Chapter 751 Come Home with Us!

"To find medicine?"

Howard turned around, his face twisted with a mocking grin as he looked at Jasper. "You got hurt trying to find that wild herb just to show up Dennis, Adeline, and our whole Phoebe family?" He sneered. "It's one thing to try and beat us in business, but to go and injure yourself by falling off a cliff just to humiliate us? Mr. Foster, you really went all out for our family."

"And now that you're awake, you want to take away the daughter we just reunited with?"

Jason, standing nearby, stepped forward angrily. "Don't you dare talk about him like that!"

"Jasper would never give you weeds! That Crag Root Herb was found on a cliff after a heavy rainstorm! He could have waited a day, but he went right away while it was still muddy and slippery to help your wife recover faster!"

"Otherwise, he wouldn't have been so badly hurt!"

Jason hadn't understood why Jasper, usually so strong, had fallen off the cliff. But after checking the weather reports for Lillehammer, he realized that going to the cliff right after a heavy rain was practically a death wish. Jasper must have known this, but he did it for Adeline.

Jasper nearly lost his life finding the Crag Root Herb. After the Phoebe family used it and recovered, they turned around and claimed Jasper had given them weeds!

Howard clapped sarcastically. "No wonder you're Jasper's friend; you're great at making up stories!"

Jason's brow furrowed. "You..."

"Enough." Adeline's cold voice cut through their argument. "Is there any point in arguing about this now?"

She took a deep breath and glanced at Jasper. "If you came here to cause trouble and make things difficult for me and my father, you've succeeded. You can leave now."

Her voice was colder than the autumn rain falling on Jasper. He turned to her, his gaze deep. "I'm here to take you home."

Adeline found it laughable. She turned, tucking her rain-soaked hair behind her ear, and looked at him as if he were a stranger. "What home?"

"Jasper, I gave you a chance. I waited for you for a whole week! Even an hour before tonight's banquet, I was still hoping you'd come for me, and I would have left with you immediately..."

She looked at his pale face coldly. "But now, it's too late. You missed your last chance, and you missed me."

With that, she walked away, her high heels clicking in the rain. Jasper's body swayed for a moment. He quickly caught up to her and grabbed her arm, pulling her into his embrace. The rain poured down on them, making their bodies as cold as the downpour.

Adeline struggled in his arms. Howard, seeing this, tried to rush over but was stopped by Jason and Ryan. Blake walked over with a small umbrella, looking up at Howard.

"For the sake of my mom's dignity, I'll call you Grandpa. But please, don't ruin my mom and dad's relationship. Even if she's your biological daughter, she's a person with feelings, not your puppet."

Blake's words were mature and steady. Howard frowned, unable to warm up to his grandson. "All you see is Jasper? Do you know how much your mom has suffered because of him?"

"Dad owes Mom, and he should be the one to make it right," Bennett said, his voice still carrying the innocence of a child. "Their issues are beyond us kids, and you as a father can't control it either."

Howard looked at the two little ones, his eyes growing deeper. But he didn't struggle to intervene. He wouldn't be outdone by six-year-olds.

But while Howard stopped struggling, Adeline in Jasper's arms started to. "Jasper, let me go! Don't make me hate you! Let me go!"

No matter how much she struggled or pleaded, Jasper wouldn't let her go. He missed her too much. During his seven days of unconsciousness, he dreamt of her leaving him, of her telling him to die.

In his dreams, he even begged her. As long as she would come home with him, he would be willing to die the next second.

After so long, he finally saw her again. Jasper held her so tightly it hurt. Adeline bit her lip and, in anger, bit his right shoulder.

Jasper's right shoulder had been shot a month ago during an engagement party attack. The wound hadn't fully healed, and her bite made him wince in pain, his shoulder losing control. Adeline took the chance to escape.

Jasper frowned and reached out with his other hand, grabbing her wrist again. This time, she couldn't break free. She bit her lip, determined, and raised her other hand.

A slap landed hard on Jasper's face, making his already weak body stagger. Adeline pulled her hand free. "Jasper, how many times do I have to say it? I won't go back with you. Don't come looking for me again. I'm no longer your wife. I'm the daughter of the Phoebe family. The Phoebe family and the Foster family are enemies. If we meet again, we're enemies. If you remember you're a Foster, if you don't want to betray your aunt and grandmother, don't come looking for me again!"

With that, she turned and left, ignoring Jasper's pained expression. "Adeline," he called, stubbornly refusing to let her go. He followed her, trying to explain.

"I didn't come for you because I didn't want to. Adeline, give me a chance. As soon as I woke up, I came to Oceancrest City to take you home. If you don't come back with me..."

Tears streamed down Jasper's face. He never thought he would cry. But now, watching her leave, he realized not everything was within his control.

He was losing her. What could he do to keep her?

Nothing. He had hurt her, disappointed her, and driven her to return to the Phoebe family. It was all his fault. But he didn't want to lose her. Ignoring his injuries, he chased after her, apologizing.

"Jasper!" Jason, who had known Jasper for years, was shocked to see him apologize. Blake, Bennett, and Lauren exchanged glances. They ran over, joining Jasper in apologizing and pleading.

"Mommy! Come home with us!"
