the door, he turned back and looked at Adeline. "Good luck!"

After Ryan left, the atmosphere in the hospital room became even more ambiguous.

Adeline coughed lightly. "Mr. Foster, is there anything else? If not, please rest well."

"I know you approached me for a reason." The man looked at her, his gaze like a deep pool. "If you don't want to say it, I won't force you."

His voice was low and indifferent. "Many people have approached me with hidden intentions, but you're the only successful one.

"I don't care what you plan to do or what your intentions are, but remember, Lauren and my wife are my bottom line.

"As long as you don't put Lauren in danger and don't slander my wife, I can allow you to stay."

In fact, he could have dismissed her and found a new maid for Lauren.

However, the new maid might not be liked by Lauren, and they would need time to get used to each other.

This woman, though she had ulterior motives, would never harm Lauren. He had confirmed it during their time together on the Ferris wheel in the amusement park.

She was more dedicated and considerate toward Lauren than he, her biological father, was.

That was the reason she could continue to stay.

Adeline curled her lips. "Does Mr. Foster's bottom line only involve these two?"

Jasper nodded.

A hint of mockery appeared on the woman's lips. "What about Mr. Foster's fiancée, Miss Collins?"

Perhaps he hadn't expected her to bring up Molly. Jasper paused for a moment. Then he chuckled and said, "It seems you hold a grudge against her."

"Of course, she holds a grudge against me too."

Jasper smiled. "That's true."

After saying that, he looked at Adeline with a serious expression. "I don't really care what you do to Molly. I'm quite interested in seeing which one of you will come out on top."

No wonder he didn't mention Molly when talking about his bottom line.

Did he want to see her and Molly compete?

Maybe not.

He just felt that he spoiled Molly too much and wanted to give her a sense of crisis.

After all, in the past, he risked everything for Molly, even when she was pregnant with triplets. What about now?

Unfortunately, back then he tortured her to please Molly, and now he's still torturing her to punish Molly.

Thinking of this, Adeline couldn't help but feel nauseous.

She smiled and said, "I'm naturally no match for Miss Collins."

Whether it was six years ago or six years later, wasn't she always Molly's defeated subordinate?

"That's not necessarily true."

The man closed his eyes and rubbed his throbbing forehead. "It's getting late. You should go back. Take Lauren with you and rest well."

Adeline nodded and turned to leave.

She didn't want to stay with this man for another moment.

As she reached the door, she heard his deep voice from behind. "Take the little boy to Blue Bay as well and have the servants send him back tomorrow."

Adeline halted for a moment. "Mr. Foster, he drugged you and caused you to be hospitalized. Aren't you... angry?"

"I'm not very angry." The man's voice was indifferent. "Technically, I should be angry. But I can't bring myself to be mad at him. I just feel a connection with him."

Adeline's heart skipped a beat, as if something inside her had gone hollow. "I understand."

With that, she opened the door and left without looking back.

The door to the hospital room closed once again.

Jasper sighed and took a sip from the glass on the bedside table.

After the lukewarm water went down, he suddenly remembered that Adeline had also drunk from this cup earlier.

He set the cup down with his well-defined hands.

Did that count as indirectly kissing her?

Speaking of kissing, he closed his eyes and recalled the scene in the villa where he almost kissed Adeline.

He didn't know what was happening to him.

Ever since Adeline left, he hadn't been interested in any other woman, but tonight, this woman just kept drawing him in involuntarily.

He wanted to get closer to her, kiss her, and entwine with her until death.

He closed his eyes and smiled bitterly.

What was happening to him?

Didn't he swear to only love Adeline in this lifetime?

Adeline was alive, and she also gave birth to their daughter and sent her back to him.

And what was he doing?

Having impulsive thoughts about a woman he barely knew for a month?

After a while, he called for Ryan to come in.

His face didn't look too good. "Go to the company and bring the files for tomorrow's plans," he said.

Ryan hesitated. "Sir, are you planning to work overnight? Your body has just..."

Jasper glanced at him, and Ryan immediately closed his mouth. "I will go now!"

After saying that, he quickly left the ward.

"Adeline, did you make the gentleman angry again?"

Ryan messaged Adeline as he walked to the parking lot. "He is so angry that he plans to work overnight!"
