Chapter 629 She is from the Phoebe family

Jasper's words made Nathan's face go white as a sheet.

Brenda, standing nearby, frowned and couldn't help but chime in, "Jasper, Rex is your little brother. How can you say that?"

"Even with both parents around, he's still a piece of trash," Jasper shot back coldly, turning to Nathan. "My mom died when I was young, and my dad might as well have been dead, but I know right from wrong. You two failed to raise your son right, and now he's out here trying to kill people. The evidence is clear, he's been arrested, and instead of reflecting on your parenting, you're here pressuring Adeline to drop the charges. You make a mess and expect others to clean it up. Is this the principle of Mr. Nathan Foster and Mrs. Brenda Baker? No wonder you raised a scumbag like Rex."

Nathan's eyes bulged with anger at Jasper's words.

But Brenda stayed calm. She took a deep breath, walked over to Adeline, and pleaded, "Miss Wilson, I know you're kind-hearted, and I admit Nathan and I failed with Rex. But he's still Jasper's younger brother. Rex's behavior is bad now, but he's young and can change."

Taking another deep breath, Brenda looked sincerely into Adeline's eyes. "Miss Wilson, you have triplets and a sister at home; you might not understand the pain of having no siblings. Jasper and Rex are blood brothers, yet they've never spent time together. If they spend more time together and Rex matures, they could get along. Rex could give Jasper the brotherly companionship he's missing, making him feel less alone. Even if the chance is small, it's still a chance. Do you really want to see Jasper so lonely?"

Brenda's words made Adeline frown deeply. She knew Brenda was trying to play on her emotions, but it wasn't very convincing. Jasper had already said he had Adeline and their three kids. He didn't need Rex for a sense of family.

But Lily couldn't hold back anymore. "Jasper, Adeline," she said, standing up and looking seriously at them. "Find some time today to drop the charges. If you really can't accept it, charge him with intentional injury. Since you weren't actually hurt, a few months in jail should be enough. He's your younger brother. Do you really want to see Rex spend years in prison?"

Jasper squinted at Lily, "Grandma, what did Nathan and Brenda use to threaten you?"

"I protect my own grandson; I don't need anyone to threaten me," Lily frowned and spoke coldly. "Jasper, I've thought it over; you can't always rely on Adeline. She treats you well now, but she had children and kept them from you for six years, showing how ruthless she can be. If she leaves with the kids again someday, you'll be truly alone. Rex may not be very capable, but he's your brother. With proper guidance, he will grow. Family comes first; how can outsiders ever compare?"Lily's words made Jasper frown deeply. He hadn't expected the usually stubborn Lily to change her attitude so drastically overnight after previously hating Rex and Brenda so intensely. But she didn't seem to be threatened.

He closed his eyes and smiled bitterly, "Grandma, do you really think someone like Rex deserves to be my brother?"

Lily glared at him coldly, then walked out with her cane. "It's not about deserving; he is your brother! This matter is settled! You and Adeline will drop the charges today! If you don't go today, I won't consider you my grandson anymore!"

With that, she turned her head, "Nathan, Brenda, let's go!" Nathan gave Jasper a cold glare before following Brenda, one on each side, supporting Lily as they left.

The door closed. The living room fell silent. Adeline stared blankly in the direction Lily had left, then turned to Jasper. "Maybe I should go drop the charges later."

Although she also wanted Rex to go to jail, Lily had raised Jasper and was the only elder he respected all these years. Adeline didn't want to strain Jasper's relationship with Lily because of her.

Jasper squinted in the direction Lily had left. "Grandma must be hiding something from me."

Lily was a stubborn person. Once she made up her mind, she wouldn't change it. But she had clearly driven Nathan and Rex out of the Foster family before. How could she suddenly change her mind and insist he cherish Rex as family?

Outside Blue Bay, Lily, looking as usual, was helped into the car by Nathan and Brenda. Once inside, Lily, who had looked rosy, suddenly seemed to age ten years. She clutched her chest, coughing dryly on the leather seat.

Nathan and Brenda exchanged a glance, their eyes full of cunning. The next second, they both lowered their heads. "Mother, are you okay? Should we get you some more medicine?"

Lily coughed desperately and nodded vigorously. Nathan sighed, taking medicine from Lily's bag while shaking his head. "Why didn't you tell Jasper that your old illness, caused by the Phoebe family years ago, has relapsed? If he knew, he would definitely find the best doctors to treat you."

Lily snorted while taking her medicine. "I have sought the best doctors over the years. The Phoebe family aimed to kill me back then; would they leave me a way out?"

After taking the medicine, her complexion finally eased a bit. Lily leaned back in the car seat, closing her eyes. "You're right. I can't be with Jasper forever. If Adeline leaves him again, he'll only have you as family."

Nathan quickly nodded, "I'll make sure to educate Rex well, so he can become Jasper's right-hand man."

Brenda also nodded with a smile, "Yes, Rex is a part of the Foster family; he won't be bad." Saying this, she and Nathan shared a knowing smile.

Lily's illness had been around for years; how could it suddenly relapse? This was all thanks to Molly, who was from the Phoebe family.
