Chapter 504 Who Exactly is the Resentful Woman?
Adeline, Violet, and Ethan loaded up on tasty treats at the fireworks show.
Since Adeline couldn't drink, Ethan made sure to grab a bunch of different flavored drinks for her and Violet to pick from.
"I've always heard about this fireworks party, but work's always kept me away. I didn't expect it to be this amazing!" Violet said, looking at Adeline. "So, do you feel like all the bad vibes from Jasper are gone now?"
Adeline shrugged. "Not really."
Being here actually brought back a lot of old memories.
This wasn't her first time at the Radiance Springs fireworks party.
The year she married Jasper, she was still a girl full of dreams.
After hearing from the staff at home that Radiance Springs had a fireworks party every summer, Adeline always tried to get Jasper to come with her.
Back then, Adeline's thoughts were simple.
Jasper didn't like her when they got married.
Adeline thought that going to such a romantic event like the fireworks party would make Jasper start to like her.
But every time she asked, he turned her down. Eventually, when she was heartbroken, Molly came to her and said that even if Jasper wouldn't go, she still had her sister.
That year's fireworks party was a blast for Adeline and Molly.
From that day on, she started feeling let down by Jasper and closer to Molly.
During many moments when Jasper ignored her, she was thankful to have Molly by her side.
But she never expected that in the end, Molly and Jasper would betray her.
Watching the distant fireworks, Adeline couldn't help but remember Molly's bright smile when she was with her.
Adeline sighed and snapped back to reality. "But anyway, thanks, you guys. You could've had a night to yourselves, but you brought me along."
Violet gave her a playful look. "What are you talking about? You're our friend. We couldn't just leave you alone at home."
"Exactly." Ethan handed a fruit platter to Violet. "Have something light. You've already had five skewers."
Violet pouted. "Are you calling me fat?"
Ethan sighed. "That's not what I meant."
Adeline sat on the side, listening to their banter, and rubbed her temples helplessly.
She had eaten enough and wasn't that hungry anymore.
Adeline said, "You guys chat; I'm going to take a walk."
With that, she got up and left.
Seeing Adeline leave, Violet frowned and wanted to stop her, but Ethan held her back.
Ethan said, "Let her have some quiet time. She's been through a lot and needs time to adjust."
Violet pursed her lips, sighed, and turned back.
"Jasper?"
Turning around, Violet saw Jasper being held by Luna.
At this moment, Jasper and Luna were standing elegantly and gracefully in front of Violet, hand in hand.
Violet frowned. "What are you doing here?"
Luna glanced at Jasper, her eyes full of disdain as she looked at Violet.
Luna asked, "Jasper, do you know these two?"
Jasper frowned and nodded. "This one is Adeline's friend, Violet; the other is Violet's boyfriend, Ethan."
When Ethan saw Jasper, he quickly smiled and extended his hand. "Mr. Foster, hello! We met when we were doing business!"
Jasper shook his hand briefly and then withdrew. "Enjoy yourselves."
With that, he pulled Luna away.
Watching the two of them walk away all lovey-dovey, Violet couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Cheaters."
Her voice carried over to Jasper and Luna on the night breeze.
Luna frowned and instinctively wanted to snap back, but Jasper stopped her.
He came here tonight partly to see Adeline and partly to take a walk with Luna.
Jasper didn't want any drama. So, he pretended not to hear and pulled Luna along.
They hadn't gone far when his phone inconveniently rang. It was a call from the company. Business stuff.
Seeing Jasper busy, Luna bit her lip and turned towards the corner of the fireworks party.
Actually, Luna had another reason for being here tonight besides watching the fireworks with Jasper.
She wanted to use the crowded and chaotic fireworks party to meet with Molly's contact and pick up something.
After Luna complained to Molly about Lily being a pain, Molly told her she had something that could shut Lily up. So tonight, Luna came specifically for that item.
Apparently, the person she was meeting was one of Molly's staff members who had low intelligence due to an injury.
Luna had just walked a few steps towards the agreed spot when she ran into Violet and Ethan, who were strolling hand in hand.
Violet, as usual, gave Luna a cold look and turned away.
Ethan, out of respect for Jasper, politely greeted Luna. "Ms. Jones."
Luna rolled her eyes at Violet before looking up at Ethan. "You're so handsome; how did you end up with such a bitter girlfriend?"
Violet, already upset with Luna because of Adeline, had had a bit to drink tonight. The alcohol made her more emotional.
Facing Luna's taunt, Violet snorted and glared at her. "Sickly woman, who are you calling bitter? Oh right, you're not bitter; you're venomous! Always lying and scheming, thinking about how to mess with others. Venomous woman!"
Violet's words left Luna stunned.
She didn't expect Adeline's friend, who looked so delicate and weak, to be so fierce when cursing!
Luna bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes, and turned to look at Ethan. "Mr. Sterling, look at your girlfriend, why is she so fierce? I just said something casually; does she have to glare at me, accuse me, and call me venomous?"
Ethan coughed lightly and pulled Violet into his arms. "Ms. Jones, don't take it too seriously. Violet is just straightforward and likes to give as good as she gets. If you don't say anything excessive to her, she won't react like this."
Probably not expecting Ethan to be immune to her tactics, Luna bit her lip and rushed forward to grab Violet's hand. "Violet, your words hurt me so much."
As she grabbed, Violet felt her fingers being painfully scratched by Luna's nails.
Violet pushed Luna away.
Then Luna fell directly onto the sand.
As she cried, Luna tried to get up from the sand but couldn't. In the end, it was the onlookers who helped her up.
After getting up, Luna continued to cry and accuse, "We're all Adeline's friends; how can you treat me like this?"
After walking around the beach, Adeline was about to find Violet and Ethan when she saw them with Luna, surrounded by a crowd.
Anxious, Adeline hurried over. She had only taken a few steps when someone grabbed her as she passed a rock.
The person behind her held her arm. "Adeline."
Adeline felt her blood start to run cold hearing that voice. She slowly turned around.
