Chapter 829 No Brains
Adeline felt like she was burning up.
After pulling Jasper back into the car, she quickly shrugged off the trench coat she had wrapped around herself.
Jasper squinted, his gaze falling on her smooth neck and delicate collarbone.
"Jasper, don't go. I won't let you leave."
Adeline's eyes were misty, looking at him with a dazed expression. "Kiss me, please?"
"I miss you."
Jasper's body froze.
He knew something was off with Adeline.
When she was sober, even if he was right next to her, she would keep her distance, maintaining a cold and rational demeanor.
She was always so logical and calm, aware of the deep-seated feud between their families that forbade them from being together.
Why would she say something like this now?
Jasper furrowed his brows, holding down Adeline's restless hands on his chest. "Adeline, calm down."
"I'm taking you to the hospital."
Adeline pouted, "Why the hospital?"
She tugged at his collar, leaning close to his ear. "You're right here. Why would I need a hospital?"
"Or do you think you can't satisfy me?"
That one sentence ignited a fire in Jasper's heart.
He pulled Adeline close, pressing her tightly against him.
Jasper's voice was hoarse. "Are you sure this is what you want?"
Adeline nodded.
She hadn't completely lost her mind.
But she knew she was under the influence of something, part drug, part genuine emotion.
She figured since she wasn't in her right mind, she could let loose just this once.
She missed Jasper too much.
Missed the feeling of being in his arms.
Just once, just this once.
Adeline wrapped her arms around Jasper's neck and kissed him hard. "I'm sure."
When she was sober, she couldn't follow her heart. Could she not do so now?
Besides, Jasper had just saved her life again.
Jasper's eyes narrowed, a deep desire flashing in them.
He leaned down, kissing her lips, her jaw, her neck, her collarbone, moving lower and lower.
The black sports car in the corner outside the abandoned warehouse began to rock wildly.
When Oliver arrived with his team, Ryan's accompanying doctor had already bandaged Oscar's wounds and was dealing with Isaiah's body.
Jumping out of the car, Oliver rushed to Ryan's side.
"How's it going?"
He had been at home video chatting with Mia and Joseph when he received several photos of Adeline. He immediately tried calling her, but no one answered.
He knew something had happened to Adeline.
So Oliver quickly gathered his men, found Oscar's wrecked car and Adeline's phone, and tracked them here using road surveillance.
But Jasper had beaten him to it.
"It's handled."
Ryan shrugged, pointing to Isaiah's body and then to Oscar.
"Mr. Wheeler and madam are safe."
"But Mr. Foster was too impulsive and killed their leader."
"Otherwise, we could've gotten some important information."
He handed Isaiah's phone to Oliver. "Mr. Foster said to give this to you."
Oliver frowned.
He turned on Isaiah's phone.
Messages flooded in instantly.
All from one number.
"Did you get her?"
"Do as I said. Make sure she suffers before you kill her!"
"Five million dollars. You better get it done!"
Reading these messages, Oliver felt his blood pressure rising.
He squinted and dialed the number back.
The person on the other end picked up quickly.
"What's going on? Why didn't you respond? Why was your phone off?"
"I brought you all the way from Everglade City for this, and you disappear on me?"
"What's Adeline's status? How many men have humiliated her?"
"If necessary, record a video, got it?"
Hearing the familiar female voice, Oliver's grip on the phone tightened, his knuckles turning white.
"Got it."
The man's voice made Daisy frown.
Was it her imagination?
Why did this man's voice sound different from Isaiah's, and somewhat familiar?
"Daisy."
Oliver's voice, filled with anger, came through the phone.
"The Phoebe family took care of you for over twenty years, and this is how you repay their daughter?"
"Even a traitor would be better than you!"
Oliver's words left Daisy stunned.
Her phone slipped from her hand.
Oliver's voice continued on the phone.
"I won't let tonight's events slide."
"Whatever you planned for Adeline, I'll make sure you experience it yourself."
"Otherwise, I'm not Adeline's brother!"
With that, Oliver hung up.
He handed the phone to his men for evidence and, still fuming, kicked a nearby car hard.
The car alarm blared.
Oliver bit his lip.
He couldn't believe Daisy had the audacity to target Adeline right under the Phoebe family's nose!
After venting his anger, Oliver turned to Ryan. "Where did Jasper take Adeline?"
Ryan was silent for a moment before pointing to the still-moving black sports car in the corner.
"Mrs. Foster seems to have been drugged."
Oliver glanced over, his blood pressure spiking again.
He quickly walked over.
"If she's drugged, she needs a hospital! What is Jasper doing?"
Ryan stopped him. "Mr. Foster was forced."
"If you go now, Mrs. Foster will be embarrassed."
Oliver rolled his eyes, speechless.
Taking a deep breath, he waved Ryan off.
"Find a way to get them a room."
With that, Oliver got back into his car and drove off with his team.
As the car started, Oliver glanced back at Adeline and Jasper's car, sighing.
Adeline was completely under Jasper's control.
But maybe that was a good thing.
Clementine would soon be reunited with them.
The Torres Mansion.
Daisy trembled as she picked up her fallen phone, trying to remove the SIM card.
She wanted to break it, but her hands were shaking too much from fear.
Just then, the door opened, and Brandon stood there.
He looked down at Daisy, who was kneeling on the floor.
"What are you doing?"
Daisy looked up, seeing Brandon, and started crying.
"Brandon, Oliver found out about my plan. What do I do?"
Brandon frowned. "What plan?"
Daisy carefully explained how she had Howard force Adeline into a blind date and then had Isaiah hurt Adeline under the pretense of dealing with Oscar.
Brandon's face darkened, and he slapped her hard.
"Idiot!"
Daisy clutched her face, crying. "Brandon, I know I was wrong."
"But what do we do now?"
"We can't let Howard live much longer."
Brandon narrowed his eyes. "After the wedding, we need to deal with him. If he finds out what we've been up to, we're both done for."
Daisy bit her lip.
"What about the money Adeline has?"
"Find a way to make Howard force her to hand it over before the wedding."
