Chapter 527 He Really Knows How to Make Excuses!

Adeline lifted her head and looked at Scott standing in front of her. His white hair gave him a dignified and noble look, but there was a twisted compassion in his eyes.

Who would've thought that this big shot in the medical world would deliberately mess up just to cause Lucas and Caroline's deaths, all to get Evelyn?

Scott was so disgusting it made Adeline want to puke. But no matter how much she hated him, she had to play along for now.

Adeline bit her lip, looking weakly at Scott, who was in his fifties. "Dr. Smith, I think we can still talk this out."

She moved her bound hands and feet. "Whatever you want, I can give it to you."

Scott adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, his smile cold and evil. "What I want, I already have. For years, Evelyn's parents looked down on me because of my age, and I couldn't be with her. But now, I'm an internationally renowned authority in medicine. Whatever I say is taken as gospel, and no one dares to question me."

As he spoke, Scott curled his lips and looked at Adeline's pale face. "What do you have to make a deal?"

He lowered his head and continued writing in his folder. "I just said, if my diagnosis shows you're mentally ill, no one, not even Evelyn, will believe you. I can easily handle your threats, so why should I negotiate with you? Do you think I'm stupid?"

Scott's gaze fell on Adeline's intertwined hands. Her nails had dug into her flesh from tension and despair, leaving her hands a bloody mess.

Scott smirked, took out his phone, and snapped a picture of her hands. "This is proof of your mental instability."

Adeline froze, instinctively lowering her head to see her hands covered in blood.

She closed her eyes in despair. These wounds, caused by her helplessness when she learned Scott was going to diagnose her, had now become evidence of her supposed mental instability.

Scott said, "If it weren't for the time needed for consultation, I'd go out right now and tell Mr. Foster the results."

After taking the photo, Scott sighed lightly, his eyes coldly glancing at Adeline. "Do you know why you lost? Arrogance. Do you think Luna forced me to issue that terminal illness certificate just because she knew about my connection with Lucas and Caroline like you?"

Adeline lifted her head, staring blankly at Scott, her voice hoarse. "Isn't that the case?"

If Luna didn't have evidence of Scott's involvement in Lucas and Caroline's deaths, why would Scott help her?

"Yes and no," Scott laughed coldly. "Do you think I didn't save Lucas and Caroline after their accident? You're wrong. I was the planner, and Luna was the participant."

These words made Adeline's mind go blank.

So, Lucas and Caroline's deaths were planned by Luna and Scott together! From the start, Scott and Luna were allies.

No matter how hard Adeline tried, she couldn't make these two former accomplices turn against each other.

She bit her lip, feeling layers of despair wash over her heart.

If Adeline couldn't get Scott to admit that the diagnosis he gave Luna was fake, she couldn't bring Luna down, and she couldn't make Jasper see Luna's true colors! She couldn't expose Molly, who had been lurking in the shadows, and she couldn't bring Bennett and Sebastian back to her side.

Even though Adeline and Vikram had meticulously uncovered Scott's deepest fears, it now seemed all their efforts were in vain.

Scott and Luna were in cahoots. From the beginning, this was an unbreakable plan. Adeline couldn't crack it.

As he saw Adeline's pupils gradually dilate and the light in her eyes dim, Scott laughed triumphantly, got up, and put away the folder.

"I heard Radiance Springs' mental hospital is heavily guarded, and people inside can't escape. Miss Wilson, good luck," Scott said.

With that, he opened the door and left.

Adeline lay on the bed.

Vaguely, she heard Scott outside talking to Jasper in a very serious tone about how severe her condition was.

"Although she seems normal now, if she has an episode, she could do more than just beat her own son. Throwing the kids off the roof or attacking people with a knife is entirely possible. Mr. Foster, you see; I have many examples of patients with similar conditions," Scott said.

Adeline couldn't hear what Scott said next.

She couldn't hear Jasper's deep sigh, nor Luna's fake regretful remarks.

Adeline was extremely deliberate.

Once, Molly had been locked in that mental hospital. So had Mia and Thomas.

Adeline had visited others in the mental hospital several times. But she never expected that this time, the one going in would be her. The one sending her in was Jasper. Her heart began to ache.

Adeline didn't know how long it had been when the voices in the hallway vanished.

She heard Jasper's footsteps coming towards the bedroom, making her heart pound with fear.

Finally, the door opened.

Standing at the door, Jasper glanced at Adeline lying on the bed and sighed deeply.

He walked over and sat on the edge of her bed, his eyes filled with worry and sadness, even a bit of reluctance. "Adeline, I know the news of Bennett and Sebastian's passing hit you hard, but I didn't expect..."

Jasper didn't expect that Bennett and Sebastian's deaths would bring her such a huge shock and stimulus.

Adeline had always hidden her grief well. If it weren't for Blake impulsively revealing the truth after being drawn blood this time, Jasper might never have known, right?

But it was better to find out sooner than to wait until Adeline left Radiance Springs with the kids and then she had an episode.

If Adeline really lost her mind and started killing like those people in the videos Dr. Smith showed, she might feel even worse when she regained her senses, right?

Jasper's words made Adeline lift her head.

He really knew how to find excuses! He said Adeline went insane because of Bennett and Sebastian's deaths!

Adeline lifted her head, her hair disheveled from the previous struggle, her hands and feet bound, unable to tidy up.

From a distance, she indeed looked like a madwoman.

Through the gaps in her hair, Adeline coldly stared at him. "What if I said Bennett and Sebastian aren't dead?"
