Chapter 384 Adeline Did It on Purpose!

Listening to Luna's voice as she called Jasper, Adeline understood why Anne had been burned.

It was clear that Timothy hadn't listened to her and had secretly discussed with Anne and Robert about getting rid of Luna, and Luna had overheard them.

Timothy and Robert, both men, posed a greater challenge to confront, and even if they were targeted, the effect would be insignificant.

But Anne was different, Anne was the only woman among Timothy, Anne, and Robert, , she held a unique position. Both Robert and Timothy had feelings for her, and targeting. Targeting Anne would undoubtedly make all three of them uncomfortable.

Adeline narrowed her eyes in contemplation. This Luna was much smarter than she had imagined.

Less than three minutes after Luna hung up the phone, the door to the design department office was pushed open.

Jasper, looking somewhat anxious, walked in and quickly approached Luna, scrutinizing her carefully.

After confirming that Luna had only been splashed with hot coffee on her chest, Jasper let out a slight sigh of relief and looked at Luna. "What exactly happened?" he asked.

Luna bit her lip, glanced cautiously at Adeline, and then hesitantly began to speak."Maybe I'm just not likable," she said, her voice tinged with self-deprecation.

"I am acutely aware of my own inadequacies and that my continued presence here is due to your authority, Jasper. Thus, I am eager to contribute more to my colleagues so that everyone will perceive me I am not merely idling away my time."

She sniffled, her voice tinged with a nasal tone. ""Just now, while bringing coffee to Lucia, I may have been overly anxious. When Anne made a sound, I lost my grip, causing the coffee to spill."

She lowered her head, her voice full of dejection. "I really can't do anything right."

Luna's words completely absolved Anne of any responsibility in the matter.

A female colleague nearby finally couldn't stand it anymore. She stood up and said, "Ms. Jones, as Mr. Foster's girlfriend, I know you don't want to cause trouble for yourself or make things difficult for Mr. Foster. But you can't take all the responsibility on yourself!

"It was clearly Anne who deliberately made a loud noise to scare you when you walked by her. How can you say it was because you were too nervous to hold the coffee cup steadily?"

As she spoke, another male colleague quickly chimed in, "Exactly! I was in the midst of designing when Anne's loud noise abruptly disrupted my train of thought!  She did it on purpose!"

Jasper narrowed his eyes slightly, growing impatient.

Luna's face turned pale. "Don't talk nonsense!" she exclaimed.

She quickly grabbed Jasper's hand and insisted, "Jasper, don't listen to them. It really was my fault.

"And the coffee stain on me is just a small spot. The remaining coffee spilled all over Anne, and she was quite seriously injured. It was certainly not intentional.“

Hearing this, the colleagues who had spoken up for Luna felt even more that Luna was kind and gentle. "Anne deserved it!" they stressed.

"Ms. Jones, why are you so kind, still speaking up for Anne?" one asked.

Another added, "Timothy, Anne, and Robert are all plotting to get rid of you, yet you still consider their feelings."

Jasper furrowed his brow at their words and glanced at Adeline, his voice cold. "Is what they're saying true?"

"It's not true, Jasper," Luna said, biting her lip and instinctively tugged at Jasper's sleeve. "Don't argue with Miss Wilson because of me. It's not worth it."

"How is it not worth it?" Luna's words made Jasper's voice instantly turn cold. "Do you know how important you are to me right now!"

Fortunately, Luna had only been splashed with a little coffee and wasn't seriously burned.

Luna's health was already poor, and the doctor had said she only had a year left to live.

Donating her bone marrow to Blake was a very risky decision she had made, so she needed to be in good health for the transplant.

If something had happened to her today, what would become of Blake's condition? Would Blake be able to wait a bit longer?

Thinking of this, Jasper looked up, his gaze cold as he stared at Adeline. "Are your assistants planning to get rid of Luna? Are they deliberately targeting her, trying to scare her?"

Adeline sneered. Luna had been deliberately portraying herself as the victim, taking on all the blame that wasn't hers. Her goal was to make the onlookers feel compelled to speak up for her.

Although Luna hadn't said anything bad about Timothy, Anne, and Robert, she had already informed Jasper of their misdeedswhile earning a reputation for being kind, gentle, and virtuous.

Jasper demanded, "Answer me!"

Seeing Adeline coldly staring at Luna without speaking, Jasper frowned, worried that Adeline might misunderstand her. He quickly stepped in front of Luna, blocking her from Adeline's view. Then he questioned, "What do you plan to do with your three assistants?"

Adeline looked up, glancing over Jasper's shoulder at Luna, who was standing behind him. "Ms. Jones, how do you think I should handle the three of them?" "

Standing behind Jasper, Luna's hands clenched slightly at her sides.

Adeline had thrown the question back at her. Of course, she wanted Timothy, Anne, and Robert to be fired! But she had just pretended to be kind and unwilling to pursue the matter. Saying they should be severely punished wouldn't be appropriate. But if they weren't severely punished, wouldn't she have suffered in vain?

Adeline wasn't easy to deal with, directly pushing the question back to her.

Luna remained silent for a long time before softly raising her eyes, her voice delicate. "I think they probably didn't do it on purpose. Even if they did, it was because they were young and impulsive, influenced by someone else."

She insinuated at something, and the people in the office suddenly realized.

Robert, Timothy, and Anne—one was just eighteen, newly an adult, and the other two were fresh graduates starting their first jobs.

If someone hadn't been behind it, how would they have thought to bully a newcomer?

The crowd began to murmur again.

Timothy, Anne, and Robert were all Adeline's assistants. In the entire design department, they often ignored Lucia's instructions, except for Adeline's.

Timothy had been in Adeline's office that morning. And there had been a brief conflict between Adeline and Luna earlier.

Adeline narrowed her eyes, ignoring the murmurs, and continued to look at Luna. "Ms. Jones still hasn't said how to resolve this. Ms. Jones, are you too embarrassed to say it? Then I'll say it for you."

Adeline raised her voice, "Although this incident was the fault of my three assistants, Ms. Jones is kind, gentle, and virtuous. She certainly wouldn't want Mr. Foster to fire employees on her first day at work. Especially not three assistants who made significant contributions to the last jewelry design project."

After speaking, she raised an eyebrow subtly mocking and looked back at Luna."Ms. Jones, don't you agree?"

Luna bit her lip in frustration, glaring at Adeline!

Adeline was deliberately following her lead, making it impossible for her to demand their dismissal!

Even though she was furious inside, Luna could only smile gently on the surface. "Miss Wilson is right. I just started at the company today. How could I let Jasper fire long-time employees for my sake? I'm just an insignificant newcomer. But,.."

Before Luna could finish, Jasper coldly smirked and pulled her into his arms. "What if I insist on firing them?" he taunted Adeline.
