Chapter 248: Have You Fallen in Love With Adeline?
It was so awkward in the living room that people found it hard to breathe.
Adeline took a deep breath and looked Jasper in the eye. "I have to admit that I misunderstood you."
"But..." Adeline lifted her gaze. "It's not my fault. These people were once under your command, weren't they?"
Jasper nodded, "Indeed. But Adeline, that's not what I mean."
Jasper's dark eyes fixed on her. "I appreciate your concern for Bennett and Lauren as their foster mother. But they belong to me and Stella. You have no right to question us as parents."
With a cold smile, he added, "Such as this misunderstanding. Even if those people protecting Molly were arranged by me, what right do you and Brandon, as outsiders, have to come after me under the guise of acting in the best interest of my children?"
Adeline was stunned.
Every joint in her body stiffened, and her blood seemed to freeze at Jasper's every word, each one feeling like a sharp needle piercing her heart.
Bennett and Lauren were her children.
Yet here she was, being looked down upon by Jasper.
To outsiders, she, the biological mother, was just the foster mother who had once taken the children.
What right did she have to question the biological parents of the children?
Adeline's eyes gradually dimmed, her face turning pale.
With a look of loss and sadness, she made Jasper's brow furrow deeply.
Jasper darkened his gaze and sighed lightly. "I know you care about the children, so let's not let this happen again."
Adeline closed her eyes and nodded bitterly.
Seeing her like this, Jasper didn't want to continue the topic.
He coughed lightly, his fist against his chin. "I've reviewed the documents you organized this morning. Despite not feeling well, your work was well-organized and logical. You're a great employee. As your boss, I hope you can focus on work during this period."
Jasper looked up at her, "Soon, Bennett and Lauren will move back to Blue Bay. If you miss them, you can visit them there."
Adeline stiffened her body slightly.
She bit her lip, trying to say something, but in the end, she remained silent.
With a bitter smile, Adeline said, "Okay."
If Jasper said so, she could say no more.
Continuing to argue with him would only lead to him using the fact that he and Stella were Bennett and Lauren's biological parents to suppress her.
Adeline's quick agreement caught Jasper off guard.
After a moment of silence, Jasper stood up. "I've rescheduled your meeting for tomorrow. Get some rest tonight. I don't want to see you collapsing at work again."
After saying that, he turned and left, with the door closed behind him.
Adeline sat on the sofa, staring at the closed door, her mind filled with thoughts.
Leaving Willowcrest Terrace, Jasper didn't go straight home.
He had Ryan arrange a dinner with Nathan at the most upscale restaurant in Denver.
"I wasn't expecting your invitation." Sitting in the private room, Nathan took a sip of his drink in a good mood. "Finally, acting like a son."
Jasper sneered, "Let's not rush to praise me."
Jasper coldly tossed a few photos taken by Brandon's people onto the table, "If I recall right, you said you needed them to do something for you when you asked. "So, may I ask, do you know what they did abroad?"
Nathan furrowed his brow as he picked up the photos.
Indeed, they were the bodyguards he had requested from Jasper.
"I don't know," Nathan replied, placing the photos back. "I did ask you for these people. But in my understanding, once you gave them to me, they were at my disposal."
Nathan shifted into a more comfortable position, reclining slightly, and looked coldly at Jasper. "My friend needed my help, so I loaned these people to him. What's the problem?"
Jasper poured a glass of wine with a cold and proud demeanor, gently swirling the red wine in the glass and exuding an air of cold pride. "Which friend? Morris?"
Nathan shot him a cold glance but remained silent.
"That's it." Jasper laughed icily. "So, Nathan, do you know what Morris sent them to do?"
Nathan paused and looked up at him.
Under Nathan's probing gaze, Jasper elegantly took a sip of wine. "He sent them to protect Molly."
Nathan frowned. Although he didn't know why Morris wanted to protect Molly, he still sneered. "Isn't Molly your ex-fiancée? What's wrong with protecting her?"
"Clearly, you know nothing about the Foster family. But if you had bothered to ask, you would have known why Molly was exiled abroad and could never return in this lifetime." Jasper coldly set down his wine glass, the clink as the glass base met the table echoing crisply.
Jasper's eyes were icy, "Nathan, you say you care for your grandchildren, Bennett and Lauren. But you don't know that Molly nearly cost your grandchildren their lives several times."
Nathan suddenly changed his expression!
He truly had no idea about this!
"So..." Nathan looked at Jasper in a daze. "Why did Morris use my men to protect her? Maybe the Quinn family has a connection with Molly. Or perhaps the Quinn family is behind Molly?"
Nathan looked at Jasper in a daze, "Why did Morris use my men to protect her?"
"Maybe the Quinn family has a connection with Molly."
"Or perhaps the Quinn family is behind Molly?"
Jasper chuckled, placing his glass down, "You didn't know any of this, did you?"
Nathan's expression darkened.
He had spent years traveling abroad, never staying in one place for long.
His friendship with Morris went way back to their early days, which was why they remained friends.
However, he had no clue what Morris was doing.
"It seems you didn't know." Jasper laughed coldly. "Molly nearly killed Adeline and my children several times. And now, the Quinn family has some unclear connection with Molly. Moreover, Morris specifically borrowed the Foster family's men from you to protect Molly."
Jasper laughed coldly, "Molly nearly killed Adeline and my children several times."
"And now, the Quinn family has some unclear connection with Molly."
"Moreover, Morris specifically borrowed the Foster family's men from you to protect Molly."
Nathan's face looked worse than the wall behind him.
Jasper picked up his glass and lightly tapped it against Nathan's glass. "So, since you know nothing, don't get involved in my fight with the Quinn family. And don't keep harassing Adeline on behalf of the Quinn family. After all, she is Bennett and Lauren's foster mother. And you, apart from being Bennett and Lauren's biological grandfather, are nothing."
Jasper raised his glass, took a sip of the red wine, and then stood up. "I've said what I needed to say. Take your time, Mr. Foster."
Nathan clenched his jaw, watching Jasper's retreating figure. "After all this, you're standing up for Adeline because I slapped her yesterday, aren't you?"
Nathan snorted, "Have you fallen in love with Adeline?"
