Chapter 696 She Wants to See Him

Adeline had a restless night.

In her dreams, she kept seeing Jasper arriving in Oceancrest City, targeting the Torres family because of her.

So, early in the morning, she hurried to find Brandon, took his phone, and called the front desk of David's hotel again.

Once she confirmed that David had received her message and passed it on to Jasper, she felt a bit more at ease.

"You really don't need to worry so much," Brandon said, putting away his phone and giving Adeline a faint smile. "Even if Jasper comes to Oceancrest City and finds the Torres family, it won't matter much. I can't send you away right now. If he can come and rescue you, it would fulfill my wish."

Adeline shook her head. "The Torres family saved me when I was at my lowest and helped me give birth to and raise my three children. They are my benefactors. No matter what, I can't let him target the Torres family."

Brandon sighed at her words.

Just then, a servant knocked on the door. "Mr. Brandon Torres, Ms. Wilson, Mrs. Fiona Torres has asked you to join her for breakfast at the main house."

Adeline hesitated for a moment but then nodded and pushed Brandon to the main house's dining room.

"Look, Grandma, how loving they are!" Randy couldn't help but laugh as soon as he saw Adeline pushing Brandon in.

Fiona beamed with satisfaction, her smile widening. "Good! Brandon, find a top-notch fortune teller to pick the best date for their wedding. Let's get them married quickly!"

Adeline pressed her lips together, but before she could speak, Brandon, sitting in his wheelchair, spoke up. "Grandma, I won't marry Adeline. Don't waste your efforts."

Fiona's expression turned stern. "Why not? Adeline promised me that once she sorted out her children's matters, she would marry you! Now that everything is settled, it's time for her to fulfill her promise."

She shot a cold glance at Adeline. "Do you despise Brandon because he's paralyzed? Adeline, you ungrateful person! Brandon broke off his engagement to save you when you were gravely injured. Now that he's disabled, you can't abandon him!"

Adeline bit her lip, unsure of what to say.

She did want to break off the engagement with Brandon. But if she mentioned it now, no matter her reasons, it would seem to others that she was abandoning Brandon because of his paralysis.

But if she didn't break off the engagement, she couldn't disappoint Jasper.

"Grandma," Brandon smiled before Adeline could speak. "Let's forget about the wedding. Adeline isn't ungrateful, and I don't want to use my disability to force her into marriage."

Fiona huffed, rolling her eyes but saying nothing more.

Breakfast was tense and oppressive.

After setting down her fork, Fiona gave Adeline a cold look. "Don't forget what you promised me. I'll give you a week. If you still refuse to marry Brandon, the Torres family will announce to the world that we saved an ingrate!"

With that, Fiona stormed off, slamming her fork down.

After Fiona left, Randy started mocking Brandon. "See? I told you, Adeline is just like any other woman. You thought she was different, but look. Now that you're disabled, she won't keep her promise. Brandon, you're pathetic!"

Brandon gripped the armrests of his wheelchair tightly, his knuckles turning white.

After Randy left, he slowly released his grip, closed his eyes, and spoke softly, "Adeline, take me back."

Adeline pushed Brandon's wheelchair, her heart heavy with conflicting emotions.

God had given her a difficult choice. If Brandon weren't paralyzed, she might have found another way to repay the Torres family for saving her life.

But now, with Brandon disabled, any reason she gave would be overshadowed by the accusation that she was abandoning him.

If she and Jasper hadn't reconciled, she might have married Brandon without hesitation, even if he was disabled. After all, a woman without love in her heart would live the same life no matter whom she married.

But now, she had Jasper in her heart.

Adeline pushed Brandon back to his room, her emotions in turmoil.

Perhaps because of Fiona and Randy's words at breakfast, Brandon went to rest as soon as they got home.

Adeline sat on the living room sofa, flipping through Brandon's medical records and sighing deeply.

Seeing her restlessness, a servant offered to turn on the TV for her. "Ms. Wilson, watch some news to relax."

Adeline nodded absentmindedly, her attention drifting to the TV.

To her surprise, the moment the TV turned on, she saw Jasper's face on the Oceancrest City news.

He was dressed in a black trench coat and sunglasses, exuding an air of cold dominance.

A reporter approached him. "Mr. Foster, we heard you acquired several small and medium-sized businesses in Oceancrest City overnight, cutting off the Phoebe family's supply chain for pharmaceuticals and fragrances. Are you here to compete for resources with the Phoebe and Torres families, or is there another reason for your visit?"

Jasper removed his sunglasses, his gaze icy as he looked into the camera. "I'm here for a woman. That's all I have to say."

With that, he walked away, Ryan hurrying behind him with a suitcase.

"According to reports, Radiance Springs' wealthiest man, Jasper, arrived in Oceancrest City this morning after an overnight journey, causing a storm in the local business community. Many small businesses were acquired overnight. It's said that Jasper came to Oceancrest City for a woman. Who could this woman be, to make someone like Jasper travel so far for her? Our reporters will continue to follow this story."

Adeline sat on the sofa, clutching the remote tightly, her eyes fixed on the screen.

Her heart felt like a chaotic mess.

Jasper had come to Oceancrest City for her, despite her telling him not to worry.

Tears silently fell from her eyes.

Adeline was deeply moved. She grabbed a pen and paper, noting down the numbers of the companies Jasper had acquired.

She had to see him immediately!
