Chapter 685 Go to Hell
If it were any other day, Molly would never let Adeline's taunts get to her. But now, cornered and desperate, Molly had lost her usual composure.
She lifted her head and glared menacingly at Adeline, who stood on the opposite balcony.
"You think I can't kill you?"
"You can't," Adeline sneered. "Even if you force everyone into the fire and kill them, you won't escape in the end. After your execution, I'll still be here, happy with Jasper, having his children!"
Adeline's words snapped the last thread of Molly's sanity. She bit her lip, her eyes locked on Adeline.
"Are you planning to trade your life for theirs?"
Adeline laughed coldly. "What do you think?"
Molly took a deep breath and charged towards Adeline. "Adeline, don't you dare run!"
As Molly finally left, Gilbert quickly led the staff out through the back door and across the street. The fire had engulfed Blue Bay entirely.
Watching Molly approach, Adeline took a deep breath. "Tim, Tom, take Blake and Alice and jump off the balcony. Your lives are more important!"
Blake frowned, clutching Adeline's clothes. "Mom, what about you?"
Adeline looked down at Blake's face. "You're the most sensible one. You know better than anyone that if I escape with you, Molly will follow us and jump too."
She continued, "She's armed and out of her mind. Even with Tim and Tom, without weapons, the casualties would be high. I have to stay to buy you time to escape."
She kissed Blake's forehead. "Go now, before Molly gets here and the fire spreads!"
Blake's eyes reddened. "But Mom..."
Adeline took a deep breath. "You must flee quickly, time is running out!"
Tim and Tom knew Adeline staying behind was dangerous, but they also knew that if she didn't, the casualties would be worse, and Adeline might not survive.
After all, Molly's primary target was Adeline.
They exchanged a glance and pulled Blake to the balcony.
"Where's Alice?"
Just as they were about to jump, they realized Alice was missing. But Molly's footsteps were already on the stairs.
The situation was dire. They mustered their courage, holding Blake between them, and jumped, shielding him with their bodies.
As they landed with Blake, the bedroom door was kicked open. Molly, holding a sharp pair of garden shears, walked in with a murderous glare.
The fire had reached the second floor. The heat made sweat pour down Adeline's face. She gripped the railing tightly, watching Molly approach with a garden shears glinting in the firelight.
"Adeline, I think you're right," Molly said, her voice steady despite the chaos around them.
Molly advanced and added, "After tonight, no matter what, I won't survive. Even if I force those people to their deaths, you'll still live. As long as you're alive, you can have children with Jasper, be with him! So..."
Molly squinted, her voice icy. "I'll let them go and just kill you!"
From a young age, Molly's greatest wish was that Adeline hadn't died sooner. Now, at the end of her rope, if she couldn't kill Adeline, her life would be meaningless.
As Molly closed the distance, the power went out. The fire had likely damaged the main circuit. But the villa remained bright from the flames, casting a monstrous light on Molly's face.
Adeline's palms were sweaty as she gripped the railing. "Molly, I don't know why we ended up like this. I truly cared for you like a sister."
"I never saw you as my sister!" Molly's voice was filled with madness. "I always knew you weren't my sister!"
Molly had early memories. When her sister went missing, Daniel brought back another girl, Adeline. Helen had beaten Molly, insisting Adeline was her real sister and forbidding her to speak otherwise.
Molly remembered it clearly. As she grew, Adeline's excellence fueled her jealousy. She learned Adeline was from a wealthy family, while her real sister had a good life. Adeline was better in every way.
Molly's resentment towards Adeline grew. She envied her beauty, admired her ability to flourish despite poverty, and was bitter about her marriage to Jasper.
Molly had nothing. From her teens, she hated Adeline.
Thinking of the years of humiliation and resentment, Molly took a deep breath and lunged at Adeline with the shears. Adeline instinctively dodged.
Molly hadn't expected Adeline, exhausted as she was, to evade her attack. This made her even more frenzied, attacking without any strategy.
Adeline had planned to tire Molly out, disarm her, and escape. Without the shears, Molly couldn't harm anyone even if she jumped.
But Molly's madness gave her endless energy. Adeline was exhausted and overheated, her body covered in cuts.
Her strength waning, she stood on the balcony, gasping for breath. She wanted to jump but lacked the strength to climb the railing.
"Adeline, die!"
Molly screamed, thrusting the shears at Adeline's abdomen.
A loud sound followed, and blood splattered everywhere.
