Chapter 715 Don't Give Up on Me, Okay

Jasper's words sent a ripple through the crowd below.

Brandon, sitting in his wheelchair, bit his lip. His usually gentle voice now carried a rare edge of anger.

"Mr. Foster, you can't just throw around accusations without proof! What kind of scheme did I use to make Adeline marry me?"

Every word he spoke was laced with pain, "You can't just take my fiancée away in public and slander me because I'm now disabled!"

Brandon's words made Adeline, who was held tightly by Jasper, soften inside.

Brandon was already a target of ridicule because of his disability. If he were humiliated in such a setting... She bit her lip and struggled desperately to break free from Jasper's grip.

He held her so tightly that she even bit his arm.

Jasper was barely standing on the stage, relying on medication to keep himself upright.

Holding Adeline had already drained almost all his strength. When she bit him, the pain forced him to let her go.

Adeline broke free from his embrace and rushed to Brandon's side without looking back, gripping his wheelchair tightly.

She looked up at him, her gaze cold, her words even colder and devoid of any emotion.

"Jasper! Have you had enough? If you're sick, get treatment! If you're tired, go rest. Let Ryan schedule a hospital appointment for you. Stop acting crazy here!"

She bit her lip and glared at him.

"Even now, with things in such a mess, do you still not understand where you went wrong?"

Jasper stood there, stunned, his eyes fixed on Adeline, his voice hoarse.

"Where did I go wrong? After I arrived in Oceancrest City, I made every effort to locate you and take you away. Was that wrong?"

To Adeline, Jasper's words sounded like a joke.

A very ridiculous joke!

Jasper claimed he had been looking for her!

He said he did everything to bring her home?

Was he dreaming, or was she?

She had waited for him at the Torres Mansion for over ten days.

What she got was constant news of him targeting the Phoebe family.

His eyes were so blinded by hatred for the Phoebe family that he couldn't even spare a moment to look for her!

And now, he said he had been looking for her, wishing to bring her home.

"Jasper, do you think I'm still as gullible as before? That I'll believe any excuse you make?"

Adeline took a deep breath and laughed self-deprecatingly, "Maybe I loved you too much before, indulged you too much, so you think... I'm still the same, easily manipulated by you?"

Her words left Jasper momentarily dazed.

After a while, he took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay composed, "That's not what I meant, Adeline. You and I were both deceived by Brandon's schemes."

Adeline laughed coldly again, "Are you implying that it was Brandon who prevented you from seeing me, that he ruined our relationship?"

Jasper paused, then nodded, "It does have something to do with him."

Adeline closed her eyes, her hands silently clenching into fists at her sides.

The last bit of warmth she had for Jasper vanished instantly.

Even now, he couldn't see his own mistakes and kept blaming Brandon!

During this time, she knew better than anyone what Brandon had done.

If it weren't for Brandon repeatedly urging her to find Jasper, if it weren't for Brandon helping her contact him time and again. She wouldn't have realized how unimportant she was to Jasper!

And now, he was blaming everything on Brandon again.

"Jasper, you're always like this. Whether in the past or now. In your eyes, all the wrongs are done by others, and you have nothing to do with them. You can never face your own mistakes!"

With that, Adeline took a deep breath, ignoring Jasper, and picked up the microphone, looking at the still murmuring crowd below.

"Everyone, I'm sorry you had to witness this. This Mr. Foster is my ex-husband. I did give birth to three children for him, but in the past six years, the time he spent with the children can be counted on one hand. I was saved by Brandon when I fell into the water, and that incident was also related to Mr. Foster. As you can see, he is a stubborn man who never admits his mistakes. So, I won't look back. Tonight, I'm going to get engaged to Brandon..."

"Adeline."

Before Adeline could finish her sentence, Jasper's deep voice sounded again from behind her.

He looked at her back with a pained expression, his eyes fixed on the delicate butterfly bones outlined by her navy blue dress.

"What do I have to do for you to give me a chance to explain?"

Hearing Jasper's voice behind her, Adeline sniffed, her eyes stinging.

Hadn't she given him enough chances?

It was because she had given him too many chances that he never learned to cherish them!

Without turning back, she continued, "Thank you all for taking the time to attend my engagement with Brandon..."

Her indifference and coldness made Jasper feel as though his chest was constricted, the urge to express his frustration overwhelming him, yet he forced it down to maintain his composure.

But he could clearly feel his strength gradually fading.

The immense sorrow enveloped his heart, and the medication that had been keeping him standing was losing its effect.

His head throbbed, and every cell in his body screamed for rest.

But he knew he couldn't rest.

At least, not now!

Jasper took a deep breath, disregarding his pride and dignity, and rushed forward, grasping Adeline's arm with a look of earnest desperation.

The tall, imposing Jasper reached out in a moment of vulnerability.

He looked up, his deep eyes now bloodshot, with a hint of pleading in his gaze.

"Adeline." His voice was hoarse, his bloodshot eyes fixed on her. "I was wrong. You said I never face my mistakes, but now, I'm apologizing to you. I'm sorry for everything I did to hurt you."

He let go of all his pride and dignity, pathetically clutching her dress. "Please don't give up on me, okay?"
