Chapter 230 Maybe for You
Adeline was unconscious in the hotel until three in the afternoon.
At three o'clock, she got a call from Bennett.
His voice on the other end was a bit excited. "Mommy, where are you? Both Lauren and I miss you so much!"
Listening to him, Adeline's heart instantly softened and melted.
After some silence, she lowered her voice and said, "I can't come back today. I'm still in Victoria Hollow City."
Bennett, on the other end, paused for a bit before his voice turned calm. "Are you facing some problems?"
She bit her lip, unsure of how to tell him about this. She could only sigh deeply. "Yes, I've encountered some issues. A friend of mine is in trouble."
Bennett was quite understanding.
He pursed his lips and replied, "I understand; I'll tell Lauren properly. She won't get angry or make a scene. You deal with your friend's matters there first. When you decide to come back, let me know; Lauren and I will prepare to welcome you properly."
He continued, "Mommy, even if you encounter very difficult situations, don't be sad. Things will always work out."
"If there's anything we three can help with, just let us know. We will always be your strongest support."
His words made her unable to hold back her tears any longer.
Since learning about Linda's incident, she had been filled with guilt and self-blame.
Moreover, everyone's attitudes around her were mostly accusatory.
Jasper even said directly that she was the one who put Linda in trouble.
Only her children, when she faced problems, cared not about the situation itself but about her.
Adeline's tears flowed uncontrollably like a dam had burst. Once they started falling, she couldn't stop.
With one hand holding the phone and the other covering her mouth, she tried not to cry loudly.
Bennett, on the other end of the line, just listened quietly.
After a while, when she felt her head spinning from crying, he finally sighed quietly.
"Mommy, go get yourself a glass of water."
She sniffled, then got up from the bed to pour herself some water.
After drinking it, her emotions gradually stabilized.
Adeline breathed deeply, wiping away her remaining tears. "I've embarrassed myself front of you."
Bennett chuckled. "You're my mommy; you can be as embarrassing as you want in front of me. After all, you've even seen me without clothes!"
His words made her burst into laughter through her tears.
After a while, she took a deep breath. "Don't tell Lauren and Blake about this, but I might be able to return to Radiance Springs tomorrow."
He was silent for a moment. "What about your friend's situation? Are you not going to resolve it?"
She rubbed her forehead and smiled bitterly. "Jasper won't allow me to stay here any longer. Moreover, he's right. Even if I stayed, I wouldn't be able to do anything except remind my friend of those unpleasant memories."
He fell silent again before asking, "So... is your friend's incident related to you, Mommy?"
"She got into trouble because of me." Adeline closed her eyes. "I can't say much more to you. Just take care of Lauren at home, and wait for me to come back."
After saying that, she added as if recalling something, "By the way, has Blake and Brandon's plan... Halted?"
"It has." Bennett paused. "Blake said that he suddenly lost your signal last night, so he attacked Victoria Hollow City's surveillance and located you then."
"Blake said he saw something that made him feel Jasper can still be forgiven, so he persuaded Uncle Torres, and they stopped the attack on Foster Group."
Bennett's words made Adeline's heart sink instantly.
She thought, 'Blake attacked the city's surveillance system last night to find me… Does that mean he actually saw what happened to me last night?'
She dared not dwell on it, so she bit her lip and softly asked Bennett, "Did Blake say anything else?"
"Nothing else." Bennett furrowed his eyebrow. "What's wrong, Mommy?"
"Nothing." Adeline took a deep breath. She talked a bit more with Bennett in haste before quickly hanging up.
She set the phone down, finally calming her turbulent emotions. Then, she finally mustered the courage to press the switch on the necklace she used to communicate with Blake.
"Mommy."
As soon as the signal connected, Blake's serious voice came through, "I've sent evidence of Quinn Group's illegal activities over the years through email to Victoria Hollow City's police."
He added, "Don't worry; those who harmed Aunt Linda will receive the punishment they deserve."
Adeline's hand holding the necklace trembled slightly. She then said, "Blake..."
He replied, "I know everything."
He took a deep breath. "Actually, there's a program in this necklace that can be remotely activated."
"Since I couldn't receive your signal last night, I attacked the surveillance there."
He continued, "When I confirmed you were safe and in a place where there was signal, I activated this program. From the moment Jasper rescued you last night to when you were on the phone just now, this necklace has been listening the whole time."
"I know everything."
Adeline felt her vision darken, taking a deep breath. "Don't tell Bennett and Lauren."
Blake replied. "I know."
In a hospital room across the ocean, Blake took a deep breath. His voice was low as he said, "Mommy, you don't need to blame yourself too much. No one can see what evil intentions others are hiding."
"Aunt Phoebe's ordeal is mainly because of the Quinns. There's nothing wrong with you recognizing her."
After speaking, Blake took a deep breath. "And I agree with Jasper. You should go back to Radiance Springs."
He added, "In the next few days, the bad things the Quinns have done in the past will be revealed one by one, and Mr. Quinn will pay the price he deserves."
Adeline fell silent for a moment.
Using the Quinn family's criminal history to deal with Morris was indeed the best way.
If his crime was harming Linda, then what she went through would be brought up repeatedly as a conversation topic.
However, Adeline still furrowed her eyebrows. "Blake, can you... really do this?"
Even if the Quinns lost their backing and fell, Morris was still the former richest man in Victoria Hollow City.
Only being a child, it might be challenging for Blake to bring Morris down.
"Of course, I'm not doing this alone." Blake, on the other end of the phone, smiled faintly. "There's more than just me collecting evidence of the Quinn family's crimes.
Adeline asked, "Who else is helping you?"
He replied, "Jasper. He's much more capable than me; I can only rely on tracking information online, but he uses connections."
"He and David's people are working together, finding evidence by collaborating with anyone in Victoria Hollow City who has had conflicts or contact with the Quinn family."
Adeline froze in place, recalling Jasper's indifferent face before she passed out.
'Jasper... how could he do such a thing?'
After all, the Quinns and the Fosters were old acquaintances; Jasper's father, Nathan Foster, and Morris Quinn had been good friends for many years.
Moreover, Linda and Jasper... seemed to have no connection at all.
Did he really need to send Nathan's longtime friend to prison for her sake?
"He probably isn't doing it for Linda."
Seemingly guessing her doubts, Blake fell silent for a moment on the phone. "Mommy, have you ever thought that he might be doing this for you?"
