Chapter 222 The Letter I Gave You

Adeline's heart plummeted in an instant.

The people protecting Molly were from the Foster family.

Initially, Molly repeatedly plotted against Bennett and Lauren.

If Bennett hadn't been willing to sacrifice himself in the end to cooperate with Molly, there would have been no evidence to catch Molly harming them.

Jasper was well aware of all this.

Yet, while he seemed to want Molly to pay the price on the surface, behind the scenes, he sent people from the Foster family to protect her secretly?

Adeline's head felt heavy.

"So, Mommy, Brandon's actions against Jasper aren't solely because of you being bullied; he also wants to seek justice for me and Lauren."

Adeline bit her lip.

Echoes of Jasper's words on the car just now resounded in Adeline's ears.

"I'm giving you a chance to stop them now.

"Otherwise, when I return to Dawn Vale tomorrow, they won't be the ones feeling triumphant.

"I have this ability."

She also believed Jasper had this ability.

She had witnessed the man's cunning and strategies.

After briefly instructing Bennett, Adeline took a deep breath and dialed Brandon's number.

This was the first time Adeline had called Brandon since Ms. Foster's birthday banquet.

Adeline didn't want Brandon to get involved in her current affairs.

Back then, Brandon had rescued her from the sea when she was severely injured, helped her recover, facilitated the birth of her child, and even paid for her plastic surgery.

She owed Brandon too much.
Therefore, in this matter of treating Blake's illness, she didn't want to trouble Brandon again.

Nor did she want Brandon to confront Jasper in the mall because of her.

It wasn't that she didn't believe in Brandon's abilities; it was just that she already owed Brandon too much.

Before long, the call connected.

"Adeline, you don't need to persuade me."

Brandon's voice on the other end was icy. "I've made up my mind. This time, no matter what, I will make Jasper pay.

"He owes you too much, from six years ago and now.

"You may not have the power to make him pay, but I do."

Adeline gasped.

She bit her lip. "Brandon, the reason you can easily make Jasper lose billions now is because he's not in Dawn Vale.

"When he returns to Dawn Vale, it won't be as easy for you.

"A loss of billions is enough punishment for him. Listen to me, stop."

Brandon chuckled, "Do you think I can't handle Jasper?

"At worst, it's a fight to the death. Even if I suffer losses, Jasper's losses will be greater."

Adeline rubbed her temples. "I know what you're angry about.

"But the troubles on my end are all because of Luna.

"Now that Luna is gone, everything is settled. Don't be stubborn.

"As for the people protecting Molly abroad..."

Adeline took a deep breath before continuing, "Send me the evidence that proves those people are from the Foster family. I'll confront Jasper face to face."

Brandon fell silent on the phone for a moment.

After a while, Brandon let out a bitter smile. "Even now, you still care so much about Jasper?"

Adeline felt her breath hitch.

"Jasper isn't as terrifying as you think, and I'm not as weak as you think.

"If you don't let me confront him head-on, I'll never be satisfied."

"Brandon." Adeline took a deep breath. "You and Jasper are business rivals, that much I've always been clear about.

"If you want to confront him directly, I have no objections"

"But you can't confront him for me, for my child. Not this time.

"Send me the evidence."

After saying that, she hung up the phone directly.

On the other end of the line, Brandon listened to the busy tone on his phone, closed his eyes heavily.

It had been six years.

He still couldn't reside in her heart.

He had always been an outsider.

With a bitter smile, Brandon finally picked up the phone and dialed his secretary's number. "Stop the attacks against the Foster Group."

In the evening, Adeline received the detailed information Brandon had sent.

The information was thorough.

Every detail about the people protecting Molly was crystal clear.

A few faces looked familiar; Adeline had seen them before.

Indeed, they were Jasper's people.

She flipped through the information one by one, her heart growing colder.

These people were all once Jasper's trusted aides.

Without Jasper's orders, how could they dare to protect Molly on their own?

Thinking about this, she shut down her computer, reached up to cover her forehead with her hand.

She had known Jasper for many years.

She had thought she understood him.

Six years ago, what he and Molly did to her had hit her hard, sending her plummeting from heaven to hell.

Six years later, she thought she understood him again, coming to him, wanting to take something from him to treat Blake.

However, now she realized she still couldn't see through him.

Perhaps he was the one person in her life she couldn't figure out?

"Adeline."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

It was Linda.

Adeline shook her head, trying to shake off these complicated thoughts.

She and Jasper were leaving Seacity together tomorrow, and this business trip would soon be over.

After this, she didn't know when she would see Linda again.

Tonight, she should bid farewell to Linda and Zavier properly.

After composing herself, she got up and followed Linda out.

Due to Zavier's injured leg, the farewell dinner that evening was just between Linda and Adeline.

Linda took Adeline to a restaurant they used to frequent in high school.

In the evening, the restaurant was crowded and lively.

Linda poured a glass of wine and looked at Adeline with a bitter smile. "We've been friends for so many years, and I almost betrayed you. I feel so guilty.

"I'll drink to you."

Adeline helplessly picked up her juice. "Drink less.

"Besides, you didn't betray me today.

"You almost risked your life to help me, facing the danger of Lyndon's death. You don't need to blame yourself."

Linda pursed her lips, wanting to say something but ultimately staying silent.
She raised her glass and downed its contents.
In fact, the night before the press conference, she had received a message from Jasper, knowing that Lyndon had survived, which gave her the courage to overturn everything at the press conference and reveal the truth that Adeline was not a third party.

The incident where Luna respectfully called her Miss in front of Stella.

She still couldn't bring herself to tell Adeline.

She had intended to, but Luna's death today had hit her hard.

If she revealed it, would she be the next one to die?

With these thoughts in mind, Linda bit her lip tightly, raised her glass again, and downed it in one go.

During the meal, Linda drank a lot.

At first, Adeline thought Linda was sentimental because of their parting.

However, later, she noticed that Linda seemed preoccupied.

"Adeline, I'm sorry."

On the way back, Linda kept repeating this sentence.

Adeline hugged her. "What do you have to apologize to me for?"

"I've been keeping something from you."

With her eyes closed, Linda cried and laughed.

Finally, when Adeline escorted her to the doorstep of her villa, the tipsy Linda turned around, stuffed a letter into Adeline's hand.

"The letter I gave you...

"Read it when you return to Dawn Vale."
Adeline could only smile wryly, tucking the letter away before seeing Linda safely inside her home.

Once she was sure Linda was home, Adeline took a deep breath and got into a taxi.

"Your friend got really drunk."

The taxi driver chuckled, "Miss, the hotel you're heading to is quite far. If you're feeling bored, why not take a nap? You look tired."

Adeline shook her head. "I'm not tired."

For some reason, as soon as she said that, a wave of drowsiness washed over her, and she leaned back heavily against the back seat, closing her eyes.

The taxi driver smirked and drove the car in the opposite direction of the hotel.
