Chapter 224 The Deceased Luna Is Not The Miss of Evelyn's Family
Chaos reigned in the abandoned factory.
David directed his men to tie up Gabriel while casting a glance at the man holding Adeline.
His tall figure strode purposefully towards the factory's exit.
David furrowed his brow. "Jasper, are you just going to leave like this?"
The man's steps halted. "Is there something else?"
David chuckled lightly, lit a cigarette, and cheekily remarked, "I'm saying you've helped me greatly by capturing Gabriel. Aren't you going to ask for something in return?"
"No need."
Jasper took a deep breath, glanced down at the trembling woman in his arms. "I'm just here for her."
With that, Jasper lifted his leg and continued walking toward the factory's exit.
Watching his departing figure, David took a hard drag of his cigarette, then turned to his sidekick. "He just said that man is an employee of his company, right?"
The henchman nodded quickly. "Yes."
"Does he have a wife?"
"He does, they've been married for many years."
David blew smoke rings and chuckled, "Interesting."
Adeline was taken to the hospital by Jasper.
"It's nothing serious, Adeline was just intoxicated from alcohol."
"After being drenched in alcohol, she caught a slight cold, and the abrasions on her legs from the alcohol caused some inflammation.
The doctor examined Adeline from head to toe. "I'll put her on a drip, she'll be fine once she wakes up."
Upon finishing the examination, the doctor scolded Jasper with a glare, "Young people may enjoy thrills, but going overboard is not without consequences.
"If something were to happen, you'd be responsible for her for life!"
Jasper pursed his lips, chuckled softly, "If something were to happen to her..."
"Jasper, how is Adeline?" The woman's voice abruptly interrupted their conversation.
Jasper looked up to see Stella standing before him in a red coat, black boots, her makeup meticulously done to perfection.
It was evident she had dressed up intentionally.
A hint of coldness crept into the man's lips.
When he couldn't reach Adeline earlier, Stella had been by his side, suggesting Adeline might have been out drinking with Linda and couldn't answer the phone.
Stella had even come up with many excuses for Adeline.
It wasn't until Ryan tracked down Linda and found her completely drunk at home that the severity of the situation became uncontrollable.
Now, Stella knew Adeline was in trouble, yet she still came after dressing up.
Although he knew Stella and Adeline's relationship had always been strained.
At this moment, every move Stella made instinctively repulsed him.
"There's nothing wrong."
Seeing Jasper's silence in response to Stella's question, the doctor coughed lightly, easing the tension, "She was just intoxicated and drenched in alcohol.
"She'll be fine once she wakes up."
Stella subconsciously glanced at Adeline lying on the bed, the man's coat wrapped around her causing a sting in her eyes.
"Is that... all?
"She didn't sustain any other injuries?"
The doctor shook his head. "No."
"You seem quite eager for Adeline to have more injuries?"
Jasper gave Stella a cold glance, his voice icy. "Because of your excessive optimism, you've stopped me from finding her several times, almost leading to her ruin by others.
"But you seem to have no remorse, even expecting her to suffer more."
A hint of coldness curled at the man's lips. "Stella, even if you don't like Adeline, has she ever harmed you?"
Stella hesitated, biting her lip with a touch of grievance. "Jasper, you've misunderstood me.
"I'm just worried about her..."
She sniffled, her voice tinged with tears. "After all, I'm a local, and I've heard how ruthless Gabriel can be."
"You said on the phone that Adeline was taken by Gabriel, I'm worried about her."
"I'm worried the doctor's examination wasn't thorough enough. I fear Adeline might have hidden injuries."
The woman's words made the doctor sigh, "I've checked thoroughly, she only has these minor injuries."
The doctor rubbed his chin. "However, it's strange that the ruthless Gabriel only caused her these minor injuries."
Stella nodded. "Yes, I find it strange."
Given how efficient Gabriel usually was, by the time Jasper arrived with his men, Adeline should have been gone.
She had thought she would only see a corpse here.
Upon hearing the doctor's words, Jasper's stern expression softened slightly.
He glanced at Adeline, still hooked up to the IV, then checked the time.
"It's already one-thirty in the morning.
"Stella, you should go back and rest. I'll stay here with her, and we'll return to Dawn Vale together at daybreak."
Stella bit her lip, reaching out to hold Jasper's arm. "Jasper, you've been through so much.
"Let me stay here with Adeline, you go rest.
"You're right, I was too optimistic earlier, stopping you from finding her, almost leading to her ruin. I feel guilty...
"Let me stay here to take care of her, as a form of redemption."
Jasper hesitated slightly.
Redemption and guilt; these words brought him some comfort.
Although Stella had changed completely from the Adeline of six years ago, her kindness remained.
"You should still go back and rest."
"No, Jasper..."
"Or let me take care of Adeline."
As the two argued, a clear male voice interrupted.
Jasper and Stella turned to look.
Sebastian, dressed in white, leaned casually against the door, looking at them mockingly. "You two, as a couple, should go back to where you belong and argue."
"Adeline needs rest now, I'll take care of her alone."
Sebastian's appearance caused Jasper's gaze to darken abruptly.
"Why are you here?"
"With such a big incident, how could I not come?" Sebastian sneered and walked into the ward, taking a seat on a nearby chair. "I'll look after her."
With Sebastian's statement, Stella quickly smiled and held Jasper's arm. "Well, Jasper, let's go back first.
"Tomorrow, back to Dawn Vale, there's a lot for you to handle, you need to rest well."
Jasper furrowed his brow, deeply glancing at Sebastian before turning to leave with Stella.
Meanwhile at the Evelyn's family mansion, Morris held his phone, trembling as he listened to the call.
Gabriel had fallen.
Gabriel had been taken down by Jasper and David.
Gabriel's fall meant the downfall of the Evelyn's family.
Morris clenched his teeth in anger.
If only his incompetent daughter hadn't provoked Jasper, the Evelyn's family wouldn't be in this situation.
Morris angrily raised his phone, intending to smash it on the ground.
At that moment, a photo containing a letter appeared on the phone.
Morris furrowed his brow and opened it.
"Adeline, let me tell you secretly, the deceased Evelyn is not the Miss of the Evelyn's family, Stella is. From Linda."
