Chapter 588 It's Me
Adeline tried to fight back, but she was quickly knocked out. When she came to, she found herself in an abandoned factory.
The leader of the men in black, wearing a mask, sat across from her, giving her a cold once-over.
"You're quite the looker. No wonder Jasper wanted to get engaged before he was fully back on his feet."
He got up and walked over to Adeline, lifting her chin with his hand.
"It's already five o'clock. The engagement ceremony starts in an hour. What do you think will happen if the leading lady doesn't show up?"
He continued, "Will Jasper become the biggest joke in Radiance Springs?"
The guy reeked of cheap cologne, making Adeline feel a bit sick. She frowned at him. "Who are you?"
"You don't need to know who I am."
He smirked, his lecherous eyes roaming over her face from behind the mask.
Suddenly, he raised an eyebrow, a cold smile on his lips.
"There's a better way than just making you disappear."
He lowered his voice, a mix of contempt and desire in his tone. "Showing up at the ceremony covered in my marks, wouldn't that embarrass Jasper even more?"
His words made Adeline's eyes turn cold! She instinctively struggled, her bound body trying to retreat.
"If you have a grudge against Jasper, go settle it with him. Why make things difficult for me?"
Her struggling only fueled the madness in his eyes. He smirked, slowly approaching Adeline.
"After all, you're Jasper's woman. You're getting engaged tonight. How can I make Jasper suffer if I don't target you?"
As he spoke, he reached out and grabbed Adeline's collar.
Adeline noticed a burn scar on his right hand, which she had seen before. But the situation was too urgent for her to remember where.
Noticing Adeline staring at his scar, the man became enraged and slapped her hard.
"What are you looking at? Never seen a scar?"
He then covered the scar with his sleeve and continued to assault Adeline, who had nowhere to hide.
Suddenly, the man tore Adeline's chiffon blouse. Her smooth skin was instantly exposed to the air.
"White, with lace."
He stared at Adeline's full chest. The other men in black in the distance were also visibly excited.
Adeline instinctively wanted to cover herself. But her hands were tied behind her back.
The masked man looked at her with desire. He slowly approached. "No wonder Jasper likes you so much. Didn't expect you to look even sexier without clothes!"
As he reached out to touch Adeline, a sudden idea flashed in her mind. She bit her lip and shouted, "Don't touch me with that ugly scarred hand!"
Just looking at the scar had made him slap her in anger, so Adeline figured the scar was his biggest insecurity.
She hoped to use this to her advantage. Getting beaten was better than being raped by this creep.
Sure enough, her words made the man's eyebrows furrow in anger. He glared at her. "It's not ugly at all!"
He slapped Adeline hard. "Bitch, how dare you mock me!"
One slap wasn't enough; he slapped her again.
Adeline tasted blood in her mouth. She bit her lip, blood seeping from the corners, making her pale face look eerily beautiful.
But the man's mind was filled with anger from being despised and looked down upon!
"What good is being pretty? With such a vicious heart, you deserve to be beaten to death!"
He raised his hand to slap her again. But before he could, a piercing siren sounded outside the warehouse.
Along with the siren came the sound of trained footsteps and police shouting, "Listen up, you're surrounded. Surrender now, or we'll storm in! Release the hostage!"
When a red dot appeared on the man's forehead, he froze.
It was a sniper's laser sight!
Hearing the sounds outside, he broke into a cold sweat. He slowly stood up, raising his hands in surrender.
The men in black behind him were also terrified.
He bit his lip and whispered, "Is there a back door?"
The men in black nodded quickly. "Yes! Should we run?"
"Of course!"
The masked man bit his lip and slowly moved towards the back door. When he reached the door, he quickly found cover and ran out the back.
As he escaped, gunshots rang out behind him.
He was so scared he wet himself, not daring to look back, scrambling away with the other men in black.
Adeline looked puzzled at the door. She had seen the red dot and heard the gunshots.
But there were no guns and bullets.
As she wondered, the warehouse door opened. Adeline instinctively turned to look but saw no one.
"Look down." Suddenly, a clear child's voice came from the door.
Adeline frowned and looked down.
At the door stood a child in a black suit. The child held a laser pointer and two small speakers, slowly walking towards her.
Adeline almost instinctively blurted out, "Bennett?"
Bennett paused, then walked up to Adeline with a smile. "It's me."
