Chapter 465 He Had Been Scheming Against Her from the Very Beginning

"Ms. Wilson, didn't think you'd show up today," Luna sneered as she plopped down in the chair across from Adeline.

Luna, all smug, added, "Honestly, if you hadn't come, I would've had your assistants drag you in. Got a ton of design stuff I need your input on."

Luna cackled, "Adeline, gotta say, your mental game is stronger than I thought. You actually came in on your own."

Adeline smirked, her eyes flicking over Luna's gloating face. "Yeah, my mental game is solid. If it wasn't, you'd be six feet under with Jasper by now."

Luna blinked, then chuckled. "Oh, really?"

She reached out, fiddling with the photos on Adeline's desk. One showed Adeline with Blake, Bennett, and Lauren.

Luna traced Blake's face with her finger. "Jasper's their dad, after all. You wouldn't have the guts."

Adeline's face darkened. She stood up and snatched the photo back. "Hands off!"

Adeline thought, 'Luna doesn't deserve to even look at these photos.'

Luna, unfazed, laughed even harder. "Why so touchy? Think I'm jealous 'cause you had three kids with Jasper?"

"Sure, I'm a bit envious," Luna's eyes gleamed. "But hey, I can have kids too. I'll give Jasper four, just to one-up you."

Adeline couldn't help but laugh at Luna's childish bragging.

Adeline looked up, grinning. "Go ahead, have ten for all I care. Sows pop out litters like that too."

Luna's eyes widened. She didn't expect Adeline to clap back like that.

In Luna's mind, Adeline was a loser who'd just had her hard work snatched away. She should be moping, not throwing shade. But here she was, unfazed.

Luna squinted. Was Adeline really that chill, or just faking it?

Luna chuckled. "For Jasper, I'd be a sow any day."

She leaned back, getting comfy, and looked down at Adeline. "Jasper's done a lot for me."

Luna picked up a pen, twirling it. "Did you know? The international jewelry design competition tomorrow? Jasper set that up just for me."

Adeline's eyebrows shot up. "You're full of it."

The Foster Group was just a participant; the organizer was Jerry from abroad. How could Jasper have set it up for Luna?

"Check it out yourself if you don't believe me," Luna said casually. "Why do you think the competition's in Radiance Springs? Jerry doesn't live there, and the committee's not based there either. This city has never hosted anything like this. Why there?"

Luna's question made Adeline's brow furrow.

She'd been so caught up in prepping her design drafts for the competition that she hadn't even thought about it. Now that Luna mentioned it, it did seem weird. Radiance Springs wasn't exactly the obvious choice for the organizers.

"He did it for me," Luna said, her grin widening at Adeline's confusion. "Jasper wanted me in the competition but didn't want me too far from him. So, he got cozy with Jerry, invested in his other company, and had Jerry push for Radiance Springs."

Luna's mocking smile grew. "Isn't Jasper just the sweetest? All this because I once said that winning an international competition would make me a legit designer. He went all out just for that. I'm really touched."

Luna continued, "When I win tomorrow and become the star of Radiance Springs, I'll start popping out kids for Jasper. A man who loves me this much deserves it, right?"

Under Adeline's darkening gaze, Luna stood up. "I came to chat, but ended up spilling a lot. Anyway, about tomorrow's competition. The speech you gave me to explain the design concept? It's too short. Needs to be at least half an hour."

Luna blinked at Adeline. "Add more to it and polish it up. It's 8:30 now. I need it by 10. Can you handle that?"

Adeline squinted at her, staying silent.

"You got this."Luna replied.

Luna smirked as she left. "I'll be busy. Remember, 10 o'clock. Being in charge is exhausting."

Adeline sat there, watching Luna leave, her eyes narrowing.

As soon as the door closed, she fired up her computer to dig into Jerry and Jasper's connection. Just like Luna said, Jasper had business ties with Jerry.

And all the expenses for bringing the competition to Radiance Springs? Covered by a small overseas company. Tracing it back, it was Jasper's.

Seeing this, Adeline felt like she'd been punched in the gut. Luna was right. Jasper had set this whole thing up for her. But he had to know Luna had zero design skills. If he went to such lengths to bring the competition here for Luna, he'd definitely rig it for her to win.

A chilling thought crept into Adeline's mind. She closed her eyes, her hand shaking on the mouse.

From the start, Jasper had been playing her. He used the agreement to pressure her, made her lead the team, then found a way to stick Luna in her team. Right before the competition, he had Luna stir up trouble, and at the last minute, replaced her with Luna as the team leader. That way, Luna could steal the spotlight.

Even though it was summer, Adeline felt a cold chill in her office. Jasper had been scheming against her all along!
