Chapter 589 Sebastian Went Back to Hometown

He strolled over to Adeline and quietly pulled out a knife. As he cut the ropes binding her, he gave a faint smile.

"Even though I like the name Bennett, you should call me Liam."

"Okay, Liam."

Adeline watched as Bennett, or rather Liam, untied her. Her emotions shifted from despair to joy, and then to something more complicated.

He said his name was Liam, but he liked the name Bennett.

Bennett was clearly his original name. Because she had been seriously injured during her pregnancy, the kids weren't in great health when they were born.

She had spent a long time deciding on the names for her three children.

The name "Bennett" was the first gift she gave him. And now, even though he didn't remember who he was, he still liked the name Bennett.

Thinking about this made her heart ache. As soon as the ropes were off, Adeline hugged Bennett tightly.

She held him close without saying a word.

Adeline's sudden hug made Bennett's eyes widen in surprise, and he instinctively tried to pull away.

But she was an adult, and he was just a six-year-old kid. He couldn't break free.

Bennett didn't want to hurt her, so he sighed and spoke sullenly while being held, "Ma'am, please let go of me."

Adeline closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of Bennett, whom she hadn't hugged in a long time, and smiled. "Don't talk, let me hold you for a while."

He had no choice but to gently pat her back, imitating an adult's way of comforting her.

"Alright, the robbers have all been chased away by me. Don't be afraid."

Adeline's body stiffened suddenly, but then she felt a warmth in her heart.

No wonder he stopped struggling, Bennett must have thought she was scared by those robbers.

She closed her eyes and sniffled. "Yes, luckily you were here."

When she was almost raped just now, she had indeed been both desperate and hopeless. But when Bennett appeared, all her previous fear and despair instantly vanished.

Nothing made her happier than her long-lost son reappearing and saving her.

"It's all over now." Bennett used the few comforting words he knew to keep reassuring Adeline.

After a while, Adeline's phone rang. Only then did she reluctantly let go of Bennett to answer the call. "Hello, Violet."

Suddenly released by Adeline, Bennett stood there, a bit at a loss. After a while, he sighed and quietly sat to the side, waiting for Adeline to finish her call.

Sitting in the chair, he could still feel her warmth and scent on him. It was a scent similar to that of a mother.

This was the first time he had been hugged by a woman.

Although Molly had given birth to him and raised him, she had never hugged him or shown him any warmth.

He looked at Adeline in front of him, who was handling her clothes while talking on the phone, and inexplicably began to envy her kids. They must be very happy to have a mother like her.

Not long after, Adeline wrapped up her call. She took a deep breath and looked at Bennett. "Do you know where we are? I need to find my friend."

Bennett nodded. "My car's outside; I can give you a ride."

As they walked out, he said casually, "You're in a rush for the engagement ceremony tonight, right?"

Adeline paused and quickly followed him. "Yes."

"I saw the news about your engagement." He stopped and turned to look at her. "Can I come?"

Adeline was taken aback. She looked at the little guy in front of her. "You want to attend?"

Bennett nodded. "Can you give me an invite? I want to go and eat something."

Adeline was silent for a moment. Seeing Bennett again had made her so happy that she almost forgot she had questions for him.

She walked up to him, took an invitation from her bag, and handed it to him. "I'd be very happy for you to come to our engagement ceremony."

No matter what, Bennett was her son. Even though this marriage was fake, she wanted him to have these memories when he eventually came back to her.

It was time for Blake and Lauren to meet the current Bennett.

After giving him the invitation, Adeline squatted down to look him in the eye, her gaze serious. "Over a week ago, I saw you at the beach. What were you doing there that night?"

All the clues from that night pointed to Bennett.

And after Jasper woke up, no matter how she asked, he wouldn't say anything.

Bennett looked up at Adeline. "Is what I did that night really important?"

Adeline pressed her lips together, looking at him solemnly. "Very important."

He took a deep breath. "But I don't want to tell you. When the time comes for you to know, you'll know."

He looked steadily into Adeline's eyes. "But what I can tell you is I'm not a bad kid."

After saying this, he turned and walked out of the warehouse.

Watching the little guy's back, Adeline silently bit her lip. Of course, she believed Bennett wasn't a bad kid.

But she had too many questions that needed answers.

"Hurry up, don't you have something urgent?" Bennett's voice called from outside the warehouse.

Adeline took a deep breath and quickly followed.

Outside, the Bentley that Adeline had taken last time was still parked there.

She opened the door and instinctively glanced at the driver's seat. But the driver wasn't Sebastian.

She paused and turned to Bennett. "Did you change drivers?"

Bennett nodded. "Sebastian wasn't feeling well and couldn't keep driving for me, so I got a new one."

"Where did he go?"

Bennett was silent for a moment. "Sebastian went back to his hometown."

His answer made Adeline's heart sink instantly.
