Chapter 507 How About Letting Adeline Come Over
Watching Jasper's car disappear down the road, Adeline turned to Ethan. "You okay?"
Ethan shook his head, looking pale. "Yeah, I'm fine."
He glanced in the direction Jasper had gone and sighed. "Adeline, Violet just blurted stuff out. Is it gonna mess up your plan?"
Adeline shook her head. "Nah, it's all good."
From the way Luna acted, Adeline figured Luna already knew she was onto her fake illness. But Luna faking an episode right in front of Adeline and Violet? That was a bold move. Luna wasn't scared at all.
The more Luna acted like this, the more curious Adeline got. What did Luna have on Dr. Smith that made her so sure he wouldn't call her out?
"Ethan." A worried voice came from behind.
Adeline turned to see Violet holding Ethan's injured arm, tears streaming down her face. "This is all my fault."
If she hadn't glared at Luna, Luna wouldn't have provoked her, and they wouldn't have argued. No argument, no knife, and Ethan wouldn't be hurt. Adeline's plan wouldn't be at risk because of her slip-up.
The more Violet thought about it, the worse she felt. "I'm so useless."
Ethan sighed and gently tucked a stray lock of her hair behind her ear with his uninjured hand. "You're not useless; you're just a cute little fool."
Their sweet moment was almost too much for Adeline. She shivered.
Taking a deep breath, Adeline looked at the lovey-dovey pair. "Don't worry. Ethan's injury won't be for nothing. I'll make sure Luna pays for this."
After that, Adeline waved at them. "Thanks for inviting me to the fireworks party and the barbecue. I learned a lot today. See ya!"
With that, Adeline turned and left. She walked to the street corner and hailed a taxi. "Blue Bay, please."
"Heading back so early?" The taxi driver chuckled as he drove. "There's a fireworks party at the beach tonight. The main event hasn't even started yet, and you're leaving?"
"Yeah," Adeline smiled faintly. "I've already seen the most beautiful thing tonight."
Just as she said that, the sky outside was lit up with fireworks, almost turning night into day. Adeline looked down at the flyer for the fireworks party she had received earlier. It read, Summer.
She thought she had found the gift of summer; she had found the most important people to her right now.
Thinking of Sebastian, she frowned and looked up. "Excuse me, can you stop at a pharmacy if you see one? I need to buy something."
An hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of Blue Bay. Adeline carried the medicine she had bought from the pharmacy, entered the house, and took out her phone to call Blake. "Are you asleep?"
"No, Mommy," Blake's voice was serious. "I'm helping Lauren."
Adeline smiled. "With what?"
Blake pouted. "Lauren said that when we used to live together, she always had your design sketches for inspiration. Now that we don't live together, she can't get your sketches anymore. She's hit a creative block, so I'm helping her find your old sketches online."
Adeline paused and laughed. As she took off her coat, she put the phone on speaker. "Why did Lauren suddenly start sketching again?"
Since Lauren was diagnosed with autism, she had spent every day clutching her drawing board, immersed in design, without engaging in conversation with others.
So later, the doctor told her to stop sketching and focus on other stuff.
Even though Lauren got better, Adeline hadn't let her go back to sketching. Lauren understood and didn't push it.
Why did she start sketching again after just a few days with Jasper? Was she bored?
"It's not because I'm bored," Lauren's sweet voice came from the other end. "I promised Lily I'd design a set of exclusive jewelry for her."
Lauren's voice was cheerful. "Over the past few days, as Lily spent more time with Luna, she realized that Mommy is a truly kind-hearted person. She even praised you for being so skilled, teaching me so well that I would voluntarily give her a gift!"
Adeline was amused by the little girl's proud and smug tone.
Adeline rubbed her temples helplessly. "That's because you two are naturally well-behaved."
If Lauren and Blake weren't inherently good, no matter how hard she tried to teach them, they would still be naughty.
Lauren giggled. "It's because of your good genes, Mommy!"
Seeing the two women starting to flatter each other, Blake silently rubbed his temples and took the phone. "Mommy, weren't you going to the fireworks party to mooch off Aunt Violet? Are you home now?"
"Yeah." Adeline took a deep breath, hesitated for a moment, and decided not to tell Blake about Sebastian and Bennett.
It was still too early. Even if Blake and Lauren knew, they couldn't do anything but worry.
Adeline took a deep breath and skipped over the encounter with Sebastian on the beach. "Yeah, I'm back. Just now on the beach, Violet's boyfriend was injured by Luna."
Lauren's eyes widened instantly on the other end of the line. "Is he okay?"
Lauren had met Violet's boyfriend, Ethan. He was a young, handsome man.
Adeline said, "Nothing serious, but I want to teach Luna a lesson. I'm calling you to ask for your help."
Blake and Lauren exchanged a glance, then spoke into the phone simultaneously: "Mommy, just tell us what to do. We'll do our best!"
The serious expressions of the two little ones made Adeline laugh.
She smiled helplessly. "It's actually quite simple. Tomorrow, just do this..."
The next morning.
Luna got up early and went downstairs.
Lily was downstairs having breakfast with Blake and Lauren.
Seeing her come down, Lily snorted and started mocking, "Luna, why are you up so early today? There's no breakfast for you here. If you want to eat, wait until we're done. The table is clear of the English breakfast you hate; have the servants make you something."
Luna frowned slightly.
She smiled, suppressing her annoyance towards Lily, and sat down in front of her. "Grandma, what are you talking about?"
Luna said, "I never said I hated English breakfast. I just prefer American, but I can eat English too."
Lily snorted and said nothing.
Lauren politely pushed the breakfast on the table towards Luna.
Luna said, "Thank you, Lauren, you're so sweet!"
Luna smiled warmly and even reached out to pat Lauren's head. "You and Blake have been here for two days, right? Do you miss Adeline?"
Then Luna looked up at Lily. "Grandma, I know you like Adeline and dislike me, and I know the kids miss Adeline too. But Jasper won't let Adeline move in, and there's nothing I can do about it. So, why don't we invite Adeline over for dinner tonight and have a lively meal together?"
