Chapter 39 Have You Fallen for Her?

This taste! It's unmistakably familiar!

His work often involved socializing, and when they were together before, he would always come home drunk.

Whenever he got drunk, Adeline would cook a bowl of ginger soup for him.

She liked to add a special spice to the ginger soup, giving it a unique flavor.

Jasper hadn't tasted her ginger soup in six years.

But now, this ginger soup Adeline made tasted just like the one from six years ago.

Jasper immediately got out of bed and hurried downstairs.

In the kitchen downstairs, Adeline was cooking porridge for Lauren.

She was absorbed in her task and didn't notice the hurried footsteps behind her.

When she realized his presence, Jasper was already standing behind her.

He forcefully turned her around and gripped her chin with his large hand. A dangerous aura was emanating from his hawk-like eyes. "Who taught you to make ginger soup?"

Adeline was startled. She wanted to resist but was held even closer by him.

Finally, she looked up at his face and said, "No one taught me. I made it myself."

"That's impossible." The man's deep voice carried a hoarseness from his hangover. "The taste is different. Who taught you? Are you in contact with Adeline? Did Adeline send you here?"

The more he spoke, the more he felt that his inference was correct.

A renowned jewelry designer, who had returned from Denver after being abroad, willingly became Lauren's exclusive housemaid at Blue Bay.

She treated Lauren with the same importance as her own daughter.

The decoration in her house matched Adeline's style, and even the taste of ginger soup was exactly the same as Adeline's!

If it weren't for the fact that she looked at him differently from Adeline, he would even suspect that she was Adeline after a makeover and voice change!

But he knew very well that she wasn't.

Adeline looked at him with love and radiance in her eyes.

This Adeline's gaze, however, was more like that of a stranger.

Such a gaze could never be hers.

Jasper's piercing gaze bore into Adeline's face.

Adeline felt a bit panicked.

She had never expected that a bowl of ginger soup would make Jasper suspect her!

She bit her lip, steadied herself, and met his gaze fearlessly. "Mr. Foster, I don't know what you're talking about. No one taught me this ginger soup. I learned it from a recipe I saw online."

She tried to use a calm tone to make herself appear unruffled. "I can't even remember who I learned it from, but I've seen all of Adeline's Facebook posts. Maybe she shared it too."

Jasper's hand, which was holding her chin, stiffened.

Yes.

Adeline used to be someone who liked to share her life.

Thinking of this, he released Adeline with disgust.

His ink-black eyes became cold. "I almost forgot you're someone who likes to imitate my wife."

He remembered it.

This woman named Adeline Wilson had been trying to attract his attention from the beginning by imitating his wife.

And now, this bowl of ginger soup was just a part of her scheme.

He looked at her coldly again. "I hope you can be yourself and stop trying to be a substitute for my wife. No one can replace her."

After speaking, he turned and walked away.

For some unknown reason, Adeline could sense a trace of loneliness in his departure.

She forced a bitter smile, shook her head, and drove away all her chaotic thoughts.

How could he be lonely?

It had been her who had been lonely all these years.

She turned her head and continued cooking porridge for Lauren.

Unintentionally, she caught a glimpse of the reflection of her face on the metal stove.

At this moment, her delicate features and petite face made her look flawlessly beautiful.

But she could never find her previous happiness again.

In the following days, Adeline tried her best to minimize her presence in front of Jasper.

First, because of what happened before, she could not fake being enthusiastic about approaching Jasper.

Second, because Jasper had begun to suspect her relationship with Adeline, she had to make him ignore her as much as possible.

In the process, everyone in the villa noticed her deliberate distance from Jasper.

Even the old housekeeper started to educate her.

"Adeline, remember that you are a servant. You're here to serve Mr. Foster. You can't have a grim face every day."

"You could easily get dismissed. I've been a servant in Blue Bay for so many years, and I've never seen any servant be so indifferent toward the master."

"Adeline, don't think that taking care of Miss Lauren is something only you can do."

Adeline didn't know how many of these people were sent by Jasper to educate her, but regardless of what others said, she didn't want to change at all.

Lauren noticed that something wasn't right. She asked Bennett what was going on with Mommy.

Bennett's response was, "It's probably because of what happened last time. Mommy realized that it's not easy to break up the relationship between scumbag and bitch, so she has some negative emotions and feels a bit despondent. Don't worry, it'll be fine after a while. Women's emotions come and go quickly."

But what Bennett didn't expect was that Adeline's mood continued to be like this for a whole week.

During this week, she treated Jasper like air every day.

Except when she had to speak to him, Adeline couldn't be bothered to say a word to Jasper.

She annoyed a lot of people.

Sitting in the study, Jasper tried to focus on the documents in front of him, but all he saw was Adeline's expressionless face.

He couldn't concentrate at all.

She had been doing her job well every day and taking good care of Lauren.

But her expression would instantly change whenever he appeared!

Lauren even asked him if he had done something to upset her.

When did he upset her?

She was the one who upset him!

And he was the owner here. She was just a servant. Even if he did something that made her unhappy, she should endure it!

How dare she blatantly ignore him like this?

Was she plotting something against him?

Should he continue the game of cat and mouse or let her go?

For the first time in his life, Jasper was treated like this by someone, and the more he thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt.

Finally, he picked up the phone and dialed Ryan's number. "Tell Adeline to make me a cup of coffee and bring it up."

Ryan remained silent for a moment on the other end of the phone. "Sir, you have already had two cups of coffee tonight. Are you sure you want more?'"

"Then make tea!" Jasper gritted his teeth coldly. "She can't just stand around idle!"

So what if she doesn't want to talk to him?

He will push her until she speaks to him willingly!
