Chapter 376 Take Good Care of Her
Jasper's words made Jason gasp. "You don’t intend to reconcile with Adeline?"
Jasper walked to the entrance of the estate, looking at the flowers and plants drenched by the heavy rain, feeling desolate inside. "Do you think it's possible?"
"Back then, Adeline was schemed against by Molly and got into a car accident, while I treated Molly like my own sister for six years."
"She endured the pain to conceive three children for me, and then came back to have a fourth."
"But I made her lose two of them."
Jasper's words left Jason speechless on the other end of the line.
Though Bennett and Adeline's lost children were not intentionally harmed by Jasper, their deaths were undeniably connected to him.
How could she possibly forgive him?
"So what do you plan to do?" Jason's voice lowered, feeling pity for Jasper for the second time in his life.
Since he met Jasper, Jasper had always been proud, composed, and unmatched by anyone.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he was the most impressive man in Jason's eyes.
But now, this same Jasper made Jason feel pity for him.
The last time he felt this was six years ago, after Adeline's car accident when Jasper locked himself up and drank alone.
"I haven't decided." Jasper looked at the heavy rain in the sky and sighed deeply. "For now, my plan is to cure Blake's illness no matter what."
He had already caused Adeline to lose two children; he couldn't let her lose a third. The past cannot be undone, but in the future, he wishes to do everything within his power.
Jason sighed. Originally, he wanted to tell Jasper that he had already explained the misunderstanding from back then to Adeline.
But now, he found it unnecessary after hearing Jasper.
Even if she knew that the events of the past were a misunderstanding, what difference would it make?
Jasper would still be with Luna.
"The rain is pretty heavy." After a moment of silence, Jasper asked, "Did she take an umbrella when she left your place?"
Jason raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Is it raining outside?" He rushed to the window while still on the phone. It was indeed raining.
Jason had been taken to the police station to give a statement and had been sitting in the office, unaware of the weather outside.
"She didn't take an umbrella," He said firmly, "By now, she should have already arrived. She won't catch a cold from the rain, will she?"
Jason's words made Jasper freeze.
He recalled what Luna had said when he carried her inside earlier. "I saw a very beautiful woman. It's raining outside; she didn't have an umbrella. Will she catch a cold?"
His mind went blank. Could Adeline have already been here?
With that thought, he hung up, grabbed an umbrella by the door, and rushed into the heavy rain.
The rain poured down harder, and dark clouds covered the sky. Adeline walked alone in the rain, feeling as gloomy as the downpour.
She had just been at Jason's place, thinking she had misunderstood Jasper.
But the moment she arrived at Emerald Crest Estate, she happened to see Jasper holding Luna.
Was she too late, or had he already given up on her?
Or was Jason also deceiving her?
Countless questions weighed heavily upon her, stifling her breath.
Her steps grew heavier and slower. The rain soaked her, and she shivered from the cold.
However, she couldn't care less.
Her mind was filled with thoughts of Jasper.
She realized she couldn't understand him anymore.
She was so heartbroken that she didn't even hear footsteps approaching from behind.
It wasn't until the rain stopped hitting her that she looked up in a daze.
In front of her was a black umbrella and Jasper dressed in black.
Adeline hugged her shoulders, feeling cold all over.
Was it an illusion? Wasn't he supposed to be with Luna? Why would he come looking for her?
Seeing her turn to look at him, Jasper felt empty in his heart.
At this moment, her eyes were innocent and pitiful, confused and endearing.
However, he steeled his heart and spoke coldly, "It's raining, and you're not going home. Are you trying to make Blake and Lauren take care of you?"
Adeline bit her lip and instinctively touched his face, to see if he was real or just her imagination.
But as soon as she reached out, he dodged.
He frowned. "I'll take you back."
With that, he lifted her up and carried her in his arms.
The warmth of Jasper's chest and hands seared against Adeline's cold body.
This wasn't a dream.
He carried her to the car, and it wasn't until he opened the door and placed her inside that she finally spoke, "Did you ever like me?"
Jasper's hand paused slightly as he was closing the door.
After a moment, he glanced at her coldly without answering her question and shut the door.
He didn't give her an answer, but his eyes said it all.
Adeline sat in the car seat, her hands clenched into fists.
She suddenly felt that she was self-degrading.
Didn't she already know that Jasper didn't like her?
Why did she naively think, after what Jason told her today, that he would have feelings? She was really foolish and naive.
Soon, the car started. Jasper drove her back to Blue Bay in silence.
At the villa entrance, Alice was anxiously looking out.
Adeline had left without an umbrella in the morning, and Alice was worried she would get soaked.
Seeing Jasper bring Adeline back, Alice quickly went up to support her. "Miss Wilson, how did you get so wet?"
Adeline said nothing.
"Take good care of her." Jasper said.
Handing Adeline over to Alice, Jasper let out an almost imperceptible sigh before turning to leave.
But before he could go, she reached out and grabbed his wrist.
Her hand was wet from the rain. "Jasper."
He paused and looked back at her. "Do you need something?"
His cold, unfeeling gaze made her heartbroken.
She bit her lip, almost unable to speak.
After a long moment, she took a deep breath and mustered the courage to ask, "You told me before that you moved from Blue Bay to Emerald Crest Estate to avoid disturbing me, Blake, and Lauren."
"Did you move there for our sake, or because you wanted to live with Luna in the estate I designed?"
