Chapter 716 Adeline Was Kidnapped

The room went dead silent.

Everyone, including Adeline, was stunned.

No one saw it coming when Jasper publicly implored Adeline for forgiveness.

A man as proud and dignified as Jasper, imploring forgiveness from a woman who was about to get engaged to someone else, in front of so many people.

Adeline was so shocked she forgot what she was about to say.

Instinctively, she reached out to take his hand.

Her Jasper was proud, untouchable.

But before she could reach him, Brandon grabbed her hand mid-air.

Brandon held Adeline's hand, his gaze icy as he looked at Jasper.

"Mr. Foster, what are you doing? Have you tried everything and realized Adeline still prefers me, so now you're playing the pity card?"

Brandon's words made Adeline's heart tremble slightly.

Was Jasper playing the pity card?

She looked down at Jasper's pale face and bloodshot eyes.

Adeline couldn't believe Jasper was pretending to be pitiful.

Jasper would never stoop to such tactics.

But if he wasn't playing the pity card, what was he doing?

Was he sincerely remorseful?

She had given him so many chances before, why now...

"Clearly, Mr. Foster is deeply in love with Miss Wilson."

From the audience, Daisy sat elegantly, sipping red wine as she spoke loudly. "Miss Wilson, why not you just say yes to him. After all, Brandon is already a cripple."

She placed her wine glass down gracefully, her captivating eyes looking in Adeline's direction.

"Your fiancé is a cripple, and you have a perfect man begging for you. If I were you, I'd say yes. What a perfect opportunity to ditch Brandon."

Daisy's words caused quite a stir in the room.

Adeline bit her lip, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.

Brandon was already disabled.

She couldn't let Brandon be humiliated in such a setting.

She had already let the Torres family down once.

So Adeline looked down at Jasper in front of her, took a deep breath, and said, "Mr. Foster, have you ever heard this saying? Your belated affection is too little, too late."

She turned her face away, tears streaming down where no one could see.

Even so, she suppressed her emotions and continued in an icy tone.

"Jasper, leave. Don't disrupt my engagement ceremony with Brandon. I will have nothing to do with you in the future. I hope you learn from this and treat your next lover well."

Adeline's words made Jasper's body stiffen on the ground.

The emotions in Jasper's eyes shifted from hope and excitement to despair.

Brandon sighed, pulling the tearful Adeline into his arms as he calmly instructed. "Security, escort Mr. Foster out."

The security guards, already prepared, rushed forward to drag Jasper out.

"Get off me!"

Jasper shook off the guards and slowly stood up.

The medication had worn off.

His tall, strong frame swayed unsteadily.

Jasper turned, taking a deep look at Adeline's back.

"I won't have another woman, Adeline. I won't give up. Before my grandmother passed, she told me never to give up on you. I will keep my promise."

With that, he lifted his leg and slowly walked out of the venue.

Adeline, with her back to him, could clearly hear Jasper's heavy breathing and slow footsteps.

Her tears wouldn't stop.

That fool, his body in such poor condition, why did he come here to humiliate himself?

Why did he come alone?

Where was Ryan?

How could he let Jasper come here alone in such a state?

And Jasper, so smart, must have known that coming here would only result in humiliation. Why did he still come? After what felt like an eternity, he finally left the venue under everyone's gaze.

After the door closed, the host, who had been stunned, quickly picked up the microphone at Brandon's signal.

"Everyone, this wedding has shown us the deep love between Miss Wilson and Mr. Torres. Let's..."

Before the host could finish, Adeline suddenly started retching. She tried to suppress the feeling, but couldn't.

Adeline's face turned extremely pale.

Brandon frowned, lowering his voice to ask her, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Adeline clutched her chest, shaking her head quickly. "I... I might need to go to the restroom."

Brandon's face showed a hint of impatience.

The engagement ceremony had already been delayed for a long time.

First, Jasper caused a scene, and now Adeline was unwell.

This engagement ceremony must go on!

He had to secure the engagement with Adeline to proceed with his next plan!

So he held Adeline's hand. "Hold on. It won't be long."

Adeline, her face pale, nodded silently.

But she hadn't held on for long when the host brought out the engagement cake.

"Now, let's welcome Miss Wilson and Mr. Torres to cut the cake. Once the cake is cut and shared with everyone, the engagement ceremony will be officially complete!"

The host handed the cake knife to Adeline and Brandon.

Brandon, a bit excited, placed the knife in Adeline's hand, then held her hand. But before they could cut the cake, Adeline retched again.

With a clatter, the knife fell to the ground.

The churning in her stomach made it impossible for Adeline to hold on.

"Sorry." She said, then quickly turned and rushed to the restroom backstage.

Brandon, sitting in his wheelchair, looked at the knife on the ground, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

He lowered his voice, instructing the bodyguards beside him. "Keep an eye on her!"

The bodyguards quickly turned and followed.

Time passed slowly.

Five minutes later, Adeline still hadn't returned.

Now, not only was Brandon anxious, but the audience was also getting restless.

At that moment, a server rushed out from backstage.

"Something's wrong; something's wrong! Ms. Wilson has been kidnapped!"

Brandon was stunned, "What!"
