Chapter 368 I Agree to Everything You Say
Misunderstanding?
Adeline snorted and glanced at Mia indifferently. "You believe Thomas, but I don't."
She thought that the reason Thomas claimed he wasn't familiar with Jasper in front of Mia was probably to hide the things he had done for Jasper in the past.
Mia frowned. "Adeline, Thomas may have lied to me about other things, but he has no reason to lie about this."
"You..." Before she could finish her sentence, her phone rang. It was Thomas.
Thomas was sitting in the restaurant, coldly looking at Mia and Adeline outside the glass window. "Are you done talking? Are we going to eat or not?"
His tone was a bit harsh, making Mia's heart tighten. "Yes, we're eating!"
After speaking, she quickly hung up and pulled Adeline back into the restaurant.
The waiter served the entire lunch, and Mia began inviting Adeline to dine.
Adeline ate very little. The whole time, she was observing Thomas.
After a long while, when they finished eating, she put down her chopsticks and glanced at him indifferently. "You didn't seem to have a pleasant conversation with Jasper just now?"
Mentioning Jasper made Thomas even angrier.
He thought he was about to become Mia's husband and would be a prominent figure in Radiance Springs, deserving at least some respect from Jasper. However, this was not the case.
Looking at her face, he sneered. "Yeah, we had a fight."
"Because I refused to help Jasper deceive you, he got furious."
After saying that, he snorted coldly and was about to speak when Mia suddenly clutched her stomach, her face pale. "My stomach hurts."
He frowned and looked at her impatiently. "Didn't your period just end?"
She was sweating from the pain. "It's not my period."
"My stomach hurts terribly."
She bit her lip. "I need to go to the hospital."
He rolled his eyes at her. "You're being dramatic."
"Didn't you get a lot of these back when you were in the countryside? Endure it a bit, and the pain will subside. Why go to a hospital?"
Adeline glanced at Mia, who was in so much pain she couldn't speak, then looked at Thomas's face and directly called 911.
The ambulance arrived quickly.
The doctor initially diagnosed it as acute enteritis.
By the time Mia reached the hospital, she had already passed out from the pain.
Watching her being wheeled into the emergency room, Thomas frowned irritably. "Women are such a hassle."
Adeline squinted. "Is this how you treat your wife too?"
As soon as Adeline finished her question, heblurted out, "She never gets sick like this. She's healthier than I am."
After speaking, he suddenly realized something was off.
He frowned and turned his head, looking at Adeline warily. "How do you know I have a wife?"
Suddenly, he squinted. "Did those traitors Tim and Tom tell you?"
Adeline chuckled. "Do you consider them traitors?"
"In my eyes, someone like you who betrays love is the real traitor."
He smirked. "I betrayed love?"
His voice was cold. "I never liked Mia."
Since he had no secrets left in front of Adeline, he decided to lay everything out.
"I was with her because I knew she was from the White family." He said.
"Everyone in Radiance Springs knows that the richest family is the Foster family, followed by the Smith family, and then the White family."
He shifted to a more comfortable position against the wall, took out a cigarette, and was about to light it when he saw Adeline pointing at a no-smoking sign. After hesitating for a moment, he put it away.
"Back then, I was with Mia, thinking she'd be accepted back into the Whites and I'd become their son-in-law."
As he put the cigarette back into the pack, he said coldly, "Who knew she was so unlikable that they wouldn't acknowledge her."
"So for money, I took a job."
Saying this, he raised an eyebrow and glanced at Adeline. "Which is related to you."
"Then, Jasper gave me five hundred thousand; quite generous of him."
"I went abroad and met Grace, and our family lived a relatively happy life."
"But money always runs out, and just when we were worried about where to get more, the entire White family died."
"Mia became their sole heir."
He smirked cunningly. "How could we pass up such an opportunity?"
Adeline squinted her eyes, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
In her pocket, the recorder was still quietly running.
"Did Grace also approve of what you did?" Adeline asked.
"Of course." Thomas replied.
He laughed out loud. "Now, the whole town is talking about my grand wedding with Mia. Do you think I could do this if my wife didn't agree?"
Adeline was silent for a moment.
After a while, she smiled. "That's true."
"Grace must be someone without any principles."
He snorted, crossing his arms. "You have principles, but are you living better than us now?"
His words stung Adeline.
Yes, she had principles. But was she living better than anyone else now?
Two of her four children were dead.
Of the two who were alive, one had a terminal illness, and the other was autistic.
Despite that, those who framed her lived with utmost ease and freedom.
Hatred surged in her heart, and she wanted to rush forward and tear Thomas apart!
She wanted to cut open his and Jasper's chests and see if their hearts were rotten.
How could anyone do such things?
Hatred surged in her eyes.
She suppressed the hatred in her heart and continued to lead him on. "So you never had any feelings for Mia?"
"Mia loved you for so many years."
He sneered. "You said it yourself; she loved me for so many years."
"If I liked her, I would've made a move long ago. Why wait so long?"
His words made Adeline squint.
The Thomas in front of her turned into Jasper.
Mia's foolish infatuation was just like hers back then; both pathetic and laughable.
She sniffed and turned her face away, speechless.
Not long after, Thomas's phone rang.
He didn't hide it from her and answered the call directly. "Just wait a little longer."
"I'll come back to you and Mark after the wedding in a few days."
"Not enough money? I'll transfer it to you right away. Mia gave me some pocket money yesterday."
"She won't notice at all."
Adeline stood there, gripping the recorder tightly.
She suddenly felt a bit reluctant to record his humiliating words about Mia.
But in the end, she withdrew her hand.
Perhaps only extreme pain could truly make one let go?
Just like her feelings for Jasper.
At night, Blue Bay.
Mia sat in Adeline's bedroom, listening to the recording Adeline played. Her face turned extremely pale.
She kept crying, biting her lip and shaking her head desperately. "I don't believe it!"
"Impossible!"
"How could Thomas do this to me!"
But even as she said she didn't believe it, the despair in her eyes betrayed her emotions.
Adeline sighed and gently held her hand. "I used to be as foolish as you."
Mia couldn't hold back anymore and hugged Adeline, crying loudly. She talked about all the years she had devoted to Thomas with genuine feelings.
Adeline listened quietly, as if she were gazing upon her foolish old self.
They talked late into the night.
Finally, Mia wiped her tear-stained eyes and looked at Adeline. "You said before that you wanted me to promise you one thing."
"Go ahead; no matter what it is, I'll agree."
