Chapter 789 The Engagement is Canceled

In the Airport.

Blake sat slumped in his small wheelchair, eyes glued to the entrance.

Bennett squeezed his hand and sighed, "Blake, we gotta go. It's time to board."

He glanced at the entrance, "If Mom was really coming, she would've shown up at Mr. Gonzalez's last night."

"She... she might have her reasons," Blake mumbled, still staring into the distance.

He hoped to catch even a glimpse of Adeline.

She used to care so much about the three of them. How could she leave without even saying goodbye?

This time, they were heading back to Radiance Springs. If nothing unexpected happened, they wouldn't be coming back to Oceancrest City.

The Phoebe Family wouldn't let Adeline go to Radiance Springs.

If they didn't see Adeline now, they might have to wait until Jasper brought her back home.

And if the worst happened, if Jasper and Adeline didn't reconcile, who knew when they would see her again?

"Sir, please hurry!"

Adeline sat in the back of the car, racing to the airport, tears streaming down her face.

How could she have known that Blake was still so unwell last night, and that Jasper would send them away today?

She had been busy all morning with the Phoebe Family matters, breaking off her engagement with Brandon... She didn't realize they were already at the airport!

Blake must be so disappointed in her, so disappointed!

Adeline clutched her phone, repeatedly dialing Blake's number.

But his phone was off.

She bit her lip, frantically sending messages to Blake: [Blake, Mommy is on her way. Please wait for me a little longer!]

"Blake, it's not that Mommy doesn't want to see you. I was busy and didn't check my phone!"

"Please, don't leave. Mommy is on her way."

Hearing Adeline's tearful voice from the back seat, the driver sped up.

But no matter how fast they went, by the time Adeline breathlessly reached the airport, she only saw Bennett and Lauren pushing Blake's wheelchair, led by Jason, disappearing into the boarding gate.

"Blake! Bennett! Lauren!"

Adeline screamed their names, running towards them.

But it was too far.

The entrance and the boarding gate were too far apart.

The airport was crowded and noisy, her voice drowned out by the chaos.

The kids didn't hear her.

As they entered the boarding gate, Blake turned back from his wheelchair.

At the security checkpoint, there were only Jasper, Ryan, and David.

No sign of his mom.

Blake looked away, closing his eyes in disappointment.

Maybe this time, Mom really wanted to cut ties with the Foster Family.

But they weren't just the Foster Family.

They were her children, too.

"Let's go, Blake."

Jason gently patted Blake's shoulder.

Blake nodded, finally letting go, "Okay, let's go home."

Radiance Springs was their home.

When Adeline reached the security checkpoint, the kids had already disappeared into the boarding gate.

In her haste, she almost tripped.

A strong hand caught her.

"Careful." The deep, magnetic voice made Adeline's heart tighten.

She looked up. It was Jasper, his face etched with cold lines.

He helped her stand, "Ms. Phoebe, you're too late."

Jasper looked at her, a hint of mockery in his voice, "This flight was supposed to leave two hours ago."

"The kids insisted on waiting, delaying Jason for two hours just to wait for you."

"Blake called and messaged you until his phone died."

He glanced at his watch. "It takes about twenty minutes to get from the Phoebe Mansion to here."

"I didn't expect Ms. Phoebe to be so busy after returning to the Phoebe Family."

Last night, Blake fainted, and Adeline had promised Lauren to visit her at Swan Villa, but she didn't show up.

Today, the kids wanted to see her one last time before leaving Oceancrest City.

She still didn't show up.

Jasper could understand Adeline being cold to him, but he couldn't understand why she was so heartless to the kids.

Was it because of him that she was taking it out on the kids?

He took a deep breath, looking at Adeline, "If you're so busy, don't waste any more time. Go back."

With that, Jasper turned to David and Ryan, "Let's go."

David gave Adeline a cold look, a wicked smile on his lips as he brushed past her.

Ryan took a deep breath, stepping in front of Adeline, "Mrs. Foster, is something wrong?"

"Blake and Lauren waited for you for a long time."

"She's no longer Mrs. Foster."

Hearing Ryan's voice, Jasper stopped, his voice icy, "The Foster Family's Mrs. Foster is Adeline Wilson."

"And this woman in front of you is Adeline Phoebe."

"Different names, don't mix them up."

"Soon, she'll be part of the Torres Family."

Ryan was stunned, quickly lowering his head and following Jasper.

Hearing their footsteps, Adeline's hands clenched into fists at her sides.

Twenty minutes later, Oliver and Mia found Adeline at the airport.

Mia bit her lip, gently holding Adeline's hand, "If you want to cry, just cry."

Adeline closed her eyes, falling into Mia's arms without a sound.

But her tears soaked Mia's clothes.

Mia sighed, stroking Adeline's head, glancing at Oliver.

Oliver took off his coat, covering Adeline's face, and with Mia's help, lifted her into his arms. "Let's go home."

In the parking lot outside the airport.

In a black Maserati in the corner, Jasper sat in the passenger seat, coldly watching Adeline being carried into a car by Oliver.

David, sitting in the back, handed him a cigarette. "You care about her, so why say such hurtful things?"

Jasper took a deep drag, a self-mocking smile on his lips, "What else can I do? Beg her?"

"I've begged. She never sees me."

No matter how much he did for her, it was never as good as Brandon's sweet words.

At that moment, Ryan hurriedly got into the car, "Mr. Foster."

"Our informant in the Torres Family just reported..."

"Mrs. Foster has broken off her engagement with Brandon!"
